Goutman Previews End of 'World' For TV Guide

SPOILER ALERT: Hang on to your hats boys and girls! TV Guide's  Michael Logan spoke with As The World Turns' Chris Goutman and got him to sing like a canary about what's to come in the final days of the soon-to-be defunct serial.
Barbara (Colleen Zenk) and Henry (Trent Dawson) will finally make it to the altar, reveals Goutman. "They are very flawed people but they know there's no other way to complete themselves other than being with each other. Their wedding will help heal the incredibly dysfunctional Ryan family and expunge the ghost of James Stenbeck (Anthony Hererra) once and for all. Once that ghost is put to rest, Emily (Kelley Menighan Hensely) and Paul (Roger Howarth) will be able to see through all their mishigas and finally realize they are meant for each other. They are going to raise Eliza together and be a family.

Goutman also revealed what Jack (Michael Park) and Carly (Maura West) fans have been dying to hear.

I think it's imperative we bring those two together even though they have never been able to get it right, Goutman notes. We've watched them go through so much, often to the point of viewer frustration. But odds be damned and differences be damned, these two belong together.

Every now and then it just cuts me all over again that this show is going off and this is one of those times!

NO! NO! NO!

So this asshat goes and gives away the ending to every single plotline a whole MONTH before we see it. It's called "building suspense", you hack. ....Goutman continued to show his lack of respect for fans even up until the very end.

Why would anybody tune in now? Especially, the newish fans who were so invested in a Luke/Reid pairing.

The execution has been sh*tty as hell. I wish all the actors much luck finding new jobs with real writers. The people writing this show for a while now have just plain stunk. And most of the time, I felt bad for these actors who had to act this s***t out to get a paycheck, a vast majority of whom have been around long enough to have worked under Douglas Marland....

At least GL had the sense to keep stuff a secret. It was done awfully but at least it was a surprise who ended up with whom.

Chris Goutman is an "asshat" (thanks for giving me a new term to add to my vocabulary, baycity...LOL!) but I am thrilled to see happy endings for Babs, Emily and CarJax!!! These characters certainly deserve some happiness. Unfortunately, it's gonna take a while for my broken and jaded heart to get over losing such a magnificent show. ATWT is SUCH a wonderful show, and despite it's 54 year tenure, I still believe in my heart that it's being extinguished before it's time!!

Thanks for the props, Alstonboy4315. I can't take credit, though, because I got "asshat" from Grey's Anatomy, where it was used several times last season.

My question to you is "Are you going to watch?"

Because if you're not, that proves my point. Smile

So Goutman knows that Luke and Reid are extremely popular with the fans so what does he do, he kills off Reid, what a way to spit in our faces. I hate this man!

I've always hated Katie so to hear him say she is the sweetheart of this show and should find happiness makes me want to hurl. Her ass should have left with Simon, so then I wouldn't have to see her for months constantly meddling in everyone's business and whining over Brad.

Baycity----

Honestly, spoilers don't bother me. I watch soaps because I love the characters and the genre, not to be "surprised or shocked." I think that the days of fans sitting on their couches biting their nails waiting to see what their favorite characters are gonna say or do are long gone. Soaps nowadays, for the most part, are pretty predictable, and when the writers DO try to think outside of the box, it usually has disastrous results. I will CERTAINLY be watching the final days of ATWT!! And I will probably get teary-eyed as I realize that another broadcasting landmark is being needlessly ground into the dust.

Just wished could have seen more of the vets the ones that started the show. Kind of knew how it was going to end up any way. Should have gave Lisa a storyline. Bob and Kim. At least their bringing John Dixon, and see James again. Should have brought back long forgotten couples and characters; Ellen, Penny; Betsy and Steve, Shanon and Duncan/Jessica, that's what real long time fans have wanted who have left the show in droves, screw the long time fans I guess. Oh well that's what we got youtube for. Has someone said will never see the older actors again in this generation zero world.

Previews? He flat out tells us how every storyline is going to end. Of course he left the most important one secret, I'm sure everyone is wondering what will happen to show's central character, Janet, and of course her offspring.

Goutman is an idiot, and not only for pandering to fan bases. Of course he doesn't pander in a good way, he's going to throw the expected couples back together, but he's not actually going to have his writers create interesting, entertaining, or believable storylines that will make these pairings make any sense.

Not that there has been a lot going on that would encourage people to keep watching this train wreck, but people should thank him for not making it necessary to watch the show over the next few weeks.

He forgot to mention the part where Janet and Liberty get swept up in a tornado and are deposited in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. I'm crossing my fingers. Wink

I don't understand the Gout's logic in spilling story points that should've been in motion for months now. I am afraid everything will be rush in some fashion. It won't be GL worthy, even though the final week was good, but I just don't get the spoiling of major story points this late in the game.

LOL, Capwell. I feel so bad for the longterm ATWT fans, I use to love the show, but the writers and P&G have turn me off this show for good. I will watch the ending, but will be not happy about it.

Surprise, the gays once again don't get a good ending. Actually, it's not much of a surprise, unfortunately, but I actually knew all this stuff for months.

Even though I'm a Nuke fan, why kill off Reid? I read the article and found what he said about Nuke/LuRe to be so totally not what I'm seeing on the screen. Luke won't even sleep with Reid because he's thinking of Noah. Some epic LuRe love story. Does the guy even watch his own show?
