David Canary Releases Statement on Retiring From All My Kids
The end of an era. All My Children's David Canary (Adam/Stuart) has released a statement about his upcoming retirement from the sudser to SOAPnet.com.
"My career on All My Children has given me more than words could ever convey, both professionally and personally. I have cherished each and every moment. I would like to thank all the fans who have tuned in throughout the years. Their love and support has meant the world to me. I truly feel that I will leave the show in great hands. The viewers will be happy with how Adam departs the canvas and I know that leaving JR (Jacob Young) as head of the Chandler household will continue to provide the show with many great stories to come. This is not the last you've seen of Adam Chandler. I will be back to check up on the Chandler Clan," David said.
According to the article, the multiple Daytime Emmy winner will air through April, when Adam reunites with one of his many ex-wives and exits the canvas. I'm going way out on a limb, but can it be Turbo Liza (Jamie Luner)? Purty please, with vodka on top, take Liza. Let Brooke English (Julia Barr) stay!

Im guessing from what i read he says he'll be back from time to time,so i guess there not killing him off.I think right now more than ever abc should offer julia barr a contract asap.Come up with a miracle frons dixie is needed in pv.

I was sitting here thinking oltl wants to raise their numbers.Since phil carey died we havent had a strong patriarch on the show.Why not have adam chandler move to llanview and try to take over be.Oh the storylines would be endless.I remember when robin strasser and david had a crossover when the baby switch storyline occured.I think actors like david,alicia and thorsten should've took there characthers to llanview

Love Julia Barr more so now than ever, to return to the show who ditched her like that, after 20 plus years, with NOOOOO mention of her in the past 2 . Again and again and again - Props to you, Julia. You're a better person than me. I haven't "been back" in 2 years myself. But that was only becuase of Pole Dancing and "Real Returns" (not to mention Ryan)
David Canary and Julia Barr would be much better suited mixing it up with the Dorian's and Vicki's and Buchanan Brothers @ OLTL than the gagle of "talent" on the AMC Canvas.....

Now, the closest thing the show has to a patriarchal figure, since Stuart Chandler, Joe Martin and Palmer Cortlandt are no longer around (rest in peace, James Mitchell!!) is TAD MARTIN!!!

Gush ICAM and vicious AMC became Zendellville because of the writing - not the characters or the actors. I think OLTL would totally benefit to bring those 3 characters to the canvas. I would love to see Brooke and Adam arrive in Llandview only to have Dorian snatch him away post haste. then Brooke exits and we get Adam and Dorian having their way with Llandview.

EET, AMC became Zendellville because of Frons & if they come to Llanview the same will happen. OLTL has a big cast already. Too big. DC is a phenomenal actor & I would love to see him going toe to toe with Dorian, or any of the vets for that matter. But I think he wants to retire. If he didn't he would commute like others are. As for Kendell & Zach, I couldn't care less. Kendell is a shell of her former self being stuck in a pairing because of a large fan base & it's a shame because once upon a time she was a great character, all on her own. Zach, Ian, Patrick, what's the difference? I like TK but all the characters he plays are very similar. If he was to come back I rather it be as Patrick. But Patrick wasn't as popular as Zach is so who knows what will happen.

Vicious...I think you might be right about DC - that he wants to retire, however I also think there is a big difference between working 2 days a week 30 minutes from your home vs. working 2 days a week and having to commute 5 hours on a plane, be away from your home etc. Dorian needs a love interest and unless they are going to try her with Charlie they are going to need to add someone to the canvas at some point. I still miss A Martinez, but that ship has apparently sailed - dorian and ray were HOT.
With Zendall, I think its going to come down to what the goal is at abc. If they dont want them to go to another show and they both continue to refuse to move then the only option abcd would have at that point is to add them to OLTL. I cant see them letting AM go to another show and keeping TK, and if they bring them both on then it only makes sense that they do so as Zendall. That said, I hope tptb find a way to keep them at amc. IMHO thats the best fit. And while I am sure Frons and pratt wanted Zen front and center, I dont see that happening at OLTL because he has so many other favorites there as well. In terms of the too large cast - I would happily lose gigi and rex to add zendall and I think in terms of fanbase, zendall would get more eyeballs for OLTL than ReGi have ever managed.

Isn't it sad that such a wonderful man has to leave this show? I sincerly hope that they're not killing hoim off and that he's going off to a happy ending with Brooke, but I'm afraid from his "checking up on the Chandlers" commrnt that he'll die.
I've not cared for J.R. as an adault at all and if the show thinks Scott is an adequate replacment For Stuart than they are sorely mistake.

I guess I'm not shocked by this news much. I read on another soap website this was coming when his daughter (don't know if he has one now), but went on twitter and said her David was going to retire. But it sucks, all the greats are whether it's through retirement or death is leaving soaps one by one.
