Soap Opera Digest is reporting that TV and film icon Frances Fisher has landed a role on Days of Our Lives. I recently saw some of her work on Edge 1979-81. She was great. I had my doubts at first, but I really grew to like her performance and character. Not quite sure how her character will fit into DAYS, but at least they cast someone who can act.

Oh, I loved her on the Edge of Night. She will be a wonderful addition to Days, I hope they gave her a good role!

She did more than make an appearance as Suzanne on GL, she played Suzanne Saxon, a record producer intent on creating a rock star out of Lujack, and creating problems for Lujack and Beth, as well as a fling with Jackson Freemont, a fellow music producer.

How awesome would Frances Fisher be as Carly's mother? Sure she might not be that old, but I'd buy it.

I may have to check out DAYS because I love this woman. She definitely should’ve been nominated for her flawless performance as Kate Winslet’s social status obsessed mom in TITANTIC. Does anyone remember her superb spot on performance as Lucille Ball in the TV biopic LUCY & DESI: BEFORE THE LAUGHTER? Remember who played Desi? It was GH’s Maurice Bernard. They were both very good.

Here's hoping they use her properly and not just as some barely fleshed out sounding board for Sami.
And her most recent steady gig was as HBIC Eva Thorne two seasons ago on the Syfy show EUREKA. Good to see her working in daytime.

Wow that is a casting coup! I hope Days has some great plans for her.

Well, that's certainly strange. It probably will be a cameo for sweeps. I don't think of her as being "legendary" or "iconic", that's a bit much.
I wonder how these things happen. Did she run into someone at a party or is friends with someone associated with the show and they create a small part for her, or is the part written and someone says send it Frances Fisher's agent and see if she will do it?

NaughtyTomato,
Fisher is a B-list actress with solid film and primetime TV credentials. But, times are tough. I think a lot actors are just happy to find a decent job. Since she's appearing on Days, we know that she won't be making BIG money because the show can't afford it. A steady gig like Days will allow her to qualify for her actors' union health insurance plan and add to her pension.
I we'll continue to see recognizable movie and primetime character actors trying to get roles in daytime if they're lucky.

I doubt anyone in the Holyland considers her b-list. She is a great character actress. Since she has 7 tv and movie credits this year alone, I think she qualifies for insurance without getting on Days. I would imagine that being a respected stage actress with over 30 seperate production credits to her name, that she enjoys the pacing and freshness of daytime being much like the energy of live productions. Many New York stage actors have appeared on daytime in New York. Since soaps are mostly L.A based now, it would make sense that a stage actress would be working on an LA soap. Personally, I am happy as it will ellavate the standard of dayitme LA soaps. It has long been the lesser when compared to the New York soaps. Way back in the old days, (1970s) there was no contest as to which coast had the best soap actors. Now days soap actors float from one coast to the next. However, I dare anyone to find a cast as distinctive and respected and decorated as Another World in the mid to late 1970s. It was like watching a broadway play every day.

She is almost 60 and Carly is only 40 so she really could be her mother. I would believe it but I doubt she is on contract.

I remember her as Kerry's mother who had given her up as a teenager on ER a few years ago.
She was wonderful.

Legendary and hollywood icon? I am sorry but Frances Fisher does not fall into that category in the slightest.
But I guess anyone who comes from mainstream film to Daytime must be considered legendary.

She's a legend to me just from her performance in Titanic alone. I think its funny that CBS and ABC are battling it out for the best guest start. While Days has Frances Fisher who is a pretty big actress herself. I can imagine both of those networks going "hey wait a minute were did they come from?"
