Gotham The Series Premieres!
By Mike Jubinville on November 23, 2009

Gotham the Series made its Internet debut this evening. The 3:25 minute episode opened with Richard Manning (Michael Park) listening to his messages from characters he will encounter in future episodes. He was on his way to a party where he locked eyes on Catherine Prescott (Martha Byrne) while she was chatting it up with her BFF Tina Havens (Anne Sayre). The look they exchanged left no doubt there is some untended fire from their past relationship. Catch the premiere episode of the Web's latest soap opera after the jump.

This first episode looks like fun to me!

I liked it. My only thing was it seemed more like a preview than an episode. Should be good though. As soap fans I think we all should support these Web Soaps. The web seems to be the future for these actors and the genre. I look forward to what Martha Byrne and Crystal Chappell can bring.

I highly doubt that webseries are the future of the genre.
I didn't think it was bad, I really don't know what to think, but if I'm supposed to think that these webseries are supposed to be some kind of rival to daytime soaps than I don't think they stand a chance. They are too darn short, I mean the commercial breaks during my regular soaps last longer.
This isn't a dig towards Gotham but webseries in general.
How do one get hooked on these things?

I thought it was fun too. IA-- a little short. I would like it if it were at least 10 minutes--but maybe webisodes are supposed to be very short
I think the background music should be a little softer or something.
I am excited to see more and adore Martha B, Great to see MP and Anne

I think webseries are maybe not the future of soaps but a hope for soaps in a way with all the worry of cancellation, with Gotham, Venice and all the other webseries out there, there is the possibility of keeping the genre alive. I do hate that there so short though I think Crystal said Venice was 6 minutes an episode.

Would've been nice if this had been 6 minutes long. I would've gotten more out of it. What I want to know is if the director, Lisa Brown, is the same Lisa Brown that played Nola on Guiding Light.

Jorpa, yes it's the same one. She also played Iva on ATWT.

Lisa Brown looks to have a big hand in this, which is awesome. Anyone else besides me recognize Margaret Reed's (ex-Shannon O'Hara, ATWT) voice in one of the voicemails that Richard was listening to in the beginning?
