So all those writers basically won an award for Maria and Hogan's work.

Congrats to the writing team of Y&R...for 9 out of the 12 months for 2009 I thought the show was on fire with the writing.  Well deserved!

The first three months of 2009 were great! But everything went to hell at Billy and Chloe's wedding. So much crap happened there.

Y&R has one of the best writing teams in daytime.  Are there things I don't like yes, but after watching more soaps it is clear to me that Y&R has if not the best one of the best.

Y&R, in my opinion, despite some of the current storyline silliness, is still the 2nd best soap in daytime, with GH coming in first place.  I honestly feel that they were unfairly shut out of the Daytime Emmys last year!! They should have been nominated for Best Writing, Best Show and Best Directing, but instead the Academy decided to honor that TRAIN WRECK "All My Children" ( I think that Chuck Pratt did some dirty work to
get that show nominated for all of those awards, because it was SOOOOO obviously undeserving!!!).

Y&R was the best of 2009, and I guess this victory is validation of all their brilliant work. Hopefully, they will be featured more prominently on the 2010 Emmy ballot.

Uh, bull-to-the-shit Alistair Crane, soap writing is a collaborative effort.  Hogan and Maria are head writers, which means they write story bibles and long stories, but the breakdown writers and dialogue writers are just as essential to any soap's success or failure.

The long-term stories are more important than daily dialogue.

That being said, Y&R still didn't deserve to win because 75% of last year sucked.

Y&R is the standard by which all contemporary soaps are judge by
