ABC Planning a "Midday" Talk Show, Part Good Morning America, Part The View?

Well I had a little talk with Jesus... The New York Observer is reporting that ABC is considering the idea of developing a "midday news and lifestyle program" that would be one part Good Morning America and one part The View. The part I wanna know about, is where would it go on the daytime lineup?

How ABC stations would fit the new show into their daytime line-up remains unclear--and it's still a strong possibility that the project will fizzle out long before it ever makes it onto the air.

The article goes on to say a greenlight for the project probably won't happen any time soon, but it seems ABC is steadily developing new programming for it's daypart.

Oprah replacement. Many abc stations carry Oprah, and they're going to need something new once her show goes off the air.

I know alot of people will think this is going to replace OLTL but it wouldn't surprise me if its AMC.

The prevailing thought is that The View is going to replace Oprah

Until if and when this new show gets off the ground at this point it is pure speculation.

The View is a late morning show not a late afternoon show.  Not a good fit at all in my opinion!  And would TPTB at AMC really make all those people uproot themselves, sell their homes and move their families across the country only to cancel their show?  I would hope not.  My guess is they're trying to find something to replace the Oprah show with which airs at 4PM in most places, after GH and before the evening news.

The last thing daytime needs is another talk/lifestyle/cooking/"informative" show...........There is already TALK SHOW OVERLOAD!!! We have "The View", "Dr. Phil", Tyra Banks and her TIRED talk show, which thankfully is ending soon, that BOBBLEHEAD DOLL Wendy Williams, Rachael Ray who never stops smiling, not to mention the innumerable options on cable!! The only one I really watch is "The View," and all they ever do is TALK OVER EACH OTHER..........

Besides, how many shows end up getting cancelled within the first year???? I'd rather see a new soap opera in that time slot, but I realize I have a better chance of getting struck by lightning.......just wishful thinking on my part!!!

Buh-Bye OLTL.  And don't let the door hit you on the a** on your way out!  And I'm sure if it is cancelled that ir will still be blamed on Kish.

Expected, but still sad news. I am predicting that the networks in 10yrs baring some miricle will have their morning shows be like the cable news stations. From 7-12 nothing but a continuous cycle of world news. Then the local news then a game show, a show around entertainment news, children shows, talk show, lifestyle show, judge show, or repeat will air until the evening news.

yeah..if that's not the end to OLTL, I don't know what is.

So, pretty much local stations will be all news, all the time....and not even good news at that.

Jesus, I'm depressed right now.

That why soaps needs its own cable network so that if the three networks don't want them, they could of went to somewhere else.  But it looks like an end of an era.

I don't think that this is going to come to light here. I got a good feeling its going to be swept underneath the rug.
