As The World Turns' Ellen Dolan Joins Snarky, Fun Webisoap Empire!

This news should bring smiles to the faces of displaced Procter and Gamble soap fans. Ellen Dolan (ex-Maureen, Guiding Light; ex-Margo, As The World Turns) is joining the cast of one of our favorite webisoaps, Empire!

"I was invited to go to the screening of Empire by Yvonne Perry, and much to my surprise, I found a funny, quirky piece that I felt comfortable pitching my character to” says Dolan. “I've always wanted to have a chance to play her, and was delighted when Brian [Hewson] and Greg [Turner] said yes."

Look for Dolan's mysterious, new character to premiere during Empire's fourth season alongside such soapy faves as Yvonne Perry (Valerie), Orlagh Cassidy (Colleen), Nicholas Rodriguez (Landon) and of course, Tina Sloan as the unstoppable Theodora!

I have been mourning my P&G soaps lately. This is a GREAT news. Every little silly rumor you hear, like Oprah might do a soap on OWN, makes you get excited. However, the reality then hits that so many great soaps are no longer on the air and the 6 remaining soaps continue to be plagued with horrible rumors, budget cuts, and producers, actors and writers who do not care about the genre. Oh wait- back on track- Love me some Ellen!

I love EMPIRE! I am so happy for the creators, because they both really love soaps and you can tell they are having so much fun with the show. Last I watched Katherine, the maid, was being held captive by Sandra, the vengeful matriarch. Poor Katherine was shackled to the wall of a sound proof secret room where she was forced to eat gruel and watch the sexual antics of Ms. Sandra and her husband Cubby, who turns out is Katherine's biological dad! I bet Ellen will play the Lively family matriarch, she sort of looks like Orlagh.

Congrats Ellen I'm glad she has found a new soap. She is such a talented actress and she deserves to be on our screens. It breaks my heart everytime I watch the rerun of Selling New York on HGTV and it shows her talking about being an out of work actress and having to sell her apartment. I hope one of the 6 remaining shows realize how talented she is and casts her in a good role.
