General Hospital Spoilers!
What a way to kick off Sweeps by having Sonny shoot his son! I know, it’s GH and Sweeps tends to start around someone getting shot or kidnapped but I for one am ready for this secret to be out and in the open. We all thought having Luke Spencer’s son become a cop was a slap in the face well Sonny Corinthos’s son being the undercover cop sent in to take the mobster down has actually been a story I enjoy. I probably give about eighty-five percent of the credit to Dominic Zamprogna simply because I think he’s the break out star of 2009. The other fifteen percent? It’s a combo of Lulu and Dante being created out of this and watching Michael go up against Dominic these past few days. Luke Kerr hates Michael the self righteous brat, despite loving Drew Garrett the actor (which is a true testament to this kid’s talent) but I love the ground work being set for these two brothers to really go at it after the reveal.
It takes a bullet wound to her son's chest for Olivia to finally tell her secret. Thank you! I don’t mind secrets as they are part of soaps but I cannot stand the long drawn out secret. In this instance, it fit the storyline since Dominic was undercover, so I rolled with it but I am happy it is finally coming out. What’s next for the newly expanded Corinthos Family? Dominic is ready to slap the cuffs on Sonny but wants to wait until after Josslyn is christened.
Before the shooting that gives Sonny another son… Michael goes to Jax when Sonny won’t take his warnings seriously. What will Jax say to his step-son about the undercover cop he already knows about? How long will that secret stay under wraps?
Remember, Jason and Sonny will already be looking into Dominic despite not really listening to Michael. I mentioned that Sonny might be ordering a hit. It looks like he sends Dominic out on a “job” that’s supposed to go wrong. When Dominic is late to the christening, Lulu and Olivia start to worry. Since Lulu’s the godmother, is that why only Olivia is seen in the promo with her shot son? After the shooting, Jason wants Sonny to not just skip town, but the country. Olivia is not happy when Sonny is the one who tells Dante he’s his daddy. Can we officially call him Dante now? Here’s a kicker, will Dante remember Sonny telling him the big news? RUMORS say he thinks it was all a dream. Sorry Dante, not a dream, he is your father and Dante is not happy with Olivia for lying to him. RUMOR has though that both Olivia and Dante cover for dear old dad.
The Kiefer-Kristina-Ethan mess... We had some questions in the last post so I did some digging into the matter. Here’s what I found out. Kristina decides it’s time to break things off with Kiefer but when she tries to do just that, things don’t go so well. Along comes Ethan and both he and Kiefer are caught with an out cold Kristina. SPOILERS say it’s Kiefer who convinces Kristina to lay the blame at Ethan’s feet and they go on to say that it’s Sam who does not buy the story Kristina is selling. Both Ethan and Kiefer are suspects in what happened until Kiefer works his abusive boyfriend magic.
The Q’s are getting some house guests which we the fans are hoping translates into screen time. Could we get more Quartermaine connected characters coming to Port Chuck? Who would you like to see come to town and which Quartermaine would you like to see them connected to? Comment away!
RANDOM and CRAZY RUMORS… Spouses should share secrets, right? Robin is not happy that Patrick didn’t share with her that Olivia birthed Sonny’s son. Luke shows some fatherly concern for his kids. He’s worried about Lulu dating the godfather’s son. Could Lucky not care that Elizabeth is handling their breakup well? Previous RUMORS had this as a way for them to get back together. Is this a classic case of things must get worse before they can get better? Does Michael confess to Claudia’s murder to his siblings? Sam MAY have a way to help Sonny and RUMORS say she MAY be stealing the weapon used to shoot Dante from the PCPD. Will one of the youngsters come down with an illness? RUMOR has it that Sam McCall could be remembering something unpleasant. Will Morgan continue to be close to Dante? Sam MAY be officially moving back into the penthouse. Elizabeth COULD be getting suspended from GH after another mistake. Will Jason be a witness to her meltdown? Jax will admit to Carly that he had something to do with the case against Sonny. Is that the beginning of the end for Carly and Jax?

I REALLY,REALLY HATE that Dante is going to lie to protect Sonny and that Sam is going to help cover this up. I also hate that Spinnilie is involved in helping Jason & Sonny take Dante out. I would love for Ned Ashton, Lois Cerullo & their daughter BrookLynn Ashton to come back to the Q's. For those who don't know or who don't remember, Ned is Tracy's son, Moncia's nephew and Jason's cousin and BrookLynn is Edward's great grand daughter by blood. Lois grew up with Sonny (and I guess Olivia and Kate) so there's a connection to the Corrinthos and Falconeri families and she's a friend of Jax's as well. Ned and Alexis almost got married once so there are ties to the Cassadine's too. I'm not sure how old BrookLynn would be now but I'd guess in her mid-twenties so that would put another girl on the canvas for Johnny, Spinelli, Dante, etc. And the Ashton/Cerullo family own a record company and BrookLynn is a singer so that would bring music back to the canvas and another profession in PC other than the mob. I've always loved all three of those characters!
Patrick didn't tell Robin about Olivia's secret as it's basically doctor/patient confidentiality so she shouldn't be upset with him for keeping it from her. And we all know how well Robin does keeping anything secret!
DZ, DG and JJ are so bringing it every day! GH is on fire right now and I'm looking forward to seeing much more of all three of them!

I'm so glad your spoilers are back. So, I've seen some rumors about a Liz and Jason scene and also a Liz and Sam scene. Is there any reason to let my liason-loving heart hope that Liz and Jason will be back in each other's orbits anytime soon. Personally, I think the idea of Jason and Nik going head-to-head would be fun. I didn't really watch when Courtney was around - did they fight over her or was that more Jax and Nik? Anyway, I've been really enjoying all this Liz stuff. She's been quite the tramp about town but I think that BH has really done a great job with the material. I'm mad at her and sorry for her all at the same time. I actually watched a whole show on Friday - that was probably the best episode I've seen since college - I'm 37 now.

