General Hospital Superstar-in-the-Making, Dominic Zamprogna on Today's Show!
On Air, On Soaps editor Michael Fairman spoke to the guy who catches a bullet from his own Pops on today's General Hospital, Mr. Dominic Zamprogna (Dante)! Check out what D-Sizzle had to say after seeing his gut wrenching scenes opposite Maurice Benard (Sonny).
MICHAEL: Oh, you got a Sneak Peek. What did you think of it?
DOMINIC: I thought it was awesome. Laura Wright (Carly) always says, “You are never as bad as you think you are or as good as you think you are,” and I think that is a very fair statement. I felt really awesome on the day we did it. You always pick things apart in an unfair way when you watch it as an actor who is looking back at their performance. You can’t dictate when the producers are going to cut to what shot, or really know how you are going to look. You just hope it turns out well. I am having a hard time putting into words what it is like working with Maurice, because I just watched our big scenes and it worked so great. He came up to me before we taped these pivotal scenes, and he said, “Let’s do it. Let’s kill it.” And we did, and the scenes were written so well. And Maurice is the kind of guy that if you stay with him throughout the scene it will be a roller coaster, and that is what it’s supposed to be. When I first came on the show, because our characters were feeling each other out, as well as we as people, like, “Who is this guy that can just walk into my house and tell me how it is?” So, I don’t think Sonny has ever had to deal with a character like that. So it’s kind of interesting to be in a kind of fake position of power, because in reality, I am scared out of my pants going up against this guy. He could pull out a gun any second and shoot me. But as an actor, I felt like this was my best way to play it, even if it’s false bravado. I was to be able to come in and be the tough guy with Sonny.

He was good today. Kinda looking forward to see this beat playing out. Maurice says that he's going to play this like this is really the end of the lone for Sonny and as a viewer that sounds promising than the same old stuff even though this might end up like the same old stuff.

I think Dominic did better than maurice.
Maurice did his usual Al Pacino copying but Dominic played Dante so well. He wasn't over the top. He didn't start yelling and over acting. He had a lot of rage and the fact that you could see his rage boiling over though is eyes made him stand out. I really felt for Dante and how he felt about Mr. Parelli. When he said he didn't respect Sonny, I believed that.
Sadly the writers will ruin this.

Couldn't agree more. Dominic was great. GH actually has me looking forward to Monday.

ashlovesgh, I know your question was asked of BigDede but...........I am hanging with GH for actors/performances, I am loving JJ and RH, and I am looking forward to DZ/Dante and BB/Johnny finding out about Sonny, and by extension Olivia, and finally KMc/Robin taking Lisa down

ashlovesgh, okay I will admit there is something I do like about GH.
It was the Niz storyline. I loved Nik and Liz together. Now that it's over with, the fallout wasn't as great as I hoped. Yeah JJ rocked it but I was so hoping for a huge scene with Lucky and Nik that I never got. I wanted to see Lucky push Nik down some stairs or something. I really wanted to see some brother v brother stuff and it was a let down. Considering their history, the reveal was a total letdown. It's all about Liz and not the brothers.
That's what I feel will happen with this Dante/Sonny storyline. The reveal was excellent and when Sonny shot him, I loved it. But just like the Niz reveal didn't get me my brother v brother angle, I won't get the Sonny going to jail angle or the Olivia getting killed angle.
Okay the thing I love the most about GH, Johnny. Everything that man does gives me goosebumps. I like greasy Ethan. Alexis/Mac. I so can't wait to see Robin take down Lisa. I want to see some good pimp slaps out of Robin.
In all, GH has been having some great cliffhangers, but that's it. I want more.

BigDede and maxsmom- So there is stuff you like about the show! Lol that's great!
BigDede- About Niz...I liked them when they first starting flirting with one another and when they got drunk together at Jakes and kissed. Lucky and Liz weren't offically together then, so it wasn't as bad. I just didn't like when all the sneaky, sneaky happened. Liz saying she loved Lucky, just not the way he loved her, is when they lost me. I think it their storyline could have been a lot better. It seemed a bit icky, IMO. This is hilarious..."the Olivia getting killed angle." LMAO!! I see your point about the fallout between Sonny and Dante might be a letdown, but I'm going to try to have faith that they can pull it off. Hopefully!! And I love Johnny as well! I think him and Carly would be hot!
maxsmom- The performances are deffff. reason to tune in! ICAM!! And I really can't stand Lisa either.
Thank you guys for enlightening me as to what you enjoy about GH!
I try really, really hard to look at the good that GH is doing and that makes the bad a little more bearable.
