Ruh roh. Apparently our friends at ABC Soaps in Depth got their wires crossed (Or did they merely jump the gun?) regarding Tamara Braun returning to General Hospital as a new character. A spokesperson for the sudser is calling the Braun news a "false rumor".

Maybe the line about her returning as a NEW character is what's false. They didn't say outright she's not returning to the show. Maybe she will be a recast for Kate Ward or someone else.

I love Tamara, but I don't think she will be popping up on GH any time soon. Didn't they learning anything from bringing Sarah Brown back? Too many talented soap actors out there to keep bringing back old actors for new roles. I heard the actress who plays Aubrey on OLTL is being considered for the role of Kate Ward.

I am in the minority, because I enjoyed Sarah Brown's run on GH from the beginning to the end, and I even wish they'd find a way to bring Claudia back from the dead. I don't think the character was written THAT horribly and enjoyed Sarah in the role.
But I wish the press would get their BLEEP together and stop reporting misinformation, getting people's hopes up only to dash them ten seconds later.

I hope she's not coming back to play Carly. I usually HATE recasts, but Laura Wright's recast is one of the few that I have actually enjoyed. And while I enjoyed Tamara in the role, my feeling is "Finders keepers, losers weepers............"

Laura Wright is more diverse as an actress than Tamara, IMO. I love Laura and have watched her since her days as Ally Rescott on the late, great "Loving". Tamara had her time on GH and she chose to leave.

I was thinking the same thing jlafferty. I think that announcing it at this time was very bad timing. LW finally got a Emmy nomination for Carly, and the Emmys are this weekend in Vegas. This would make the show look terrible, to announce LW being replaced... and Carly being recast.. during the Emmy weekend.
We could be wrong....but the exact same thought about the recast crossed my mine also jlaff.
I for one do not care for LW as an actress...and would love for TB to come back as Carly...so I am keeping my fingers crossed. LW can spend more time pushing her wine on Twitter.

I have loved all three Carly's (that other one don't count, cause she was a hot mess), Sarah Brown being my favorite though.
I LOVE Laura Wright, she is a strong actress and has made Carly her own, but I also loved Tamara's take on Carly (Tamara looks like mob wife LOL)
So, honestly, I don't know how to feel about it...

I think your exactly right. Rumor has been floating for awhile that a leading lady is out at GH and will be replaced by another. My guess is Laura Wright is gone and Tamara Braun is in.

I sure hope the speculation regarding Laura Wright is incorrect. I think she is the perfect Carly, even though I loved Sarah Brown and Tamara Braun in the role. If it is true, talk about fixing something that isn't broken.
TPTB at GH have much more pressing issues to deal with than recasting an amazing actress who has been one of the few the highlights of the show for the past couple years.
If it is true, is it possible that TB is cheaper than LW? I can't fathom any other reason for the switch.

I'm with the others who were thinking LW was out and TB was back in... That rumor had been floating around about the GH leading lady for months now, and Carly is as leading as you get on the show, considering her status and screentime... Not to mention, Guza being out was a rumor too, and ABC tried squashing it like a bug for a LONG time ... and look where we are now. I've loved SJB, Tams, and LW in the role, which is rare, because I hate recasts, lol. But each one--with the exception of Carly #3
puke, puke --made the role her own, in a way that you still respected and loved the others as well. Tams was my favorite Carly by far, but that being said, ABC needs to get their shit together...

I would rather have Tamara back as a new character, than have her return as Carly.
Don't get me wrong I love Tamara, and I think she's a great actress, and I thought her stint as Carly was good, but Laura has definitely made the role her own tenfold.
Sounds like a "jump the gun" to me, I mean look at all the other ABC news that has come down the pipeline in the last few months, don't ever trust a denial.

I highly doubt they would fire Laura Wright. Maybe Laura wants to leave and Tamara will assume the role? How about we just keep Laura as Carly bring Tamara on as a new character and bring back Sarah as Claudia.
We all know she isn't really in that rubble. Franco has her and just made it look like her body.
I can hope. I still miss Claudia.
And why not bring back Jennifer Bransford too! lol jk on that one
