Way to treat your longest running cast member. She joined GH in 1977 you know kids. Elvis had just died. I've read that in several of her interviews.

I am just mad that Guza has turned GH into the Sonny and Dante show (and soon the Sonny/Dante/Brenda show).

Keep pissing off long time viewers by getting rid of vets, watch ratings drop to a 1.5, continue running over budget....at some point someone with a brain for business at ABC will pull the plug....

When I was watching GH, the Quarterbrains were the main reason why I stuck with it. The gangster element was nothing but FF-fodder for me. It's just awful, what they're doing to this show.

ANOTHER talented veteran who has been essentially "put out to pasture." But the writers clearly HATE the character of Monica, what with them killing off Emily, AJ and Alan. And then they bring on Rebecca, who COULD'VE been a substitute daughter for her, and then they ship her outta town, even though Natalia Livingston was an EMMY-winning fan favorite!!! And she's NEVER around to support her grandson, Michael. The writers couldn't even have been bothered to even write a few scenes for her during Michael's TRIAL or his imprisonment. Well, they did, but they were basically a JOKE.

What is there really left for her to do??? They have shown little to NO respect to the character over the past decade. I find it extremely sad.

Has she ever been up for an Emmy? I can't recall, yet she looks a mess. Not as bad as Jackie Zeman who is horrible.
Kate Linder (YandR) same thing. Why can't these "stars" take care of them selves and grow old naturally, like most people? None of them are great actors, so all they had was their looks and now all three are a joke and seen very little. They deserve to be on recurring.

Yeah, she's been nominated 4 times for an Emmy over the years, and she was HEAVILY favored to win in 1995 for Monica's breast cancer storyline, but Erika Slezak pulled an upset. She's truly one of daytime's most UNDERRATED actresses. Back in the 80s, she got all the heavy duty storylines, but now TPIC must find her services to be either too expensive or not necessary---especially with Vanessa Marcil back on the canvas, and James Franco. I am willing to bet that NEITHER of them are working for chump change. And the other show hogs like Maurice Benard and Steve Burton are probably also being paid a pretty penny.

This MIGHT be a financial decision, but I really do think Guza and Phelps hate the character of Monica. They have dismantled the character's life, leaving her with practically nothing.

Umm, @us312471, are you serious or being obnoxiously provocative??? For shame! Surely you know that Leslie Charleson was nominated for a Best Actress Emmy under Claire Labine's writing. Surely you know that Jackie Zeman was nominated for a Supporting Actress Emmy under Claire Labine's writing.

What you don't know is that Guza refuses to write for anyone who represents the history of this show. I grew up on Monica and Bobbie. It's an affront to Guza that we, the fans, actually care about the veterans. He has systematically erased what made this show great to build a monument to himself through Sonny/Carly/Jason. I don't have a problem with S/C/J, but what went down well in doses is toxic when overdone.

Although I do agree Charleson, Zeman, and Linder may have gone a bit far with the plastic surgery, I sympathize with their clearly vain attempts to remain relevant on this youth-obsessed soap that has clearly lost its moral center.

I could do easily without Dante and Olivia. But I am very sad that the Qs are disappearing one by one. Michael should have stayed at their place instead of on the couch where Lante keep having sex on.

While Leslie is not the best actress, I truly believe that if Leslie and Jackie still looked like themselves, they would be on more. I didn't even recognize Jackie one of the last times she was on with Alexis. John Ingle is not exactly the model of health(I'm assuming the same with the guy who plays Murphy on Y&R) so I think that's a biggie why he's not on

Alstonboy and the other posters who say the EP hates the veteran characters are probably right. The man seems intent on creating his own legacy. Longtime fans be damned!

Yeah, both women have ruined their natural beauty with plastic surgery, but they have been a part of GH longer than Guza has been associated with the show (he first came on back in 1982!), so their REAL fans don't really care how terrible they look. Most of us understand that people age and that their appearances also alter accordingly. However, even if they HAD aged naturally, I honestly believe that the writers would STILL refuse to give them proper amounts of airtime. Jacklyn's airtime has been dwindling since the early 2000s, BEFORE she did whatever she did to her face.

