DC #528: Brett Claywell Interview
In his first podcast interview since being kished to the curb. One Life to Live's Brett Claywell talks with Daytime Confidential.com's Luke Kerr, Jamey Giddens and Jillian Bowe on the heels of his shocking firing. The talented and passionate young actor, who moved across country to assume the role of Schuyler Joplin, only to cede that role to Scott Clifton, before being cast as nefarious lab tech-turned-gay med student Kyle Lewis, talks about what it was like to find out from OLTL show runner Frank Valentini that he was being let go from the series.
Hear Claywell in his own words as he shares his thoughts on the powerful work he and leading man Scott Evans (Oliver Fish) accomplished, and why he doesn't want to let any of the negativity surrounding their exits take away from a story he says will stay with him for the rest of his life. Claywell also addresses the myriad of allegations lobbied against him and Evans in the media. Does he feel they are to blame for OLTL's viewer erosion? What about their rumored misbehavior on set? Claywell addresses it all. He also talks about if we will ever see him reunite with Evans in a movie or web series, ala Guiding Light's Crystal Chappell and Jessica Leccia, who now star opposite each other in Venice. This is the podcast interview every Kish fan has been dying to download.

What a class act! No big surprise there. Brett will be missed by many fans, I stopped watching OLTL the day I heard the news. I can watch the end story of KISH on YouTube. I have watched One Life for the last 30 years, and what a sad way to end my soap addiction. Thank you DC for all the coverage, and thank you to Brett and Scott for the unforgettable romance of KISH.

It's available on iTunes.
Thanks for this, DC crew. Brett, there is recourse for the potential reputational damage caused by those defamatory statements: a lawsuit. Sue the pants off those who publicized these malicious statements and let them prove up that what they're saying is the "truth." Let a court of law and the inevitable court of public opinion smoke out the "truth."

R.I.P OLTL 555-5555
Get Rid Of The Gays, Get Rid Of The African Americans, Soon The Latinos Will Go, Then The Vets That CAN Act, Then The Show Will Be Stuck With Rex And Gigi, <Which seems to be what the suits want> Be Renamed The Rex, Gigi, Jessica & Her Many Personalities/ Maladies Non Variety Hour, Slip Below A 1.0 And FINALLY be put out of OUR Misery. Kick Rocks ABC... Yep I'm Still Bitter

Yet another great interview from Mr. Claywell. I'm just astounded by his intelligence and class. I hope this publicity, and his inherent talent, get him something big.

Thanks to the DC crew for such an amazing interview with Brett. Wonderfully insightful questions and answers. Brett is truly a class act. With so much talent, he is definitely bound for much better things.
OLTL, you truly messed up by letting Brett and Scott get away.

I wil say this again and again. It is unfortunate that these two actors were let go. However this happens to working actors everyday, particularly in the soap medium.
Evans is handling this with dignity and class. Claywell is wining in my opinion. He is a new jack to the medium, not a legendary veteran character, he should defend hinself about false allegations about his work ethic, but then he should drop it
, as in what the Cher charcter said in " Moonstruck" SNAP OUT OF IT!
and I will say he needs to GET OVER IT!

BG, all Brett is doing is saving his reputation. He has a right to speak out about what is going on and he isn't saying anything negative about the show, but how it went down is why he is speaking out. ABC is a mess right now.

Thanks for the interview. Brett has a beautiful voice. I wish long and happy careers for Brett and Scott.
Why couldn't ABC have just stated that they are retreating to their core families and saved everyone's reputation. Unfortunately, OLTL is no longer going to have diverse characters.

Well Im So Happy For Brett
Nelson posted on his FB in response to if he had contacted Kish for his stories of late?
Branco said no but he was always behind Kish but His sources will go to court and say that Brett is lying
will this crap ever end NB
You have various co-stars saying Brett & Scott were always professional but you have to continue the assult. Im disappointed

Appleridge, Nelson stands by his reporting and sources, the same way we stand by ours. That's the beauty of the free press. It' up to the readers to decide what you believe. Personally, I am moving forward, no matter what else comes out, I feel what was shown onscreen, coupled with what my sources have told me, illustrates that these men took their work seriously, and that they were hastilly dismissed because of a faulty belief that they tanked the ratings. Let's look to the future in supporting their sure-to-be illustrious careers.

Great interview, Jamey. I agree with everything you said on the podcast and that Frank and Ron have to scrap everything because of "probably" cause from up top. I wish Brett, Scott, Daphne, and Scott C on future endeavors.

Brett is a class act and so is Scott and their fans support them 100%.....one only needs to watch their performances to see how dedicated and committed they were to the kyle and Oliver story...they touched the hearts of many people worldwide and were the best reason for watching OLTL.when they leave i will join the countless others who will leave with them

That was a great interview. It's clear poor Brett is shocked and had no idea hos firng was even coming. For shame, ABC!
