Eric Braeden on Marijuana: "Legalize The Damn Thing"
By Luke Kerr on August 12, 2010

On our first Pop Confidential podcast, the topic of legalizing marijuana–and taxing the hell out of it–came up as we were discussing Gossip Girl's Chase Crawford being busted for having it in his possession. It looks like The Young and the Restless’ Eric Braeden thinks the same thing. In an appearance on Fox’s Geraldo at Large, discussing California’s Prop 19, Braeden told Geraldo "Legalize the damn thing... We should tax the bloody thing. We need the revenue badly." Watch the segment after the jump!
According to the segment, legalizing marijuana would raise up to 1.4 billion dollars annually for California, if it were taxed like alcohol.

I lean toward legalizing but the top priority has to be legalizing MEDICAL marijuanna. As someone who suffers from chronic pain, I will just say that NO ONE except someones doctor should determine what a patient does or does not need.

"Legalize the damn thing, Geraldo"!!!
I agree, stoners don't start violence---unless you try to take some food outta their hands!!! Alcohol is a FAR more lethal demon than marijuana. Even though I have no use for EITHER of these drugs, and have never smoked a joint in my life. And Geraldo, DON'T INTERRUPT THE MUSTACHE
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAARRRGGGGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love Eric.

You go Hans, AKA, Eric! Maybe if the writers & TPTB at Y&R were smoking something, the s/ls would make more sense. Kidding aside, we have a family friend who occasionally smokes, & he's a much nicer person when he's smoking weed than when he's drinking. IMO, alcohol is much more dangerous when abused than marijuana will ever be. And personally, I don't believe that legalizing will raise the percentage of people who use it, at least not by much. It's already very easy to obtain. So, why not make money off taxing it? At the very least, it should be legal for those who are sick & in pain.

We have to think twice, or let's just say that not just twice but many times before we make any decisions regarding this matter. We all know that marijuana is an illegal drug aside from this
new research has found a link between a greater likelihood of psychological illness and using cannabis. Marijuana use was connected to mental illness by a review of 83 studies involving more than 8,000 patients, which showed that using marijuana caused psychological condition symptoms to emerge far earlier in individuals that were at risk for creating schizophrenia and other forms of psychosis. It is “Reefer Madness” all over again. People who are taking out payday loans for their habit might be at greater risk than they thought.
