Don't know why they're in such a hurry to PUSH one of this show's best actresses/characters off the canvas. Sounds foolish to me. Oh well....

They are too busy trying to shove Rama, Vimal, the Ford brothers and all these other annoying newbies down our throats to give a damn!!!!

I think RS Alston wanted to leave. She did not want to stay until the end.
Either way, she will be missed.

As much as I hate to say it (because I have loved Robin Strasser for almost 20 years), I don't think I'll miss Dorian over the next six months the show has left.

Dorian hasn't been a calculating biotch since way back in '93 or '94 when she was doing all those awful things to Sloan Carpenter, trying to get him framed for raping that college girl and all those shenanigans. She's really been comedic relief since she came back to the show in 2003. Such a shame.

RS is leaving for her health, and I don't really think a week will make much, if any, difference. I just want her to get a nice send-off, and hopefully tape a little something between her and ES for the finale, and it sounds to me like she is.

RS looks fabulous in that gown.

I hope they give her a great send-off.

I'm going to miss Robin from my TV screen. I hope she finds a new him on some prime time show that deserves her talent. (No offence to Susan Lucci, but I think Strasser's talents are better suited for Desperate Housewives than Lucci. Of course, that Lucci story turned out to be a trial balloon and not anything legit from Marc Cherry.)

I'm glad RS ended her tweet on an "up" note. She's likelier to be hired elsewhere if she doesn't sound quite so cranky as previous tweets have come across.

TV Gord, if RS is the tell it like it is Diva then I have no choice but to belive the Back Surgery Story, I unfollowed her on twitter recently because she tweets a little too frequently and a little too stream of conscienesly? for me but she talked about making the appt. and then seeing the specialist and she talked about deciding to go through with the surgery and then about talking to TPTB and then about leaving early.

If the surgery is a smoke screen, I am really disappointed in RS and Frank and Ron for not doing everything possible to keep her to the end. Her health and welfare are the only excuses I would accept for her early departure.

Robin Strasser and Erika Slezak are the only actors who were there when I started watching while I was still in single digits in the late 70s.

I hope she tapes something that can be used in the final episode.

Why would RS lie? Why wouldn't she just come out and say, "I don't want to stay on a cancelled soap"? Really, she obviously has no compunction saying whatever is on her mind; there's no way she'd bullshit about this one thing at this point.

If RS wanted to stay until the end, that would only mean about 3 more months of taping.
Clearly she wants out now.

I don't doubt that she needs back surgery. I just think the timing was awfully convenient that she needed to have it right then, and that she didn't say anything about coming back for the end.

So sad The end of an era.

I actually got tears in my eyes when I read her tweet....really brought home to me that OLTL is coming to an end. It's heartbreaking to me.

But I don't see why she would lie. She isn't shy about telling things like they are. And despite some of her complaints, in general she's been complimentary of RC and especially FV, with whom she seems to have a very warm relationship.

I see why she would, um, stretch things. Those nice ABC health benefits provided to people on contract, perhaps? She won't have them for long. (And RC and FV aren't ABC.)

The writing for Dorian has been awful for years, especially with RC's campy warped view of the characer. I will miss Dorian as played by Strasser, who gave me many years of entertainment but the character in her truest sense through storytelling has not been present on the canvas with the current regime. Still, it says a lot about OLTL that Dorian will not be on the show any longer. The fans of the show deserve better.

Sure, Robin's having back surgery but if the show really wanted her on, why wouldn't they have had her back on for the end? There's someone who wants her out alrighy and it's not Ron Carlavati or Franl Valentini.

Meanwhile I have to ask how these soaps lasted as long as they have.

Bobby in a Nun's habit?? Really? How did he get ahold of that?? Most Nun's don't wear habit's on a daily basis anymore unless they are very old. How did he get into the building? Nobody watching?? Where is security?

And Gigi. So she had a hoodie on. Still, nobody realized it wasn't Shane thru all that drama?? Now what? She sits in the basement all week??

However they write Dorian off, I really hope it is with David. Some of OLTL's best scenes were of the two of them!

Jaq, you forget this is a soap opera, they do stereotypyical shit like having their nuns run around in habits, all the time.

I am going to miss RS and It is sad that Dorian will not be part of the show's finale. I hope they bring her back.
However I dont think moving up her final tape date constitutes pushing her out because it doesnt necessarily mean they are cutting her story short. It could just be a scheduling issue where they are able to finish taping her scenes earlier than they had originally planned.

And that is why they are being cancelled.

First, let me say that I love Robin Strasser. I love her acting, I love Dorian, and I love her outspoken ways (favorite twitter follower). That being said she clearly could stay on the show if she wanted too. Lets just say for arguments sake that she HAD to have the surgery immediately, your telling me she will not have recuperated by November when the show finishes taping. Doubt it.

ES took off I believe last year to have back surgery and with a little block taping was only off screen for a couple of weeks. Obviously all surgeries are different but something tells me if she wanted to come back in September and shoot a few weeks worth of episodes she could.

As people have pointed out she is very outspoken and if she were being pushed out, she would probably let everyone know on her twitter. Which leads me to come to the conclusion that she is leaving the show on her own accord and for more reasons then just her health. Judging by how she has lashed out at Frons and the rest of TPTB, the reason I feel she is leaving is because she wants to go out on her own terms. She has made no secret of how angry she is at ABC for cancelling AMC and OLTL and that she as well as hundreds of other people are out of a job, she also feels lied to as TPTB kept assuring fans and the cast and crew that they were committed to their daytime soap lineup when they clearly were not. I feel this was her way of taking her power back by leaving on her own terms and not when they tell her its over (November).
Somebody else her commented earlier said that if she wanted to leave early why wouldnt she just say that, after all she certainly isnt afraid to speak her mind. Well, the way I see it there is a difference between going after the people that just left you unemployed and this situation. At the end of the day if she admits to what I believe is the real reason she is leaving, then she admits to letting down some fans who would feel like she owed it to them to wrap up the show with Viki, which if you ask all the fans who watch OLTL I would say 98% would tell you something needs to happen with Viki/ Dorian in the end, these two women are OLTL. Shes not a dumb lady and I'm sure she realizes this, so to not hurt our feelings and get the ire of some of the die hard Dorian fans she is choosing to just say her leaving is for health reasons.
But just to clarify I do believe she has back issues, I just am fairly certain it has nothing to do with why she wont be on the show at the end. I still hold out hope that Frank V., Ron C., ES, or someone else on the staff of OLTL can convince her to come back even if its just for a few episodes to see her with the Kramer woman and of course Viki.
