Oprah Denies Beef With Rosie O'Donnell Over OWN Show
By Jillian Bowe on February 23, 2011

Don't believe the hype... Oprah shot down rumors circulating the web she and Rosie O'Donnell are in a feud over the former "Queen of Nice's" talk show for OWN. The Mighty O used her Twitter account to clear up the allegations and stated:
There's no feud between Rosie and me. We haven't even had a discussion about her new show. I get so sick of people trying to create fights and feuds when women are in business. Don't buy into it.
There ya go.

I really hope they've had SOME conversations about her show---it's going to start in a few months!

It starts in September. Rosie has said she will likely end her radio show in June and then will focus on the TV show.

I was fine with her answer up until "I get so sick of people trying to create fights and feuds when women are in business. Don't buy into it." Now she protests too much.

"the former 'Queen of Nice'"? I think that's hilarious. I used to love her. Then she became this loudmouth annoyance. I hope her show goes over like a lead balloon.

I'm as liberal as they come, but Rosie's antics make my nose itch. I am still appalled by her blasting Tom Selleck over gun control when she had armed guards to protect her family/children.What makes her think her family is important enough to be protected, but mine or yours isn't?

Scooter are referring to Oprah or Rosie?

I love Rosie and always will. It helps that we see eye-to-eye politically and I love that she's not afraid to speak her mind. Show those Republicans who's boss, Ro!!

Can we say train wreck wait to happen. Everything Rosie touches fails. Oprah has no ideal what she is getting into. She may bring OWN down with her.

^^ Everything Rosie touches fails? Not so. She had an extremely successful talk show for 6 seasons.
I am so excited for this show! I hope it's the perfect amalgam of the fun of her first talk show and the political atmosphere from her stint on the View (without that bitch Elisabeth....)
.
Rosie haters, watch your back. I will defend my girl at all cost!!!

Rosie magazine, Broadway show, variety show, and so on. I call them as I see them. Maybe she can start the Trump feud again when he runs for president.

I always have to laugh when I see people use that "Queen of Nice" title against her. She never called herself that. Newsweek's cover story on her was entitled "The Queen of Nice", and when she saw it, she made fun of it on her show the next day. She joked that her staff would disagree. The media gives her the name without her consent, and then haters use it to tear her down.
As for the bodyguard thing, that's a white elephant. She has explained it, but critics don't want to hear it, I guess. She said that the fact that 30,000 Americans are murdered by firearms every year has nothing to do with her own personal safety. If her son's safety was being threatened by some whack-jobs who oppose her, can you really blame her for having a bodyguard for him? She says she didn't know the bodyguard applied for a gun license at the time, and he would not be carrying it into Parker's school. In fact, police went to her son's pre-school and searched the property and found that that bodyguard was unarmed.
She has never said her kids should be protected, but yours and mine shouldn't. That's a complete fabrication. She has never said guns should be outlawed. She wouldn't carry one herself, but she hired a trained professional, to protect her kids. She thinks guns should be kept out of the hands of unstable people. What a bitch!
I'm not always a Rosie supporter. I disagree with her completely about the conspiracy theories on 9/11. I think she was on the losing end of the battle with Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She can be overly strident for my liking sometimes, but I love her, and I can't understand the people who want to see her fail just because they don't like her ("I hope her show goes over like a lead balloon"). Is this the point we've reached in our deteriorating society? If you don't agree with me, you should be silenced!? I like people who challenge my beliefs. How boring would these blogs and message boards be if we all agreed all the time!?

I don't blame Oprah for speaking out. Why is it WOMEN are always feuding or catty if they are successful? As for the Queen of Nice label, I used it because Rosie herself said she never thought of herself that way and when she ended her show, she decided to rid herself of that label with the things she did. Relax, it wasn't meant to be "used again" Rosie..

Gotcha, Jillian.
You can understand the frustration, though, I'm sure.

Oprah used to be cool, but now she's evolved into a rather smug and superior personality.

For the record, Rosie's magazine venture was extremely successful as well--she quit it and it got litigious, but it was very profitable before she made that decision. The Broadway show was indeed a bomb, and the variety show was a quarter-hearted backdoor pilot that failed because she put very little effort into it and because the maelstrom of bad press around her at the time left no oxygen for anything new. (And yes, some of that bad press was deserved.)
I like Rosie, too. She's a unique, non-conformist celebrity who is very upfront about her failings as well as her beliefs. I admire that.

I loved that both Oprah and Rosie denied the story within hours on Twitter. It's a great use of the tech and shoots these kinds of stories down quickly.
