ABC to Create Daytime Chat Fest For Tori Spelling

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that ABC is creating a daytime talk show for Tori Spelling. As of now, the show is in the begining phase of creation, but the article reports Spelling will be partnered up with a male co-host, who is being called Tori's BFF. This begs the question, if picked up, which time slot will Spelling's show have? ABC currently has 3 soaps running during the day and is being led in by The View. Speculations are swirling that the talk show may receive the plum slot, which is currently being held by chat show titan Oprah, once she leaves the airwaves next year. Joe Flint writes,
Another scenario is that one of its current daytime shows is, uh, going away. We're pretty sure The View is staying put, so that leaves one of the soaps as potentially heading to the exit. But don't panic yet, soap fans, there is no guarantee that the Spelling show will get off the ground. ABC could also try to sell it to a cable network or syndicate it to local television stations.

This is like the 3rd potential new show that ABC daytime is trying to develop. They had the one with Rosie O'Donnell, the mid day show one and now this. They seem to be trying to find anything to replace one of the soaps.

Tori Spelling annoys me. Ever since BH 90210 never have I ever liked her. Not to be mean, but her face really bothers me. She is soo ugly :/ I really can't imagine anyone else who would want to tune in to yet another D-Lister's talk show.

I liked Tori on the original 90210 and that's about it. Most everything else she's done since then has been crap, especially her reality show.....which is about as real as her boobs. I wouldn't want to watch her on a talk show.

Call a time of death for OLTL, b/c something like this will not and should not take the Oprah's place.
The only time I thought this girl had any type of talent was that show that spoof her life. So she needs to go on credible tv and hone in her comedy skills b/c she has it in her.

Daytime is abt actors pretending to be homewreckers, not actual homewreckers hosting talk shows.
The only time Tori Spelling ever gave a decent performance in a movie is Trick, and that’s because she was portraying a bad actress! She’s so familiar w/ the material, she can just be herself.
Isn’t it bad enough that Randy Spelling polluted daytime w/ his acting on Sunset Beach? Now his homewrecking sister, who made money off of her homewrecking ways, could infiltrate daytime? Mind you, I actually liked the ripped from the headlines aspect of SuBe. I liked their zaniness and the references to popular culture, and even to other soaps. Olivia and Annie got into a verbal catfight that was a direct plagiarism from B&B. They had those Titanic/catastrophe episodes, they spoofed Jerry Springer and they had a Bill Clinton/intern affair arc. They actually had a lot of racial diversity. They had actual, live Asians! With storylines! LOL!
And I think the turkey baster arc somehow made an imprint on popular culture. Was SuBe the first to come up w/ that? I think so. It spanned jokes and even a movie. What soap can lay claim to actually coming up w/ an original storyline that’s now copied and joked about? How great was Annie, w/ her arms outstretched like a boxer, running around a room to the tune of Rocky, when she was told abt her inheritance from Gregory? Sarah Buxton was its clear break out star, and she regularly mopped the floor with Leslie Anne Downe’s overstretched, stapled face!
Brad Bell was obviously obsessed w/ SuBe and went thru a SuBe hard on period. Adrienne Frantz, Dax Griffin, Sean Kanan, Leslie Anne Downe, Jack Wagner and Sarah Buxton were all SuBe actors he snapped up. And B&B even used SuBe’s opening musical score in 1 ep of B&B for their opening credits. What does that say abt Brad bell, that he thinks he’s on the same level as Aaron Spelling, the granddaddy of all that is unreal? Brad Bell is a hack.
OLTL is actually the new SuBe, especially since it borrows a lot from popular culture. Grey Gardens, Who wants to be a millionaire, etc. And they certainly are as loopy as SuBe. How can anyone top the craziness of the immortal “pervs on parade” line.
Anyway Tori Spelling should keep her homewrecking claws off daytime. Leave the homewreckers like Colubino to act on daytime, not host talk shows. No one needs advice from a woman who destroys a family, and then profits from it by making a "reality" show.

Love how these networks will cancel a soap to make room for a game show or talk show. Seems really insulting that great soaps like Guiding LIght and As The World Turns get replaced with idiot game shows like Let's Make A Deal (and it gets better ratings also!!!!) Sounds like ABC wants to replace it's soaps and with celebrity talk shows.

This is kind of disheartening for OLTL. Also, I am hearing that the show is looking to do a sort of "Will and Grace" dynamic...ABC is searching for a GAY MALE to be Tori's on screen co-host.
My question is...it ABC and Frank Valentini/Frons is claiming that the Gays tanked OLTL, why would they do a talk show with an out, GAY male co-host? Oh, I get it...they are going for a form of Gay Minstrelsy that straight, White midwesterners and Southerners can accept...BARF!
It's the height of hypocrisy, and it lets you see how BULLS* the decision was to fire Brett Claywell and Scott Evans.
