DAYS' Peter Reckell Offscreen For A Month
By Jillian Bowe on February 25, 2010

According to published reports, Peter Reckell will be off the Days of our Lives canvas for a month. Fear not Bo fans, the actor is fine! Reports are saying Reckell's close to going over the number of episodes his guarantee allots and the brass isn't trying to shell out anymore bucks. DAYS will explain Bo's absence by having him visit family out of town.

I can only hope that Peter will be back as Bo for the memorial service that is being done for Frances Reid/Alice Horton as he was a part of her story along with Hope.

Where's he going - to visit Steve and Kayla in whatever country TIIC decided to send them?

Oh great. You would think they could plan better. Him offscreen completely for a month puts the brakes on Carbo and Bope. He better be back for whatever they do for Alice (Frances Reid) tribute.

How are they going to have Bo absent while he's in a front burner storyline. They could've had Bo turn up missing, which forces Hope & Carly to work together to find him. Only to have it revealed that Nicky Alamain (played by Jeff Branson or Greg Vaughn) is holding him captive. But, of course, that's too much like right...

OMG THEBEST that is a fantastic idea. Gosh why can't the writers be that imaginative. I love this idea.

An example of behind the scenes dictating onscreen at its WORST. Where was the planning?

Talk about really bad timing. His alloted eps were put into place when he was on back burner, though. I bet they weren't expecting him to come close to his limit. Crystal Chappell's return is what pushed him to the forefront and shot up his ep count. Oh well, I hope this doesn't stall the story line too much. It's moving at a snail's pace as is.

This wouldn't have happened if they would do the show like they did back in the 90's. They used to have Mon, Wed, Friday the front burner s/l's and then Tue and Thur were like the teens and the supporting s/l's. If they did this now they could find room to have all their characters like Abe and Lexi and a few others that get left off the show. Instead they just have Bo/Carly and EJ/Sami/Rafe on every day. They need to share the wealth and spread the airtime out and then they wouldn't be in this problem now. So now we will have some stupid excuse as to why he is not in Salem for who knows how long.

Are TPTB kidding ?
The character of Bo is connected to everybody.
This character moves stories along.
Will Sami, Rafe, EJ, Carly and Hope all have to take a 3 hour cruise ala Gilligan's Island?
These frontburner characters and their interplay with other characters have boosted the DOOL ratings
Now is not the time to rollover and die. Then DOOL loses the momentum of the past 6 months.
Stories have to build. TPTB can't just pull out the "stars" for the sweeps rating periods throughout the year.
The new credo for DOOL will then become
"like wet sand through the hourglass"

Something about this is not right. I find it hard to believe that all of a sudden they realized he was over his "limit". I wonder what the real story is......Jamey? Nelson? Anyone?
