Y&R's Morrow is Lucky, Lucky, Lucky

If you love Joshua Morrow, check out his interview with Canyon News. The Young and the Restless's Nick Newman sat down and chatted about his life on and off screen. Morrow talked about how he felt about his alter ego, as well as the writing team, helmed by Maria Arena Bell,
I think Maria [Bell] has been a savior for our show. She’s returned to the old school telling of stories. I love the way she writes Nick. He’s not perfect, he makes a lot of mistakes and doesn’t seem to be able to make up his mind between two women. But he’s a man who is truly in love with both of these amazing women.
Joshua also had high praise for his wife, who spends most of her time taking care of their three boys.
My wife is amazing. I work a lot, so she has to be the main parent in the family. She does so with ease. I am very lucky to have her and our sons and I never forget that on a daily basis. Family means everything to me and it does to her as well. We try to always do things together as a family on my off-time. That’s one of the many reasons why I love being on ‘Y&R,’ they afford me the time to be with my family whenever I need to be.

Please, the only thing Maria Arena Bell and her writing is doing is destroying the Nick character. He's totally unsympathetic and nasty. He totally degrades the two women he can't choose between. This storyline has gone on for way too long, isn't fun anymore, and is offensive to women.
Marie Arena Bell, Hogan Shefffer, and Scott Hamner need to be fired for this crap and the mockery Y&R has become.

I think Joshua Morrow conflates his amount of screentime with his storyline actually being good.

Dang for a minute there I thought two things A. That for some reason JJ pulled out of GH Josh Morrow quit and got hired to be Lucky all in one day lol and B. Or Greg Vaughn just took Morrows job. Of course both of these thoughts passed quickly through my brain they'd never happen....or will they dun dun dun.

Do the actors get a bonus for praising MAB? She had a good time on the show, but most recently there is not much to consider her "a savior for our show".
And as for the character of Nick, I agree with DaytimeLuv. All Nick has done in the past year was messing up two woman. He lost a lot of charm in his development as a pathetic serial cheater who pretends to love both of these women. And that's what he loves to play? Over an entire year? That's shocking to me. At least that's not a reason to praise her as a savior.
I don't think that the writers should be fired. MAB proved last year that she can write. The writing isn't that bad. They just have to fix a few things and end storylines. Don't bring one psycho after another to the show and give us some happy moments. Watching Y&R at the moment is really depressing.
I try to enjoy the good performances towards Colleen's death, but I'm just unable to. It's depressing. Really depressing. And I just don't watch TV to see people crying, suffering and scheming one ridiculous plot after another. That's not the Y&R Maria gave us last year. That's an really awful version of it.

Josh Morrow is indeed lucky...
Lucky that this show loves his lame buck-toof scruffy ass and has employed him since age 19.
And lucky that, despite being a terrible actor, he is not the worst actor in the world. Or even on Y-&-R.
Go, Josh!

Glad he likes the way she has written Nick, I sure don't. I used to love Nick and Sharon together, thought I would root for them forever. Now I hope he stays away because Nick has become a pathetic joke.

I'm with you, Chilly Fan. I'm to the point that I would be happy if Nick, Sharon and Phyllis would all just move off-screen to Utah. Of course, all MAB would do is tell the same story but with Billy, Mac and Chloe...

Morrow is a good actor. There are far worse actors on daytime.
His storyline with Sharon and Phyllis, however, sucks. It's the same back and forth, emotionally manipulative, and intellectually dishonest motivations.
No, I don't think that the writers need to be fired. The revolving door of writers has to stop.
They are all great writers. They are just misguided and afraid. It's a scary time for soaps and they are trying desperately to put on something that works and will garner more viewers. Some of those decisions have been disastrous and others have been brilliant.
I'm just tired of the sexist portrayal of women always being emotionally or psychologically desperate because of a failed love affair. None of the men on Y&R ever have breakdowns because of affairs gone wrong.
Has there been any explanation for Sharon's blackouts and kleptomania that makes sense? "Oh! She was under stress."

Phew!! The Headline made me grab my tummy in pain that we'd lose him to that OTHER Crappy ABC show, GH!! (AMC being the 1st...)
No hate I'll spew to Y&R (just the baby switch!) but I will agree JM does a good job with the wishy-washy story's he's sometimes handed.
OH- - and MY VOTE for Worst Actor in Daytime: Cam Matheson. Hands. Down.

Sometimes one wonders if they lived under a rock!
Nick as a character is being dislike by so many people, even Phick and Shick fans are now reuniting and agreeing about what an awful character Nick is!
Just mind boggling!

He is really kissing up to the boss, Maria Arena Hell, LOL. His character is a joke and I wish that Phyllis would run him over like she did Cricket and Paul, LOL and get with Deacon(that would be hot) or Paul.

Nick has always been selfish and slutty. It didn't start with Maria's writing

This Sharon/Nick/Phyllis triangle is about as entertaining as Brooke/Ridge/Taylor. The only difference is B&B is about camp and absurdity, whereas Y&R likes to believes it's more highbrow than that. However, this storyline has become rather dull.
What's frustrating is, as a viewer, I have no faith Nick will be devoted to Sharon once he discovers Faith's true lineage. I suspect it will be back and forth for a long time when any of these three characters could have a more entertaining, less meandering storyline. It's like there is no blueprint involved.
AND DO THESE PEOPLE WORK ANYMORE!?!? I am DYING for a corporate storyline. Those are always fun and cast-inclusive. Give me a scene in Newman Enterprises or Neil's office at Chancellor. That corporate takeover with the Jack and Co. was on FIYAH, and it was just dropped. WTF?
Sorry. Got off track ...
This baby swapping, heart transplant mess is insane because Y&R is better than that. There have been COUNTLESS baby swaps. If a show of Y&R's caliber wants to go that route, fine. But, make it fresh. Put a new spin on it. Their main objective should have been to use the Sheila/Lauren baby switch as a record to break. Otherwise, don't bother showcasing a boring version of a story that is overtly hackneyed.
And nobody can TOUCH GH's transplant story from the 90s. Cannot be done. B&B came close, and I commend them for putting a new spin on it with the suicide.
And can we talk about Adam's motivation? How do any of his antics play into his endgame? He is being portrayed at the stupidest sociopath ever. How does any of his deeds hurt Victor? It would add up if he hated Ashley and wanted to destroy her. That whole storyline is just ugh to me.
Back to the triangle. Phyllis, Nick and Sharon are NOT and have NEVER been portrayed as super idiots. Well, sometimes, Nick. But, I can't root for anyone in this situation because I spend my time rolling my eyes and thinking, "Really? Are you f*cking kidding me?" whenever their scenes play out. Phyllis is not weak. This woman tried to commit vehicular homicide, busted up a honeymoon, may have killed her bf, etc. There is no way she should be the second coming of Dr. Taylor Hayes to Sharon's Brooke.
Memo to the writing team Morrow is praising: We viewers are not idiots. I tuned out for most of LML's run on the show and I'm not above doing it again until you guys stop pretending you're monkeys throwing poop in the form of chipmunk costumes, women going crazy for no good damn reason, lamer than lame gay characters with no storylines, no Black, Hispanic or Asian characters, etc.
DO BETTER, GUYS IN CHARGE! You can do it, or I will join the bandwagon and help General Hospital topple you guys in the ratings department during Franco's run and keep OLTL and DOOL on the air.
