DC #461: CBS and Days Nikki is French for Neo
On today’s CBS and Days of Our Lives episode of Daytime Confidential Luke, Jamey, Jillian and Melodie discuss the latest in As the World Turns, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless storylines and news, including:
The Barbara vs. Audrey is one of As the World Turns’ saving graces. Eileen Fulton wants her iconic character, Lisa Grimaldi, killed off. Luke wishes they'd just give her a good storyline, but Jamey has a suggestion on how they could kill Lisa off when the time comes. Is Lily Snyder a hot mess.
The Bold and the Beautiful's Stephanie suffers a stroke. Marcus learns who his father is. Jillian suggests someone who she believes would make a good Marcus recast. Luke and Jamey think Jacqueline MacInnes Woods might be improving a little, but Jillian can't co-sign that.
Victor walks Kate down the aisle to marry Stefano on Days of Our Lives. Lucas gets drunk again and goes to rehab. Crystal Chappell returns to Salem as Carly on Friday. Are Louise Sorel and Crystal Chappell storyline proof? Jamey thinks so.
The Abbotts find out that Colleen is brain dead and confront making the decision of taking her off life support, as Victor struggles for his life. Jillian and Melodie are in heaven, having Nikki back in Geona City. Bryton James tweets about the "black box" on The Young and the Restless and then clarifies his comment.
The DC gang picks the worst storylines currently in daytime. All this and much more on today's show.

I agree about Louise and Crystal at least for Crystal fans and returning fans of the characters we just want to see them on screen going at it again. I don't have super high hopes for the storyline (Days has taught me well) but they can usually make crap storylines Emmy worthy.

Thank you Jamey & Jillian for stating the stuff about Lily, Devon, and Neil stuff. I have your back on this one. Like you said Jamey, all black people don't act like Lily. You are spot on the money! You are right that she is very close to appearing white and it's easier for them to fit her in with everyone else. I don't care it needed to be said. Thank you all for KEEPING IT 100!!!! Whether people like it or not it's the TRUTH!!!
It was nice when we had Dru/Malcom and then Neil/Olivia. It was a nice balance. It's a shame that they can continue to come up with ridiculous storyline for Amber, Kevin, Daniel, and Jana but they can't do anything with Neil or Devon. It's pathetic and Y&R if they keep it up will lose these loyal african-american viewers because it's getting old.
I can't wait until next week to hear you all's reaction to Christel Khalil's interview with BuzzWorthyRadio. I called in and asked about her relationship with Victoria Rowell and stuff.

Another great podcast guys. Y&R, I agree with very much of what you all said. But, not sure I'd rate it as high as you all do though. While not AMC bad, it's getting very unwatchable for me.
Your talk about Hogan Sheffer/MAB and who's getting blamed etc, was very interesting. One theory I was hearing, was that while MAB is listed as the EP and HW of the show and "the boss", some theorized if she is more or less a figurehead put there to please the Bell family who owns part of the show I beleive (and pleases the viewers as well saying a Bell is once again at the helm), but in reality that Paul Rauch and Hogan are truly running the show, and placed there by Sony to decrease MAB power/influence on the show. Any truth to that or makes sense at all? Certainly an interesting theory, at least. Whatever's the case, hopefully the show improves.

Young and the Restless: Guys, not sure if I want to continue watching Y&R especially after yesterday's (9-29-09) epi. The one thing that really was the deciding factor - Ashley w/her big ass belly (heretofore - not shown as being so big and supposedly no live baby) went into damn labor at the same time as Sharon. And Michael Muhney (so sick of - is the character blind or what). Still continuing to FF through Kevin/Jana Amber/Daniel/Deacon and Gloria/Jeff scenes. I turned it off. I tell you my head was about to explode - I don't know how to describe it and I said that's it. A lot of us knew very early on that there was going to be a baby switch storyline. How is it that this soap is #1 and furthermore, are black folks responsible for the show's #1 rating. I can't imagine there being an equal amount of black folks who are Nielsen members who are propping up the ratings for this show. Shame on you black folks if that is the reason behind the ratings.
Bold and the Beautiful: I am enjoying the Marcus/Donna/Justin storyline on B&B - so far so good. I thought Texas Battle (Marcus) did good with his reaction upon learning that Justin (Aaron D. Spears) was his father and Aaron Spears is just knocking it out of the ballpark with his. The storyline with Bill wanting to take financial control of Forrester is also going to be interesting and will involve Aaron Spears

Watching Y&R just depresses me at the moment. This show goes through so much chaos, schemes and lies you have to put up with, it's not watchable anymore.
Where are the happy moment in this show. These days you see just crazy or dying people, if not criminals.
The acting can be as good as hell ... I just don't care anymore when the show is so dark.
So sorry but this show is number 2 or 3 on my list anymore. This show comes still before AMC and ATWT but that's about it.

Oh Jamey. Dutch Land? Seriously? LOL!
That reminded me a little of when ATWT had Rose escape that aging spa and they mentioned that she was in Belgium near the town of Den Bosch. But that's a city in the Netherlands. Lol
I think it's a shame that Liz Hubbard has to go to a Dutch soap to get a storyline, but at the same time I love it, because it's the soap I've watched since I was practically a baby. And after a few ridiculously bad years the show turned around a year ago and is on fire! Love. This. Show.
The reason why her appearance on this show is possible is because she visits the Netherlands a lot (Her partner is Dutch and lives here).
The way I interpreted the interview with Eileen Fulton was that she would love to work more and have storylines but if they don't want to give her that she would like to have one final exciting storyline before the show ends (in the same interview she also talked about the cancelation rumors).
