Well the 60 minutes "tribute" was quickly short.

Really? It was as long as just about any profile segment is on 60 Minutes. What, did you expect a 30 minute retrospective?

J Bernard, thanks for the insight about this industry and love your columns. I do agree that I think that soaps have to evolve with the times and stop with the same old storytelling that is crippling and destroying this industry. I think that the web will be the future of soaps if tptb get with the program.

east west, I hope everyone will follow your advice. It would make for a more memorable week for everyone, I think. Good suggestion. Smile

thnxs TV Gord. i haven't been w/the show long, but in the grand scheme this is still an event that was going to happen anyways, but instead of being mad i think we should just look at the bigger picture and know that this show is going out on a good note.

WHen I was a kid, we only got in 3 channels and all 3 of them showed soaps during the day, so if you were at home and had the tv going yhou watched them. Nowadays we get 100+ channels so you have a choice,

One thing about a dayly soap is in no other form of broadcast do you get to see character devolopment of this kind, in one month One life to Live will do more episodes then a season of heroes, you have time to see the characters , and that is something soaps do uniquly is you can see a character 4 times a week, all new every week of the year, so you get to know them

Yep, Mimi Torchin said the same thing in Nelson Branco's column only a few days ago.

Here is the CBS Sunday Segment of Guiding Light It's really good.
Don't watch Let's Make a deal or other soaps will suffer the same faith.

I think it doesn't matter if watch Let's Make A Deal or not. CBS will not be producing another soap to take it place. If the game show fails, they will just add another talk show or do some daytime reality show than invest in another soap. What would be the incentive?

GH deserves to die. It's turned into a political hack fest. The ratings continue to tumble, yet Frons keeps pushing HIS favs, even when it's more than obvious they're not the FAN's favs. Die GH, die.
