Carly Shoots, Vivian Scores on DAYS

DAYS gets more and more RIDICULOUS and CONTRIVED with each passing episode!!!

I love Crystal Chappell, but not even the best acting in the world can save this show when it decides to revert back to being a CARTOON, as opposed to a soap opera---which is what I think is happening now!!!

The only saving graces on this show are Kate, Vivian and Stefano.......and Sami, when she isn't whining and complaining....and Maggie, when they actually SHOW her.....

I don't know. This is an interesting turn of events.This story has layers and intertwines many different stories and people. This affects Carly and Bo and Hope, this affects Nathan and Phillip and Kate and Victor and Maggie so I personally think this is what good soap opera stories do. I think people are being way too hard on Days. The show has been pretty good for a year now. The acting is a little uneven with the kids but that is usually true on Days and many other soaps. I think the show is less a cartoon than when people were being demon possessed, crowned princesses and memories totally erased and replaced with other peoples memories. Days has really gone for more traditional fare such as star crossed lovers, old enemies reignighting their feuds, younger people who are interacting with older more grounded characters (the younger crew with Maggie, Victor and Phillip, Kate and her kids.) , love triangles and such.

Well soap operas by nature tend to often be over the top.  This looks like a great plot twist to me.  

I tried getting back into this show but that Melanie chick cant act.

I am very happy with DAYS these days.  I feel like the stories are moving at a good pace, the acting is strong, and the show acknowledges and uses its history in current stories. Apparently, I am not the only one who feels this way as ratings are not dropping and there is quite a bit of positive buzz about DOOL from the various outlets that report on the soap opera genre. 

There will always be Negative Nellies who dislike Days because they miss their favorite characters, like John and Marlena, or because moaning and groaning about soaps is some sort of hobby for them.  For every positive comment, they feel the need to type a negative one...or two.  I often wonder if it is because they really dislike the show or actor they are commenting about or if they are just out to get their fix as the Kate DiMera of message boards for the day.  

Who oh who could you be alluding to studly??!!  I also wish we could all be in harmony.........

I agree that Melanie can't act and she reminds me more of Carol Burnett (a fumbling bumbling mistake prone mess) than an actress but she's not the only one. The majority of the Days cast seem like castoff's from the set of Laugh In or SNL i.e. Hope, Mia, Nathan, Stephanie, Daniel, Chloe, Lexi, Arianna, Kate, Lucas, Brady, Phillip, Rafe, the list includes 99% of the cast. It is painfully obvious why this show never gets acting nominations for Emmy's. Crystal Chappell is hands down a giant amongst midgets on this show her acting is so top tier it shows that she worked with Kim Zimmer, Tom Pelphrey, and Gina Tognoni while this group of peglegs can't act worth a d**n.  I only watch this crap for Crystal Chappell but as long as CC is there I'm watching.

For all the people dissing DAYS (i know you have your opinions but support them) what is going on in other soaps that's so damn much better??? 

OLTL - the annoying-as-hell Cramer whores overacting (Dorian especially).
Y&R - Ugly-ass Malcom comes back - whoopie - and talks to Lily.
B&B - Rigde/Brooke/Taylor again, this week, some more.
AMC - Greenlee is alive, we all knew that last year
ATWT - oh who cares
Guiding Light - oh yeah, Guiding Light got CANCELLED cause it sucked balls (even the so-called "stellar" acting ensemble couldn't save it)

So really, DAYS is telling layered stories, using VETS, with people getting arrested, kidnapped, caught and shot with storylines based on revenge, triangles, mystery and family.

What else do you want in a soap??? Tell me, what else you want in a soap that DAYS isn't delivering on (that other soaps are)?

Preach on, RCLGuard! I cringe and roll my eyes every time I watch Y&R.  Besides the awful recasting of Malcolm, the show is getting on my nerves with the Jack/Emily/Patty storyline.  I can't take it anymore!   All these shows need to get their sh*t together! Even Days could improve, but I have to agree.  I'm really enjoying it right now and it's bittersweet that we will see characters from the past on the show with Alice's death.  I also have to agree about Guiding Light too. I tried watching it, but I could not stand the filming technique or the acting.  Some of the acting was awful, mainly, I believe, because of the way it was filmed.  As for OLTL, I have to agree with the over-the-top acting.  Rex was awful today, and very annoying. 

Cramer whores??! What makes u say that???  I  LOVE  Dorian, but her constant use of the phrase "MY GIRLS" is getting old.  I wish Blair would remind her that they are all women, except Hope.

Can someone answer a questions for me?  I started watching Days again when Carly came back and is Bo Melanie's father?  If he is won't that make her and her husband related?  Anyone?

 Bo can't be Melanie's father because that would make Melanie and Philip niece and uncle. There are hints that Daniel Jonas is Melanie's real father. It's been said that Carly and Daniel have a past together.

Thanks for clearing that up for me RCLGuard, I used to be a huge Days fan and I've been trying to figure this one out since I've been watching again.

I thought today's episode of Days of Our Lives was absolutely outstanding.  Crystal Chappell blew me away with her scenes today of Carly melting down after she shot her daughter.  AMAZING!   She really brought it today.   I felt bad for Carly shooting Melanie by mistake.   I am really enjoying the Carly story line right now and the scenes between Vivian and Carly. 

 I agree with you Cubbie it's obvious why CC has an Emmy she can blow all of Days cast out of the water and everyone can see it. However, Days has always been campy it will never change. I for one don't like how Carly is being treated I hope all of this turns out ok for her and Melanie. To the person that brought up Y&R I  don't watch that, I stopped watching Y&R 10 years ago the only other show that gets my attention is GH with top tier acting from Jonathan Jackson, Maurice Benard, and Anthony Geary  and to your question of what people want in a soap lets start with good acting!! These folks get paid to deliver not to brung up the rear.

Crystal was amazing as always!! doesn't matter what the storyline is, Crystal always shines and blows me away!!! I love to see her play a scene like this,, really shows her versatility and range..She can play humor and anger and drama as only the best of the best can!! Love you Crystal! so glad she is back on DOOL!! I agree that Carly and Vivian are fantastic sparring partners! Love to see them go at it!!

I thought today's episode was truly outstanding.   I am a sucker for big storylines get that put large portions of the cast in the same place.  "I shot my daughter!".....now that is just pure soapy goodness right there.  Over the top...possibly.  But that is what soaps are often about.  Also was pretty surprised by Chloe's hysterical pregnancy.  I didn't see that coming.  I assumed she would have a miscarriage or something.  And is it just me or are they already starting to lay the groundwork for a future (way down the line) romance between Victor and Maggie?

What a Soap OMG, What an awesome Caryl/Crystal Chappell Day today on Days.

Soaps need over the top moments now.  The writing needs to be masked by something.

Bo could be Melodie's father.  It wouldn't be the first time incest found its way on a soap.  Maybe Melodie will die and Phillip will climb on her like a dog wanting to be close to its master (like Johnathan did with Tammy on GL when she died).

Crystal continues to amaze me with her talent.  She sucks you in and makes you feel everything her character is feeling.  Her reaction to shooting her own daughter was so realistic.  It was a heartwrenching scene.  I am looking forward to Melanie finding out that Carly is her mother and the ensuing scenes that will follow that revelation.

i havent watched the show since carly got buried alive storyline ,back in the days...ya im back now ...the carly & vivian feud is the awesomest thing to hit days in a long time...chrystal & louis are just great actors....i watch the show just to see how things will turn out between their characters...

im really not feeling the hernandez clan....they are annoying...they should leave town and have more vets on the show...just like its meant to be....

i have YR and that will do for now....
