There is an ethnic cleansing going on in Llanview. It is shameful. OLTL used to write such great stories for minorities. This makes me sick!

6-soaps said it before me. They got rid of the gays, now they're getting rid of the minorities. David Fumero better watch his back. He's got no family on the canvas, he's been around awhile, and clearly this soap cares nothing for minority characters or storylines.

I am going to miss Tam, he needs to be on Broadway anyway.
Tilford and his character have been AWFUL since day 1, so this is not a shock

Neither dismissals surprise me though I'll be sorry to see Tam gone permanently; he's a good actor and I actually liked that character. As for Tilford, this bothers me not in the slightest; his character is a raging bore no doubt helped by the fact that Tilford is the weakest male actor on the show not to mention utterly charisma-free. Good riddance.

I figured the writing was on the wall for Jason Tam. Once the three Ford Brothers came on, I knew it was the end for any young actor that didn't look like an A&F model.
If I was Eddie Alderson, I would be afraid. Also, I have a feeling that All My Children will dump Finn Wittrock(Damon) for some taller, hunky model type character.
I wish Jason Tam the best. Ditto for Brandon Buddy. 2 fine actors. Terell Tilford...well...yeah...later!

Well, I can't say I'm all torn up about Tilford. He should have gone long ago. When the highlight of your cast membership is a toss-up between the line "A brain is not a foot" and a flail down a hallway, it's time to move on.
I'm not shocked about Tam, really. I mean, did anyone think he'd ever actually come back? That send-off was awfully final, even if it wasn't "official." But at least he got one, and a fairly nice one, too, rather than just disappearing. He'll be fine, though; dude's got talent!

I am very disappointed in OLTL. I'm not disputing that TT deserved to get his walking papers, but the show is definitely showing a decided lack of commitment to diversity.
AMC may be as terrible as some people say, but it is the only soap that currently features established African-American characters in front-burner storylines.
And please don’t anybody mention Y&R to me. While that show has improved overall, for the past two years or more, its African American characters and ONE Latino have been given nothing but garbage and/or sleep-inducing storylines to play.

And I only say that with irony people, and just a touch of humor, mainly because as I have said before...2009 was a great year for ONE LIFE. It worked its diverse characters all over the canvas like no other, returning it to the show's original theme. Now it's going to be so WASPy...and it just doesn't have to be you know?

whitney, no disrespect, but it seems you and Miss Houston have more in common than just a name.

I just saw the documentary EVERY LITTLE STEP last night, which is about the auditioning and casting of the more recent revival of the Broadway classic A CHORUS LINE. Jason Tam steals the movie. He was the only one that I could see that nailed the part he auditioned for after his first reading. We saw how he performed on OLTL when given good writing. I can’t recall any other daytime performer getting an across the board 3 for 3 (or 4 for 4) DC Performer of the Week but Jason did it. It is OLTL’s lost. I will follow this talented young man’s career and hope he does very, very well.
I’ve probably asked this before but has anyone noticed that Jason’s character Markko shares the name of one of OLTL’s most famous characters, Marco Dane, played by the late great Gerald Anthony?

Luverica, Tam's character sure does share his name with one of ONE LIFE's most famous characters. I was always hoping that Dorian or somebody from the veteran cast would have mentioned this, like Dorian could have said to Langston: "I knew a Marco once...stay away from them they are nothing but trouble!"

The Clorox Bleach line IS hilarious, but really, are we going to have the same whining everytime someone who isn't white and straight is written off a soap? OLTL still has plenty of diversity, as Llanview76 went on to point out so well.

Jason Tam is so awesome. He deserves better anyway. I wish him every success.

I will miss Tam, he is a great actor when given the opportunity. I can sort of see how there were limited possibilities for the character of Markko at this time. There are only 2 females in his age group, so aside from a cougar story with Dorian there is not a lot for him right now. I think/hope there is a chance for him to come back in the future if he does not find greater success elsewhere.
As far as Mr. Tilford goes, I did not hate the actor or character as much as some people did; but, for what Greg has done to my Todd and Tea especially after today's court scenes, I want Sonny Corinthos to come from Port Charles and have Max and Milo hoist him up on those infamous Al Quartermaine meat hooks! I don't care what Eli has on him, I want Greg dead and gone, so I am not upset in the least for his exit!

Whether or not it qualifies as whining is subjective, but I think the commenters that have said something about this are definitely onto something. It's an established trend at this point. Actions speak louder than press releases so it's pretty clear what's happening over at OLTL.
And Terrell Tilford. Man, what a waste. An actor of color with soap opera looks and can't act to save his life. He is not someone that I can advocate on behalf of.

Ridiculous. People have been complaining about diversity on soaps for decades! OLTL has characters who are black, white, Latino, Jewish, rich, poor. So a couple of actors of color are leaving. There will be others to take their place. There always are.

Do people ever look at characters beyond race? Just because the show needs diversity keep 2 characters who have basically ran their course on the show? Look, I'm all for diversity as a black man myself, but sometimes you just really have to look at the characters and how they fit into the show.

It's moreso the rate and magnitude of how it's happening that people are reacting to. I don't think anyone's debating that it's a common occurrence across all soaps. It's also worth noting that OLTL's original history and stories were heavily based on diversity; diversity is what initially characterized the show. I think people are also taking this into consideration when they react this way.

They are allowing the Ford brothers also adding their dad to take over and if WE dont like it we should ALL stop watching.
I will once Cole goes.
I wont even watch hes last scenes.

------------------
That's not true. In in 80's and 90's OLTL had times when the show had no African Americans no people of color. Erika Slezak once raved about the lack of color on OLTL after the Gray's were removed.
The point is daytime always has roles for Caucasian actors. The same is not true for actors of color. History proves it.
You want to get into this discussion. I did my research.

Sorry this IS no LONGER OLTL.
Loved Cole & Starr together.
The Ford Brothers and storylines are being forced down our throats.

I agree. The shift here has been bad.

Why not just recast Tilford's character?
Hell, I wish they'd bring back RJ and Antonio.
I think people have a well founded sense of worry because of the history of soaps purging minority characters.
Look at General Hospital. There are no men of color on that show. There are two women of color on contract who have no storyline.
