How's this for a perfect start to Daytime Emmy weekend? CBS Soaps in Depth tweeted in the wee hours of the morning that one of our fav-or-ite soapers—and one of the nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actor (he won in 2010)— Billy Miller has renewed his contract with The Young and the Restless!

According to SID, the dude Daytime Confidential's Jillian Bowe christened "Killer Miller" because of his penchant for MURDERING every scene (in an oh-so-good way), signed on for another year of bringing us the sexy, rowdy, passionate Billy Abbott. Man it feels good to write a positve post about Y&R!

I think this is a good thing, on balance, though it probably means that the Walking Dead aka Amelia Heinle will be sticking around, which is bad news. On the bright side this hopefully means Miller will reengage with the material...he's not been himself for a couple of months in my opinion. Just not fully there.
In my dream world they'll fire Heinle and recast her with Gina Tognoni, or failing that break up Billy and Victoria, backburner her, and chem test Billy with the two or three women on the show he hasn't yet been paired with. Wasn't Lily better with him? I think she was. What about Billy and Leslie?

congrats to Y&R for knowing what they have and hanging on to it. The show could still get the weed eater out and mow down some of the cast. The cast is much better now ( really the best cast on daytime by a mile overall) than it was this time last year but it feels awfully bloated. There isn't even enough time for fan favorites like Jill and Kay, Lauren, and especially Nina. We are too busy with the newby characters or characters we don't even care about (Daisy). As good as Tristen Rogers is, and as famous as Genie Francis is and on another show these aquisitions might be a bumper. But this cast is already filled with great talent and famous actors, that we love and would tune in to see. Just point the cam to Tricia Cast, Billy Miller, Eric Braeden, Jess Walton, Sean Kanan, or any number of other actors on this show and watch them go.....

Not a fan. I liked Billy Miller in his first few months but the character never recovered from being reunited with Mac. Plus, Miller started hamming it up and only delivers campy performances now.

I didn't like Billy Miller when he first came on and was doing all that stupid grimacing in place of acting, but he seems to have matured nicely--except every once in a while, he flashes a grimace!--so I'm glad he's staying.

Praise soap Jesus indeed! I'm so freaking happy right now! I just adore Billy Miller, Billy Abbott, and Billy/Victoria. I'm so glad there will be at least another year of Killer Miller and Amelia Heinle magic!

The problem with Billy is that they really still haven't been able to find a stable love interest for him with whom he has chemistry (Amelia Heinous doesn't count---they have no chemistry and the pairing is forced and contrived). I liked his chemistry with Vail Bloom's Heather---now THAT'S a couple I could've gotten behind!

^^ Yes. He told people he was leaving. Obviously they paid up. Interesting that it's only for a year. I expect him to bolt next summer.
At least now the "Jacob Young as Billy" rumours should die. Hopefully HE will go back to B&B!

I knew he wasn't going anywhere. He knows that there aren't that many stable jobs out there these days for actors, so he did the SMART thing and stayed put!!! Good for him!!

I'm thrilled that he's staying with Y&R as well. I too want the role of Victoria recast. Amelia was okay when she first came on but over the years, I've really wondered how on earth she actually became an actress in the first place!

I wish they would have SNATCHED up Tamara Braun as a Victoria recast before GH asked her back. She'll now be returning to GH. They can still hire Gina Tognoni, Rebecca Budig or maybe find some way to snatch Sarah Brown from B&B!!! But we know they like to torture us with bad actors, so they won't!!!!

I honestly don't know why B&B still has Sarah Brown on re-curring when she hasn't done a show in months. They might as well just announce that she's no longer with the show. Same thing with Lesli Kay (Felicia) and Ashley Jones (Bridget). We rarely see Mr. Beemer (Owen) anymore and as of either yesterday or today, Rick Hearst (Whip) goes on recurring as well. They could easily just let those 4 go all together, which will free up a lot of money and space on the B&B canvas.

Tamara Braun is apparently NOT returning to GH after all, so she could still be Victoria one day! That being said, this regime REFUSES to recast Vicki. They have had several opportunities in the past and did not have to renew her contract earlier this year. This show very rarely admits their casting mistakes. The fact that Eden Riegel is still on this show is mind-boggling. At least they admitted Maura West wasn't a fit for Diane.
