DC #559: Live From Daytime Emmy Weekend in Las Vegas
On today’s Daytime Confidential episode join Luke, Regan, J Bernard and Karen from Wubs.net as they are joined by Jamey Giddens reporting live from Daytime Emmy Weekend in Las Vegas.
Listen as he recounts his encounter with the legendary Agnes Nixon and spending time in the Daytime Emmy Gift Suite with Days of our Lives’ Molly Burnett and Casey Deidreck. Find out who Jamey may or may not have married at an Elvis wedding chapel. Find out what Julie Pinson thinks of portraying characters that get in the middle of popular couples. Jamey was there when General Hospital alums Sean Kanan and Drew Garrett posed for A.J. Quartermaine and Michael Corinthos photos. After Jamey leaves to go in search of more scoop Luke, Regan J Bernard and Karen continue their discussion of Brandon Buddy and Stacy Haiduk. Luke believes Drew Garrett would make an excellent Cole recast if Buddy were ever to leave.
Days of our Lives laid Alice Horton to rest this week. Luke reads some Daytime Confidential reader’s comments and shares how the storyline reminded him of his great grandfather’s passing.
All My Children has cast Trent Garrett as Asher Pike, a love interest for Colby. Should Damon be worried now that he has competition or should AMC pursue a Damon and Liza romance?
Jeff Branson made his The Young and the Restless debut this past week and Luke spotted chemistry between him and Eden Riegel. Can Branson’s character help make Chance more interesting than he is?
Nick has found out about Bridget being pregnant with Owen’s baby on The Bold and the Beautiful and he isn’t taking it well. Will he be able to come around to Bridget, Jackie and Owen’s more “enlightened” family concept? Steffy has already figured out that Owen and Brooke had sex at Hope’s party, now all she has to do is prove it.
As the World Turns is winding down with its wrap party, its final taping and the last cast photo. Luke and Bernard discuss what they’d like to see happen in the remaining episodes.
General Hospital has cast Adrienne Barbeau as a character connected to Brenda. What is their connection to Franco and will Franco interact with more characters this time around? Regan enjoyed the scenes between Luke and his two sons Ethan and Lucky this past week. Karen weighs in on the emmerging trend of fans loathing Lulu and Dante. Are these two suffering from the Sonny and Carly syndrome that permeated Port Charles in the 1990s?

I plan to record it and watch the shows on ABC. Zoom threw it, only watch the parts ATWT, they'll probably be a 2 minute tribute, if they'll even give one to Helen Wagner; how GL got screwed last year. I won't watch it anymore as it been said they never gave any respect, why give it now. And if B&B wins again, I will definitely be done with it.

Re: Stacy Haiduk, I read this on Nelson Branco's article:
"But don’t cry for Haiduk — that very Monday night, her agent called to inform her that DAYS offered the talented actress the recurring role sans audition. However, Haiduk sighs, “I’m going to miss Y&R big time. I love those people. But everyone on DAYS has been amazing so far. I can’t wait to do something different with this character.” Insiders at Y&R aren’t happy that DAYS “stole” Haiduk, but maintain to Suds that they want the fledgling superstar back. However, at least, “Stace is still in the Sony family,” says one insider. Let’s pray."
So she's saying she's doing something "different" with this character. Am I reading too much in it by thinking it could just be a red herring for a recast of an established character? Because I too would think it's odd that she's just a prison warden. Wasn't a huge fan of hers but it's happening. I just wish the best for Days in general.

Jamey, thanks for being on the show and sharing with us all the cool stuff you're getting up to in Las Vegas.
I would *love* to meet Agnes Nixon and she sounds every bit as great as I've always thought she was.
I somhow had missed the fact that Stacey Haiduk was coming to Days, but I'm *so* excited! I imagine even if this prison guard character starts out pretty one dimensoal, sh will so be written as a full character once the writerts see what a great actress Ms. Haiduk is.
I eould've loved to have seen Drew Gaarret as thos mew charact on AMC. I'm not holding my breath that this no name actor they passed him over for will be any good.
I look forward to hearing your reactions to the winnings at the Emmys!
