In news that is sure to bring joy to all General Hospital fans, especially Daytime Confidential's own J Bernard Jones, the show's opening is finally getting a makeover, according to SOAPnet.com. The current sequence debuted in 2004 and features many characters who have long since departed the sudser. Be sure to catch the new opening on Feb. 23.

I wonder if this was in response to Luke, Regan, and Jamey's hilarious discussion on last week's podcast! Hahahaha. I loved that! "Dr. Rick Webber and Leslie are in the opening, Nurse Amy, Richard Simmons, Casey the Alien." I cracked up for a while over that!

I have always hated the men at the end and Luke walking away. It was just so weird. But I wonder if they will let the women be all together in one shot. ****slaps head*** what am I talking about.... show the women being united. HA.

It's about time. I mean seriously, it is quite a ridiculous opening, they should have re-did it a whole lot sooner.
I guess I'll have to wait with baited breath to see if it's even remotely....well, at least they will will have accurate faces showing in the credits.

So then it will be YET another who's the baby's daddy story? But what I find more hummm ironic is that Elizabeth will also be pregnant so with that being said...I smell a baby switch story.

i cannot wait to see it. I have never been so excited and cannot wait. Only a week and two days plus weekends! Woot Woot! Bring on the 23rd. I believe that it will be completely different and cannot wait to see where they place Sonny. Hopefully GH is smart and centers more of it around Dante, Carly, Lucky and Scrubs! Sonny can be just a face in a crowd!

I'd still be happy with a scaled back opening harkening back to the ambulance going through the gates of years gone by. Leaving the focus on the storytelling rather than a flashy introduction.

I hope they do something like AMC where it is just photos that can be plopped in or lifted back out. I think it is crazy that Claudia was the focus of the show for so long and she was never in the opening. There are so many characters on now who are not featured in the current opening. Dante, Olivia, Michael, Kristina, Ethan, Johnny, Steve, Morgan, Molly, and Matt are all left out. It drives me crazy that there are characters on there that are gone but why not give some love to the newbies? It is just odd that other shows do it but GH can't.

I seen a picture a couple weeks ago that shown this city and it had Port Charles across it and GH on one of the buildings which looked like the hospital. Someone told me that that would be in the new opening. If I can find the picture I will bring it over.
Oh I agree with that they should show the ambulance, which makes sense as that would be used for kids, mob and the hospital. LMAO

I think I might have seen it in at the end of one of the promos in the last month or so.
it was a pretty site of the city at night and the big GH was what caught my eye. Hope it is included .
I hope they put the cast in alphabetical order. I heard it might be family shots which I don't want to see becaue every 6 months the so called families are changing. I mean would they put Carly, Sonny Michael, Morgan Joss and Jax all in one shot LOL oh then you would have to add Dante and Jason and then Sam as an extension of jason then Alexis and Krissy and Molly because by gosh they all are family .
I would rather see alph list and hopefully they can take out pictures and insert pictures easily. OLTL does it all the time. You don't see dead people for three years after they are gone. and I am so praying they change that song. Just something about the "loudness" at the end that grates. I don't mind loud but not that sound. I like AMC opening too. Love the pictures flashing by (and I see Phoebe is still in there) but it works, not like GH's people that are no more.
And if people on the internet can make avatars and these little movies for avies why does it take a film company forever to change out pictures?