The writers are operating under this ILLUSION that spotlighting 30-somethings like Franco and Brenda will pull in a certain demographic, but actors like Zeman and Charleson are "old news" and no longer worth their expensive paychecks, so they are on the backburner with the asparagus and the lima beans!!

Jane Elliott has gotten a LITTLE bit more story lately, but she's essentially on the outside looking in also.

I hope she was the one who finally had enough and said she wanted recurring opening her up to do other things. This big Brenda return flop must be hell on poor Guza and Co. What a bunch of maroons.

Instead of learning and seeing what makes people tune in they continue to dessimate what once was an amazing show and turn it into Corinthos land..what happens when the ratings continue to plummet do you continue to let go core characters and smack history in the face because one or two focus groups say they like Sonny and the holy trinity.

That's really sad to hear. They have been alternating her photo with John Ingle's in the credits since VM returned. I was hoping we'd see more Qs when Brenda returns to PC. Edward has always been fond of her.
Monica is a cardiologist. They could have used her when Johnny was shot.
And there's the great storyline that will likely never happen - the Qs finding out that Jake is Jason's son. But that would mean that Liz & Jason would have to share screen time.
And we know Frons & Guza are all about JaSam.
That might we a more interesting twist in the JaSam storyline rather than all the mob stuff that most of us are sick of watching.

Look at Y&R and Days, they are using their vets. GH is in the shape that it is in because of their narrow minded ways and hurting the show.

I grew up with Monica/Rick/Alan. Today's sorry-ass triangles pale in comparison. Nothing against Erika Slezak, but Leslie absolutely deserved the Emmy for the breast-cancer storyline.

I will always be grateful that I was a GH fan when Monica and other vets were at the forefront, and that I bailed a few years after Claire Labine's departure.

I always dreaded the day that TPTB would do this to Leslie. With Leslie, Adrianna Leon, Annie Ilonzeh, & Bergen Williams all on recurring, it's only a matter of time before John Ingle & Jane Elliot get bumped too.

The first step in the extinction of the Quartermaines was killing half of them off. Now it's bumping them all to recurring until they slowly & quietly fade offscreen.

I was hoping that Stuart Damon, Scott Clifton, Wally Kurth, & Lesli Kay would all one day return, but after this & the way Robin Christopher's return was botched, what's the point?

All I can say is REALLY BIG MISTAKE GUZA & CO.

Just another reason why I don't have any regrets whatsoever giving up this horrible show. The showrunners can just keep running it into the ground, I no longer care. I'll always have memories of when GH was an essential part of the pop culture lexicon and a damn good show. Now, it's just a joke.

Whatever DOUCHE/DOUCHESS made the initial comment about plastic surgery needs to get a clue.

Many actresses of a certain age know that the business is mostly about YOUTH. And when you see many veteran actresses in that age bracket being sidelined for young ingenues, can you BLAME any of them for getting surgery?

These actors go through these procedures to keep a youthful appearance, that will hopefully allow them to be seen as valuable enough to keep on the show.

Most actors in Soaps have had some kind of work done Even men(Galen Gering, Ronn Moss, Cameron Mathison). This so they can project images of accepted beauty. Face it, it's about beauty and youth. Now a lot of it seems extreme, and many actresses have had pretty frightening results:

Bobbie Eakes

Leslie Charleson

Jaclyn Zeman

Lauren Koslow

But it's a necessary evil, considering that when most female actors get so much as fine lines around the eyes, they are shuffled aside.

About how Leslie and Jaclyen look I take them over many of the youngest cast!!!!!
better actresses better characters who really have a place in GH not like some others!!!

This is exactly why I quit watching this show. They have no respect for history. They act like it just premiered back in the 90's when Sonny first came. This is exactly why this shows ratings are at 1.5. ABC needs to just kill it now and put it out of it's misery.
