Her character is a woman who takes matters into her own hands.
Hartley, who was recently ousted from Days of Our Lives, won't be working alongside her husband Justin Hartley (Ex-Fox; Passions), who also stars on the show – as The Green Arrow. Said Souders:
She won't be working with Justin but she'll have her hands full with Clark!
Hartley debuts on Smallville's eighth episode this season.

Oh no wonder her debut date on AMC is so far away and not until December, she has to do her thing on Smallville first! So glad she is finding work so quickly, she is a great Actress! I love her. Will tune in for her on Smallville, and I can't wait to see her on AMC December 8th!!

FYI: Teri Hatcher will appear in the very same episode as Lindsay, so expect a big time promotional push for Lindsay's episode! Maybe some viewers will follow her to AMC...?

I'm telling you Days is shooting themselves in the foot by only giving storylines to certain women yes we all love them but lets be truthful they are letting Sami/Hope and even Chloe have lead storylines over Nicole and Carly, now we've lost Lindsey who did bring in viewers, and Carly is never seen unless its in a god awful WTD storyline and actually neither is Nicole.

Katie, I am with the problem wasn't Lindsay's acting, it was that Days didn't know what to do with her. They were hoping for a Theresa/Ethan reunion, but it didn't work.
I am sure the people at Days are kicking themselves.

I am one of the most hardcore Therethan fans you'll ever meet, and I tuned back into Days when Lindsay joined the cast. Unfortunately, I didn't last long. Arianna was a snore. If they wanted a Therethan reunion, they should have written Arianna more like Theresa: you know, with zest, spunk and a personality.
Brady is pretty much just like Ethan, so if Arianna had been portrayed more like Theresa and Nicole had filled the Gwen role, there could have been an awesome story here. Even better, they could have cast Travis Schuldt (the original Ethan) as Eric Brady and have a Brady/Arianna/Eric triangle.
The fact is, transplanting two popular actors who played a couple on one soap to another soap never works well. Mary Beth Evans and Stephen Nichols on GH as Katherine and Stefan come to mind. If the new characters are too different from the originals, it's really hard to recapture that magic no matter how talented the actors.

awww I actually liked Katherine and Stefan.
I was a fan of Ari/EJ though I did love Ethan and Theresa. I think the Days writers are just to shortsighted when it comes to certain characters. "Oh Ari doesnt work with Brady fire her" why do I get the feeling this is what happened.
Ari didnt get interesting until she left Brady.

Arianna and Brady were too easy. The appeal of Theresa and Ethan was that it was never easy for them to be together. It was always a struggle. Either Ethan was with Gwen, or Theresa was married to another man, or Ethan was in a coma because he ate poisoned guacamole, or Theresa was in a coma because she crashed a motorcycle...either way, there was always lots of drama surrounding their attempts to come together as a couple. Arianna and Brady lacked the drama.
And Nicole wasn't written as a fierce-enough villain like Gwen Hotchkiss. So she framed Arianna for hitting some guys on the head. Big whoop. Arianna should have gotten pregnant and Nicole should have had the embryo surgically removed and implanted inside herself. Now THAT would have been an exciting storyline!
