Grade Vanessa Williams' Daytime Emmy Hosting

Ugly Betty's Vanessa Williams hosted the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, live from L.A. Singing and dancing her way through the award show Williams did her best to keep things moving, even as The CW cut to commercial with little concern for if someone was on stage speaking. From a programming perspective, it would have been nice if The CW had left out the final dance number, allowing more time for the Guiding Light tribute and the Outstanding Drama Series acceptance speech. Disregarding The CW's behavior I think Williams did a respectable job.

What grade do you give Vanessa Williams' hosting of the Daytime Emmy Awards?

Ditto, J. Bernard. Vanessa Williams did a wonderful job with what were not easy hosting duties.

I thought Vanessa did a nice job. It's certainly not her fault that they scheduled 2 musical numbers, cut off the GL tribute , and cut to the credits immediately following the B&B win!

Yeah, I thought she was a good host. Her intro was funny.

I was wondering why the show ended so abruptly. I wanted to hear what Brad Bell had to say about his first when in this category. Did we even see Brad Bell at least touch the Emmy?

Ms. Williams WAS a great hostess of the show. I also agree, that it wasn't her fault that the producers behind the show, decided to NOT cut the 2nd singing number, the "fashion show" (which had a really bad segway into "Feed the Children" segment). Who in their right mind, thinks that something vapid as a fashion segment is a good lead-in for a charity based feature, that's being supported by the Daytime industry?!

TIIC really didn't think things through and that's not Ms. Williams' fault.

I mean, I love looking at hot men, but Gilles isn't going to segway all his screentime at the Daytime Emmys into a current role on a daytime soap opera. Isn't he supposed to do a couple of apperances on ABC primetime shows like Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters?!

Vanessa did great and gave the show class and love hosting it. The producer should of have shown more classic GL clips and the actors giving the show a big farewell.

Vanessa was fabulous, giving the show class, humor and elegance. As to giving her two numbers, I think they HAD to do it...there would be a huge questions mark for hiring this triple threat to just have her stand there and announce the next presenter. It's a tough call.
