Marc Cherry On Rue McClanahan: "Enormous Talent Will Be Sorely Missed"

Golden Girls writer Marc Cherry talked with People.com in regards to his former star Rue McClanahan's death. Cherry said,

When I worked on The Golden Girls, my favorite character to write for was Blanche Devereaux, he said Friday. In the hands of lesser actresses Blanche's vanity and sexual appetite would have been off-putting. But in Rue's brilliant hands, that character became one of the most beloved in the history of T.V. Rue's kindness, generosity and enormous talent will be sorely missed.

Marc Cherry did not create "Golden Girls"; Susan Harris created it.  Marc was a writer, then co-producer on the show in its last three seasons only.

RIP, Rue.

Thank you, I was to say the same thing, Susan Harris creator of "Soap" also created GG and wrote the first 10 episodes.   I love the "Girls" I fall asleep to them every night on Hallmark, set my timer and off to dreamland.  I seen each episodes probably 500 hundred times  I love you Rue, Bea, Estelle and Betty.  My favorite is Dorothy.

I agree with the quote. I can't imagine anyone making me love Blanche as much as Rue did. She was such a beautiful talent and played the sexy, southern belle with nothing less than perfection. She's immortalized with the work she left behind and she'll never be forgotten.

RIP Rue <3

How is the relevant to "Daytime" Confidential? I don't remember her being in any daytime or night soap.

DenverDean, I guess you missed Jamey's post where he explained she was on Another World.
