I know she's a lovely dear, but Y&R could save a lot of money bumping Kate Linder from contract to recurring. She's hardly ever on, AND she has a second job as a flight attendant. Ditto for Judith Chapman. Recurring status was practically tailor-made for these roles.

Just because she is on cotract doesn't mean she is expensive. I imagine the terms of her salary include a very small salary. Being on contract doesn't equal big pay.
However, Judith Chapman should go on recurring. The writers really don't know what to do with her character.

Nah, Esther should definitely be on recurring. Her small role shouldn't be in the same category as the major stars of the show.
I have a cool storyline in mind for Gloria...wish Y&R would do it!

Kate is on contract???? Could'a fooled me. I guess when an actor is on recurring status, that means that instead of getting Thanksgiving and Christmas OFF, those are the only two days that they actually get to work??

The contract and recurring cast lists are available on many websites. It's not hard to know who's who. You can also figure it out from actors' positions in the end credits.
Dyllan, my Gloria story is this: Gloria discovers Ashley is not John Abbott's biological daughter and uses it to worm her way back into the Abbotts' lives, even threatening to publicly expose Ashley as a faux-Abbott. Ashley is defended by Aunt Mamie, who returns to town and goes toe-to-toe with Gloria.
