Holy Hot Deals!! ATI ACQUIRES The Bay; Plans to Shop as Half Hour TV Series!

Proving what can happen when you create and write a soap opera chock full of beloved, veteran performers, and with the fans squarely in mind, TV Guide 's Michael Logan is reporting popular webisoap The Bay has been acquired by Associated Television International (ATI)!

Logan got the exclusive news from ATI's James Romanovich himself.

"Even though more and more people are gravitating to the web, TV is still the place to reach the widest audience," says Romanovich. "This is a little risky but I'm a huge fan of The Bay and have great respect for Gregori and his cast and crew. They've poured their hearts and souls into this project and I want to help grow them an audience."

According to the report, The Bay's creator Gregori J. Martin will edit the webisoaps into13 half-hour episodes. ATI, which produced the 36th and 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, will then shop the series to cable networks and syndicators. Major props to Martin, as well as his talented cast and crew!  The revolution will be webivised!!!!

Great news! Hopefully this will help keep soaps alive, I would love for Venice to get a tv deal but I realize its hard since well even though CC says its not mainly "about" lesbians there is enough to keep it away from mainstream american television. I'd love for Steamboat to get some love to, that show is hilarious!

Congratulations to the cast and the crew of The Bay! ICAM, this is exactly what you get when create, write, and direct a soap featuring daytime's finest!! Kudos to Gregori for giving the fans what they want, great storytelling with great actors! Wishing them all the best of luck and continued success!

Very excited for the cast and crew over at the Bay. I'm sad to say, I haven't seen but 2 episodes. I did enjoy it however.

Just wondering, has Jackie Zeman made her debut as the governor's wife yet?I know she was going to be on the show, and I would be interested in seeing her.

Thanks. Smile

I am thrilled by this news. The 30 minute format is perfect for soap operas, especially in this economy. "The Bay" has the best case of the webisoaps. It is my favorite, though I loved "Gotham", but it has disappeared.

If it gets picked up by a network, they'll probably do some re-casting, which I wouldn't mind at all as long as they keep Mary Beth Evans.

So if it gets picked up are they going to re-film everything? I have only seen a few episodes and I didn't care for some of the acting. Mary Beth of course is always great and so were most of the other seasoned actors. Martha is wonderful too and I miss her on Days. Good luck on getting the show picked up as a TV series.

No They Will Most Likely Just Edit What They Have
I Think They 13 Chapters with 4 parts in each so 52 webisodes

So They will probably edit the 52 webisodes and edit them into 13 30 min episodes

So far we may have seen four full episodes on line if u follow me

Would they reshoot? I don't know. I do know that if this websoap can be purchased, then it just proves what we all really knew anyhow...that P&G never really tried to find life for ATWT or GL after CBS cancelled them. I'd love to see Oprah step up and bring "The Bay" to her network. It has diversity.

Good idea about Oprah! She did just do that show on soaps too so she must like soaps.
