Radio Disney Injects New 'Dreams' in Serial Drama
By Daniel Pearce on June 30, 2010

Mediaweek.com is reporting that Radio Disney is resurrecting scripted serial dramas on their station.
Radio Disney is bringing back the serialized radio drama, a format all but forgotten in the U.S. Beginning July 5, Radio Disney will debut My Dream, a story about Kayla, a teen who juggles a life of music with school and home life.
Actress Daphne Blunt (ex-Jayele TheYoung and the Restless) has been cast in the main role of Kayla. Disney hopes that this revival will spark listeners of all ages
This original series is a contemporary spin on an old-time radio staple and begins an exciting new initiative that's designed to spark the listener's imagination with relatable characters and short stories, said Ray De La Garza, vp of programming for Radio Disney, the 24-hour network targeting kids, 'tweens and families.

That's cool! I love audio fiction and listen to a lot of it in podcast form. I'm probably a bit old for this Radio Disney program, but I think it's grat that they're doing it. Hopefully this will help lots of kids get interested in radio drama.
