Younger Actor Nominees Dish About Their Nominations and More

Sara Bibel
of Fancast had the chance to speak with 3 of this year's Daytime Emmy Younger Actor Nominees. Scott Clifton, Zack Conroy, and Drew Garrett share their feelings about their individual nominations, recent storylines, and overall soap experiences. Below, Drew Garrett dishes about a role he auditioned for on another soap. Be sure to read the full interview.

SB: Would you do another soap?
DG: Absolutely.  I auditioned for an ‘All My Children‘ role, Asher. They went older, which is totally cool. I’m kind of just seeing what comes my way.  I’m staying optimistic and staying focused and going to class and working hard.

Why did the producers pick such a MEDIOCRE reel for Drew???? They basically ruined his chances of winning. Now, I have to watch Scott Clifton (who I like, don't get me wrong!) take the Emmy, even though I feel that Drew's body of work for 2009 was stronger. This is exactly what happened with Julie Berman when she was nominated the first time in 2007. Everyone was saying she was a SHOO-IN to win, but the producers submitted a lackluster reel, causing her to lose.

Also did read correctly that they were going to keep the younger actors from going onstage but so much fuss was made because of it they changed it back to normal? I can see why ummm because thats an acting category. If they want to cut anything cut a dance scene or something similar not a main award its just takes a few minutes.

Katiebug and AllMyDaysatGh---

Judy Wilson, AMC's casting director, is a TOTAL moron!! She's a demented old hag who needs to RETIRE!!! For the past decade or so, for the MOST part, she has been hiring actors mainly because of their looks, hoping that they'll "learn how to act later on". She likes pretty young things, and doesn't care whether they have talent or not. She probably didn't want Drew for the same reasons that GH apparently let him go---he wasn't "handsome" or "beefcakey" or "teen idolish" enough for her taste. Gag me. I really want Drew to make it big in primetime or film so that he can stick up his middle finger to all these dummies in daytime who choose to WILLFULLY ignore his talent!!!

I think another problem and this happens alot with AMC is that they want the next big "thing" they should of cast someone already famous for Colby just like they did with JR. Either way I agree moron is what she shall now be referred to as. Hope this is on the podcast.

Katiebug--

LOL!!! I agree. This foolishness should be on the next podcast, but I am sure that the ENTIRE "Daytime Confidential" staff is already fully aware of Judy Wilson's incompetence. I have heard them discuss it on some of the past podcasts. However, they refuse to keep her on their payroll. She did SLIGHTLY redeem herself by casting Christina Lind as NuBianca, though!! And for finding Melissa Claire Egan and Cornelius Smith. Her track record over the past decade, though, is ATROCIOUS!!!

Watching that 60 seconds with Scott Clifton reminds me of just why I love that man so damned much. God he's funny! I want him to win the emmy like crazy!

And he's going to get stuck with that Steffy? I've never watched an episode of B & B in my life, but I've listened to enough Performer of the Week episodes to know that that girl needs to get to stepping!!! And, much as I love Scott Clifton, I know that he tends to let his own acting suffer when he's paired with lesser scene partners. I'm reminded of his time spent with Ignacio Serwhateverthehell on GH... not that I want to be.

I miss seeing DG on my screen. I hope everything works out for him. Love SC to death, but why does he have to share scenes with JW? I was hoping he would be on screen with AF once she returns to B&B. Glad the younger actor/actress speeches are back in but 30 seconds from the time their name is called is not enough time to say anything.

coolblue - The show is called the "Daytime Emmys" but sadly I think it's going to be mostly night time Vegas acts & personalities promoting Vegas with only a small portion of the show actually being the daytime awards. I hope I'm wrong but it isn't looking good.

OMG, this depresses me so much. Hopefully AMC will bring on Drew as someone else, the can't possibly be that stupid to pass up a talent like Drew Garrett????

I don't buy this crap that AMC doesn't know who Drew Garrett is. I believe it has to do with ABC and daytime affiliates who are stonewalling Drew into getting any kind of job in future soaps..Drew is an amazing talent, he has mastered his craft and for a young actor, he has way surpassed those of the same age group. Drew Garrett is amazing and those who do not hire him are the ones that are missing out!!
Drew Garrett is destined for a much bigger role. Primetime, late night or Blockbuster Movie...Please join this site if you are fan of Drew's, Our voices can be heard in getting him more than what he has seen on daytime.

Is it just me or does Drew Garrett look like he can totally play one of those V characters on the ABC show "V" his bone structure is very reptile like and I don't mean that in a bad way.
