This is absolutely nothing like James Franco. Vanessa Marcil is one of the most popular stars in the history of GH. The last time she returned, she brought back 800,000 viewers. No soap star has caused that kind of an increase since the early 80's.

Love Brenda and am THRILLED she's returning. Hope the story is worthy of her. My S&B heart did a little dance of joy when I saw the cover on the SID site yesterday. If ANYONE can make Sonny palatable to me again, she will.

It will be nice to see the return of Brenda Barrett & VM and while she brought big numbers with her last time, I think TPTB at GH/ABC are failing to realize that she's been gone for 7.5 years now. Television viewing has changed dramatically since then, and while she WILL bring ratings with her (unlike James Franco - soap fans don't give a rat's behind about movie stars who take screentime from their beloved vets), the numbers will be nowhere near what they were last time.
ABC is putting all of their eggs in VM's basket and unless her return arc is mind-blowing, I fear this might backfire for them.
Personally, I will only last a week at best with her return. As much as I adore VM & Brenda, her getting stuck in the vortex of suck that is Sonny will just be too much for me to take. I stopped watching because Sonny consumed the entire show and I'll continue to stay away because that never changes.

Dinah you probably should be thrilled. The insiders board over at daytime dish has a number of scoops that there is renewed interest in MW - both because of the response she got again at the GHFCW and because they envision the magazine being someplace Brenda might work. I guess they are talking about having some huge charity ball that would be planned by kate and Brenda.
Dont know if thats wishful thinking by some Kate fans or if its real, but it sounds like something tptb would like.

I am not a card-carrying member of the "I HEART BRENDA" or the "I HEART VM" fan club, but I am excited about her return. There are sooo many possibilities when it comes to character interactions, love interests, love triangles and soooo many people are NOT gonna be happy....ahem, Sam and Carly. And I want to see her team up with Robin to rip every strand of hair out of Lisa's bipolar scalp!!!

I love love love Brenda! I am super excited for her to come back. I pray that the writing improves though. I won't be able to stand it,if they write her like they have been writing other characters. Who knows though...she is a such fantastic actress, she may even be able to sell the crap they have been putting on. She looks great, I caught her on a couple of shows pimping her return...and she still is very beautiful. She comes across as a nice "REAL" person...no airs...down to earth...
I also can't wait for all the old eppies to air next week....I wish the writers would go back in the archives and get some good ideas for future story lines, based on history.

I loved Brenda back in the day. But since I'm not a die-hard GH fan now, I'm not really that psyched about THE SECOND COMING of VMG.
What nobody is saying is that she's only back on GH because things haven't worked out in Primetime and in movies quite the way she expected. GH was her springboard to greener pastures and she never looked back, not even to do a short guest-starring stint. Now that things aren't so bright on the other side of the fence, it's "Hello, again, Port Charles."
I wish her and GH well, but I couldn't resist making this reality check.

VMG was willing to stay last time around but they couldnt come to terms over her work schedule. What mother doesnt want to be home with her young child? And why should we fault her for preferring to work in primetime where she makes more money and works less hours.

I wouldn't call Vanessa Marcil unsuccessful. She has been on 2 successful TV series for several seasons. That is more than a lot of other actors can say. There are a whole lot of daytime fans that are super excited about her return. I don't think she has anything to be ashamed of.
