Y&R's Wilson Bethel in the Running for Captain America

Yahoo News is reporting that Marvel is looking for its next Steve Rogers, better known as Captain America. The movie, directed by Joe Johnston of Wolfman fame,

Tells the story of the young infirm man rejected from enlisting who becomes America's symbol of liberty during World War II and eventually a member of Marvel's superhero team the Avengers.

Wilson Bethel (Ryder, The Young and the Restless) is among the seven actors in contention for the role. Days of our Lives alum Jensen Ackles was also on the list, but is off for now because of scheduling conflicts. At this point in its search, Marvel is looking for a young, rugged American actor to play the role.

I get the "rugged" part, but young? Bethel looks 40, thanks to his being so gaunt and constantly looking like he needs a long nap. I'm sure he's a good actor, in something besides Y&R, but I can't see him as Captain America.

I don't think Bethel looks "40".....at least not on Y&R!!! Actually, I can't really say that because I usually mute my television and leave the room during Daisy/Ryder scenes. He seems like a good actor from what I've seen, even though those RETCHED characters are eating up TOO much screen time, and it's taking the writers too long to explain WHO they are and WHY they are in town!!! (cue aggravated scream!!!!!)

I don't know. Maybe he could be Bucky, but not Steve Rogers.

Huh, well, I could see him in the role I guess, but MAAAN would Jensen Ackles be great for that!!

I don't see him in that role. He does not have the gravitas to pull this off. I like Jensen Ackles a lot and I think he is a good actor but I don't see him in the role either.
