Is NutMeg a Threat to Damian and Lily?
By Luke Kerr on December 02, 2009
As the World Turns has another great promo that has me thanking the soap gods it is making a creative comeback. NutMeg (Marie Wilson) watches Lily (Noelle Beck) and Damien (Paolo Seganti), Brad (Austin Peck) spies on Simon (Paul Leyden) and Katie (Terri Colombino) and Carly (Maura West) takes on Craig (Jon Lindstrom)! Watch the promo after the jump.

I'm glad you are enjoying ATWT. I recently added ATWT back on to my DVR in order to catch Lesli Kay and and Paul Leyden.
I am very familiar with the show and I am sorry to say it doesn't hold my interest. The Thanksgiving show really looked cheap, even though it was a treat to see Nancy Hughes back for that episode. But without Bob & Kim, Tom, Casey, etc....it looked really cheap. Ah well, I am sure that there may long time viewers that are happy with the show, but I probably won't keep it on my DVR for very long. I fast forward through much of it.

I'm really enjoying ATWT right now; in a recent DC article said they will be using the vets more and Nancy which is great, I like the sence with Katie, she should help her more. ATWT is not forgetting their history and older fans. I'm a long time viewer, it's popular in the Midwest Kansas; couldn't get a ABC station.

LOL @ NutMeg. I loved how she was just 'there' when Damian turned around.

I started to watch ATWT because of Jack and Carly!
As for nutmeg I am supposed to believe that Damian is scared of that nut? For me it is unbelievable! There are so many ways to make her look like she IS nut!
I hope the real Damian is back shortly!

The fear for Damian is that she knows he was withholding the truth that Holden was alive before he married Lily. As days and weeks go by, NutMeg is becoming more unstable and unhinged. I loved how Lily told Damian she was going to tear her hair out strand by strand.

I hope that Damien's mother comes back and take NutMeg out.

I really dislike Damien. His mother needs to come and grab him by the ear and take him home and open a full can of whop-azz on him. I would love that or nut-Meg to off him and make it look like someone else did it. Whe world would be better off withought the likes of Damien. BTW I am loving Holden and Molly.

I would love to see Holden & Molly together. They have a child, and besides Lily doesn't deserve him!
Am loving Mick and maybe I'm crazy, but could he BE James? Anyway, I hope he sticks around for a long time.

I am semi-enjoying the show--but it does still have a long way to go. The best thing would be for Nutmeg to be murdered--there would be great fallout from that story.
1) Mystery of who did it
2) Lily accused and arrested --putting a wrench in the new Holden/Molly romance since he will stand up for his ex-wife
3) Story for Tom and Margo during the trial--they are on opposite sides.
3) Emma and Lucinda go to war over the trial--Emma wanting Lily convicted for killing her daughter and Lucinda defending her. It would give these two big talents a really good story. Imagine Emma's torment--she loves Lily like a daughter but believes she killed Meg and so forth
4) Eventual custody battle over Eliza--Snyders vs Ryans--nice and juicy for sure.
5) Of course, Office Grady did it--Meg was threatening to expose his new found money source etc.
If the writers don't do something like this to build for Feb ratings--they are nuts!

Being the one who coined the term NUTMEG I'm incredibly proud it's in the headline. I have to say with the exception of a couple things ATWT has been really good lately. I think bringing back some of the off the canvas characters was a good thing. You partially got a crash course on Katie through the men Jack went to. I hope they keep Jack and Carly apart though. Janet will call him out on his mess and he needs that.

I have started watching ATWT again and while things are slightly better than they were when at their worst earlier this year and last, they're still not quite gelling. I'm willing to give them time to continue improving--I just hope they continue on an upward trajectory! They need to slow their storytelling down a little bit, in my opinion. I still can't stand characters saying, "I'm going right over to Java" and one second later their opening the door to the coffee shop. Throw ONE freakin' scene in between for Soap's sake!
I'm glad to see old favorites back (Molly and Simon) even if only for a little while, but I do wish they'd continue the restructuring of the show and bring Lucinda back into the mix and put the Hughes Family at the center again. If anything, the show feels off balance to me these days. Just a bunch of characters--no family structures.
Let's hope TPTB at ATWT have finally decided to TCB and bring this show back from the brink of disaster!

I really hope they don't kill Meg. As over-exposed as Marie Wilson was for the last several years, the character is still valuable. What they need to do (what is almost seems they are doing) is make Meg Snyder a manipulator and schemer again. When Marie Wilson brought her back to town, Meg was written like Doris Day. When Jennifer Ashe, the originator of the role in the '80s, played the part, Meg was restless and wanted to climb the social ladder. She didn't much like her sister Iva, either. First she wanted Dusty when Lily had him...and then she was angry because she thought Lily was a b*tch and wanted her away from her brother, Holden, and then she latched on to slimeball businessman, Tonio Reyes--despite everyone's objections to the match. Meg should have returned a few years ago as a bitter schemer, but they blew it. NOW that she's been through so much drama with Paul Ryan, she SHOULD be reverting back to being a schemer! The show needs someone to stir the pot!
Killing Meg would be the dumbest thing they could do--and I'm tired of shows deep-sixing characters as February, May or November sweeps stunts. It's reckless. If a character is no longer useful, send them out of town. If it were to turn out that Officer Grady were to have killed Meg, that was a big waste. Oh, and for the reocrd, Emma treats Lily "like a daughter" because she's her grandmother (Lily's mother, Iva, is Emma's adopted daughter). Emma would NEVER want to see Lily sent to jail--even if she killed Holden! Vengence is not what the character has ever been about from day one. Lastly, accusing Lily of killing Meg would simply turn it into a story about Lily and with Noelle Beck in the role, I'm not interested in seeing that much (more) of her.

I do have to say, since you mentioned you just tuned back in, the pace IS slower! Many viewers have been complaining this year that the pace of storylines was so quick (one episode or a week for some) that all the vital points were not being played out. I don't like the time warp either, but it's better than it has been. Hopefully, things will get fine tuned a bit more.
What I find distracting is the total lack of anything going on with these characters except the main story they are in. For example, Lily/Meg/Damian/Holden is good soap, but it is the ONLY thing these four have going on. There is no integration with other characters and their dialogue repeats because there is little else for them to talk about. Meg is only involved with Damian and sometimes Lily; Lily wavers between Holden and Damian; Damian tries to dodge Meg and Holden. There are no storylines involving other members of their families or friends and NOBODY seems to have anything to do with work. Another example...Luke works for Damian, but you would never know that because he never goes to work and struggles with being a gay guy whose father hired him into a top management spot with no experience. These are huge holes for me and make me feel like I'm watching things in bits and pieces and only getting summaries. Adding more to their lives would layer stories and slow the pace down.
I remember Ashe and I do not want to see Meg killed off.
