Blow out the candles. No more need for rain dances, or vigils, the season of silk pajamas, tramp stamps and sexy giggles is (almost) officially upon us. Word is SHE returns on screen in August. Just when I thought all hope was lost (sheds tear of unadulterated fanboy joy before going to listen to Prince). All pretenders to the throne beware, the original is on her way...
Which showrunner is royally pissed off that an actress who played an iconic role on his or her soap in the 80's is currently winning critical raves in a recurring role on a soap on another coast? Apparently the thesp-in-question was asked to return for a VSP (Very Special Episode) by her old soaping grounds in recent years, yet declined (Well her character did die onscreen!). Sounds like a soap-within-a-soap to me.
Don't be surprised if a soap guest star ends up sticking around indefinitely. Apparently the brass has become very enamored by the actor and are thinking of offering him or her a contract.
One soap recently shifted everything storywise, preparing for the return of one of their most popular blasts from the past, only for the divo to decide at the last minute he'd rather have a V-8.
People in the know are chuckling about how one soap loves to brag about having big names "on contract" to make it appear like a big get, when said contracts are always for very limited runs, sometimes as little as 40-something episodes. Talk about spin.
Although TPTB hate a former soap star, who fans desperately want back on the soap, everytime the ratings dip too low, talk of bringing the actor back comes up.
People are starting to whisper the words "burned out" about one daytime writer.
Actors on one soap are scratching their heads about the storylines even moreso than the fans.
As if being snubbed for a Daytime Emmy nod wasn't enough, one of daytime's recent breakout stars is on his or her way out, due to a soap entering into another round of insane budget cuts this summer. Expect more blood.
One soap was so pissed off that a former actor landed a gig on a rival network, they actually attempted to leak nasty lies about the star! SCAN-DAL-OUS!
A real-life couple on one soap is pushing TPTB to let them work together onscreen. Yeah, 'cause that always turns out so well.
This one soap is just about ready to tell a demanding-but-insanely-popular diva where to go, and even has a contingency plan—a superstar from a recently cancelled soap, who is just itchin' to join the cast of said show.
Which E.P. has made such a sport of pissing off longterm, beloved stars of his show, that the network is starting to grow fearful no one will even come back to help celebrate a rather, um "poignant" moment in the show's history?
Residuals, what residuals? SOAPnet getting the Kish treatment in 18 months has industry peeps, who depended on the residual checks the cabler provided, post massive budget cuts and the financial shakedown of the Writers' Strike, smarting.
Which beloved, former soap couple is rumored to have been offered the chance to reunite on the hit reality competition series The Amazing Race?

Okay, the first one is Vanessa Marcil, but I ain't gonna be breaking out the party hats unless she's planning on throwing Jax into her Prada bag and leaving town with him in tow. I REALLY wish that it was Genie Francis instead, but the show has proven how little they TRULY value her contributions to the show. I REALLY wish that it was Victoria Rowell, but I don't see that happening.......(sniffle, sniffle!)
Burnt out writer??? Easy. Brad Bell. He has clearly run out of innovative and interesting ideas, and it shows. He needs to take 6 months off and let Kay Alden write the show herself.
Being offered a contract???? Ugh. I am thinking Sean Young. I am also thinking that Eric Braeden went into the production offices, threw his weight around a little bit, mumbled incoherently for about 20 minutes, and then STRONGLY suggested that they give his unstable female friend a contract. And they did so to appease him....GAG ME.

Number four's gotta be OLTL. "Divo" could be the old Todd, but it could be Thorsten Kaye, too. I'm torn, because I'm still mad about the bloodbath used to facilitate it, but also grateful that neither will be appearing on my screen.

Get Ron C. out of that broom closet, folks....and fire the REAL heathen who is writing that show right now. I don't think it's Ron. I really don't.
Snubbed for a Daytime Emmy...breakout star???Stacy Haiduk. Are they getting rid of that boring Emily character, and sending "Pattycake" into a padded cell PERMANENTLY?? I kinda hope they are. I have slowly started to hate both of these characters.
Demanding but very popular soap star about to be shown the door??? Allison Sweeney?? I heard that she's been throwing her weight around a lot lately, and trying to control everything----direct, coach younger actors, and no doubt throw that extra "Biggest Loser" paycheck in everyone's faces. I wouldn't be surprised if she's the one that's getting the boot.

Kcgeban--- LOL!! If the show can survive without the QUEEN of Salem, Deidre Hall, then certainly it can survive without Allison Sweeney. I don't see her as being in the same league as Deidre was, so if she were to leave, they would probably just hire another out-of-work actress to come on and play the town villainess and keep it moving. The show would definitely go on....

Farah Fath...LOL!! One of the few actresses in daytime who can LEAST afford to be throwing stones is probably the one who is PARTIALLY responsible for Scott Clifton being axed!!! He probably reminded her that she's not the best thing since sliced bread---with that sarcastic wit that Scott has (just watch his blog on YouTube, "Theoretical Bull**it", and you'll see what I'm referring to.)......And ditto for Crystal Hunt. She probably recognized that Crystal was a better actress, WHICH she was and is, and got threatened at the notion of being declared THIRD rate---which, unfortunately, she IS. I can totally see that. She also seems like an arrogant attention hog. Something about her just SCREAMS "Look at me, notice me, even though I am mediocre at best!!!!"

Frankly, I don't understand how any actor/actress believes he or she can afford to be high maintenance. Actors are disposable these days. Soaps don't have the budget, patience, or decency to cater to the demands of staff.
Actors should be grateful to have a job in this economy. No, I don't believe that they should tolerate abuse. They should fight for decent treatment and fair pay. But, things are very, very, very bad.
I think the death of SoapNet in 2012 may hurt Days and Y&R. The fees won't be there to support their budgets.

Allison sweeney really I don't believe she's diva ish or waving her biggest loser paychecks in peoples faces yes she is in no league with my diedre hall and she's not tryin to be I would be surprised as long as their is a biggest loser she ain't goin nowhere days would go on without sami tho but when Marlena was leavin she was just with roboJohn no real story even before her firing in a storyline sami is too intertwined it would be a show overhaul she's in a triangle with rafe ej theirs her kids she has to find out the truth from rafe theirs will under Stefano's influence too much to drop her. I think she's sweet and down to earth and I feel days is one soap with less backstage drama like others days cast are friends they hang out together in real life and not just for a fan tour but dinner dates and to the gym. I'm pissed I will miss Stacey if it's her it should have been like Tamera Braun off days but got Emmy but she is snubbed sucks why even bring the talent if your gonna let it go it was a pleasure watching her award winning performances but if ur gonna lose her then write for the veterans yr cast is too crammed as it is. Will miss her.
