Renee Elise Goldsberry Returns to Broadway in Play From Rabbit Hole Playwright

Renee Elise Goldsberry isn't sitting around eating Ben and Jerry's, mourning over the loss of dearly departed Evangeline on One Life to Live. Instead the talented actress is returning to Broadway as Kate in the upcoming world premiere of Good People at the Manhattan Theatre Club, previews begin Feb. 8, 2011.
Written by David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole), Good People centers on the Boston neighboorhood of Southie, "where a night on the town means a few rounds of bingo...where this month’s paycheck covers last month’s bills… and where Margie Walsh has just been let go from yet another job. Facing eviction and scrambling to catch a break, Margie thinks an old fling who’s made it out of Southie might be her ticket to a fresh new start. But is this apparently self-made man secure enough to face his humble beginnings? Margie is about to risk what little she has left to find out."
Oscar winner Frances McDormand (Fargo) stars in the lead role of Margie, opposite Tate Donovan (The O.C., Damages) as Mike. In additon to Goldsberry, Becky Ann Baker (Freaks and Geeks), Patrick Carroll (Law & Order) and Estelle Parsons (Roseanne) round out the cast.
From the synopsis, Good People sounds like the kind of character-driven, meaty fun the Manhattan Theatre Club specializes in. The last time I was in New York, I saw the company's presentation of Donald Marguiles' Time Stands Still with The Big C's Laura Linney and it was a breathtaking and raw portrait of a relationship coming undone amid war and career envy.
Tony winner Daniel Sullivan, who directed Time Stands Still, also helms Good People. I know I plan to catch Goldsberry on The Great White Way, what about you guys? For tickets click here.

A few days ago for some random reason that I do not remember I watch her as Evangeline with Todd on Youtube, and before I knew it an hour had passed by. She and TSJ were AMAZING together. I love Todd and Tea, but Tangeline was a very close second. I ended up cursing the names of Eli Clarke and Tate Harman for the rest of they day. I love seeing her on EVERY primetime show that shoots in NYC. I will definitely check this out if I am in NYC during its run.

I miss REG more than anything else about OLTL, she and Roger Howarth are the only things I can think of that would make me go back at this point despite all the raves. This is just another step in one has become a thriving career and life for Ms. Goldsberry, I won't be holding my breath for her return.

I thought Evangeline was as dull as dishwater on OLTL, but I think Goldsberry is a talented actress and this sounds like a prestigious project. Good for her.

Glad she continues to move on with her career Valentini found her on Broadway and she has returned a few times since her departure from OLTL that's when I departed and haven't returned after several decades as a loyal viewer.
...I'll always have fond memories of her as Evangeline and still miss her but glad Renee is doing her thing...Good Luck to her.