No Jason and Nikolas did not go head to head over Courtney, it was Nikolas and Jax.
I would love to see the Ashton - Ceriullo crew head back to town however Wally is on Days and the last attempt didn't get the proper attention it deserved. It does make sense however with the dual connection you pointed out. What IF they wanted to create some "new" Q's like they are with these Wards that are coming in. Who would you like them to be connected to?

If I get to have Quartermaines back on the show, then I'd want Alan, AJ, Emily, Ned, Dillon, and any others they've cast aside in the past few years. And if you're bringing back the Wards, then start with Justus. I'm confused why they are creating all new ties to the Qs that ultimately Guza will ignore when they've got a plethora of Qs he's decimated to choose from. Let's face it, one good Dallas Bobby shower scene, and you can erase the damage Guza's done to the Qs.
And if they're looking to find money to pay for all these Qs to come back, then they should dump (and it hurts my heart to say it) the Cassadines. They've been irrelevant for years now, and I have serious, serious doubts that this alleged Cassadine/Spencer feud with Valentin will ever come to fruition. The Cassadines are a personal fave of mine, but I'll gladly throw them over to have my Q family back together.

I totally agree that plenty of Quartamaines have been cast aside that could be brought back. But.... what if you HAD to pick for some new Q's to hit town. Who would you want them connected to? What would be a link that fans would like to see?
Funny the Cassadines were mentioned... The Valentin story is SUPPOSED to be huge. It was delayed for Franco. A lot of story was re-worked/delayed for Franco. IMO, that was a waste of time but when a movie star knocks on your door, you answer and take a shot. We don't really know how long this Valentin story is set to last or if he will be a permanent fixture on the canvas. There is some CHATTER about a possible departure... but nothing that I can confirm.

Way to ruin a character Guza. Dante should have kept his convictions about mobsters now he's protecting the man that shot him. And Olivia, she didn't tell Sonny about his son to protect him, yet she protects Sonny after she shoots her son. Gawd I hate this woman!

Hmmm. Well, maybe an offspring of Celia's, either as a teenage bad girl or boy, or an older character who could become a doctor in the hospital. Maybe a Jimmy Lee Holt offspring to make Edward absolutely crazy. Or heck, give Tracy a forgotten kid that hates her guts. That would be must see TV!
I figured it got pushed back because of the Franco thing. I'm just afraid that Guza's ADD will kick in and he'll find something else shiny to play with and leave that whole story behind. There's no mention of it for February sweeps, save for Helena coming back, but they've squandered her last few visits, so I'm not expecting anything better here.
And I think I know who you're speaking of in terms of a possible departure, and I have to say, even as a former huge fan, I'm more than ready to see him or her go.

Okay is it all that hard for TIIC to write a storyline for Sam. Why didn't they just keep her with Lucky.
Now she's helping Sonny? Seriously, LuSam should have just stayed put. Sam has no life outside of Jason. Even today, if you blinked you would have missed her. If she isn't telling Jason about how great he is or helping him cover for Mykill or Sonny, she's useless.
Why couldn't they just keep LuSam?

As usual, I can't wait to sit down tonight and watch GH - takes my mind off all the mundane daily things going on. Dante is the best thing ever to hit GH or any soap I watch for that matter. I loved it when he got ticked off at Mommy Dearest Olivia. He goes from charming, sad, happy, ticked off with ease and believability. I hope he is around for awhile. Love Sam and Jason but tired of the Michael/Franco crud. I hope they wrap that up soon. I would like more light stuff going on such as Alexis/Mac and Diane/Max. Look forward to more Quartermaine action as well. Thanks for the spoilers. As always, very interesting.

There's gotta be an Alan Quartermaine or Monica Quartermaine illegitimate child out there somewhere? Didn't Ned have an affair with Monica. Obviously, no child resulted from this, but that storyline was entertaining.
What about the return of Sky? She is multi-canvas.
Also, it'd be cool if they could connect someone through Lyla, a true pillar of the show.

I don't believe the ratings at all!!! Having been a Nelson "family" when I was single and in my 20's I know it's a bunch of BS. What an incredibly outdated system these idiots use to supposedly rate how many viewers are actually watching what shows! Too bad they can't find out from all the cable and satellite companies who's watching what and when and then perhaps they might have a more accurate accounting. And count those that tape the shows for later and also watch SoapNet. Otherwise it's just a bunch of made up figures that certainly do not reflect the truth. I find it ridiculous that advertisers who are probably college educated and fairly intelligent actually rely on early 20th century technology to show them what 21st century people are viewing! They may place weight on the Nelson ratings but I most definitely do not!

No, it's impossible to get same-day ratings. However, it's possiblevto get preliminary ratings overnight. Also, Nielsen does count cable, satellite and DVR viewers as long as the show is viewed via DVR within a certain amount of time. They even attempt to wire computers if they are used to view television program with a tuner. Still, there is really no way to figure out WHO is watching a program. The only thing they can gauge is what age groups are in the home or, for example, who belongs in what bedroom. Nielsen will even phone if there are more televisions on than there are people in the house. Also remember that there is some fraction of the Nielsen population that will deliberately screw up the sample because they think it's cute. Someone needs to come up with a better system for sure.

Daytime ratings are released on Friday for the previous week, so the most recent ratings available are for the week ending Jan. 15. You can also see season to date ratings. The earliest ratings for a show would be overnight ratings but they are only checked in certain markets and so are not complete and I am not sure they release daytime's overnight numbers.
