BREAKING: Tamara Braun Wins Supporting Actress (Updated)
By Jillian Bowe on August 30, 2009
Congrats to Tamara Braun, such a sweet speech. The odds were in her favor to win this award since the actress had stints on both Days of Our Lives and All My Children.
Editor's note:
Most Emmy predictions for this category–including Daytime Confidential's Luke and Jamey–had anticipated One Life to Live's Bree Williamson winning the award, though Jamey had said Braun should win it.
Braun's win marks the third win Days of Our Lives has had in the category. Suzanne Rogers won the first Outstanding Supporting Actress award in 1979 and Leann Hunley won the award in 1986.
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Melissa Claire Egan - All My Children
Alicia Mishew - All My Children
Julie Pinson - As the World Turns
Tamara Braun - Days of Our Lives*
Bree Williamson - One Life to Live

I don't know how she didn't win an Emmy during her time as Carly on GH--she's one of the best daytime actors ever . . . but I'm sad that Bree Williamson didn't win for her heart-wrenching performances as Jessica dealt with Nash's death in that Jackie O reminiscent yellow dress.

I'm still in shock, I can't believe that Bree Williamson didn't win. I didn't see Tamara Braun's duration on DOOL but from what I've read and heard, it wasn't that wonderful. Bree Williamson had an amazing year, a year that any actress would love. She had such a heartbreaking story and she played it like the pro that she is. Bree was definitely robbed... no question.
However, congrats to TB.

Bree Williamson should have won I mean come ons she was on fire when dealing with Nash's death and being Jess/Tess/Bess. She gave a hell of a performance of her career. Nope ABC was snub . Only to have it given to a woman who only played a role for six months. I mean what the heck are those Emmy voters smoking ?

"I didn't see Tamara Braun's duration on DOOL but from what I've read and heard, it wasn't that wonderful."
I didn't see it either but I actually heard she did a good job with the role.

I saw Tamara on Days and imo she was wonderul and really gave that show a shot in the arm, Bree was good but sometimes the emmy voters can be picky and this year they might not of voted for her because she was a little over the top it also helped Tamara because she's been on three shows.

But that's what happens sometimes, it does go to someone who was only on a show a few months.

Happy for Tamara Braun. And trilled Bree Williamson didn't win. She's so annoying!

Tamara was awesome on DOOL and I am so happy she won! Yes Bree was great, but her and Alicia Minshew shouldn't even be in this category to begin with. They were both leads. Plus Tamara's been on 3 soaps, so that probably helped her as well. I think it was a toss-up between between Bree and Tamara so I don't think either one would have been "robbed".

Tamara Braun's brief role on DOOL was stunt casting at best. She is a very talented actress and was superb as Carly on GH. However, the story line of Ava Vitali and her performance was a real waste, DOOL worked so hard to improve. It has some great performances for Allison Sweeney and Arianna Zucker. It is sad that actors who have been loyal to the show and worked to deliver to the fans - are shut out for someone who had a slight role that lasted less than 6 months.

Libby, I understand where your coming from but Tamara was on Days for 6 months in 2008, which was the same amount of time that Arianna Zucker was on. Plus, Tamara's role during most of that time was in the lead story! Usually the type of part she played would have been over-the-top and ridiculous, but in my opinion Tamara made Ava more real instead of being just a mustache twirling cartoon. Even though she did these horrible things, I felt bad for the character and I believe no one but Tamara could have made me like Ava!
We also have to remember that the DOOL cast put her name up for the final 2 spots. It was probably strategic and it paid off! She won Days an acting Emmy and it had been a long time since that had happened.

Tamara is my favorite actress on daytime and has been for several years--I'm so happy and thrilled that she won (she should've won for Carly in 2004)
that being said, I think Bree should've won and got robbed YET AGAIN. this is the 2nd or 3rd time the last 4 or 5 years that she should've clearly won an Emmy and did not. What does she have to do?

At least this should have been a tie not supporting actor. this is crap.
Bree u were robbed! She was the clear winner. I love Tams but come on hell no! Bree deserved to win!

I saw Tams on DAYS as well, and felt she gave a really good performance (the writing on the other hand was awful, imo.) But sure, she definitely had an advantage since she's been on three shows. Plus, I would argue this award is also for her performance on AMC as Reese (another character that was written terribly, but was helped by Tams working her magic.)
It's not really fair, but that's the way these things work.
She seemed genuinely surprised and was so gracious

I am beyond thrilled that Tamara won. I believe it was well deserved. She got me to watch Days and to stay completely tuned into the storyline.
Congrats Tamara!!

Lets also remember, its common that when the Emmys (or really any awards show) makes a mistake one year, the next time that person is up, that sort of seems to get factored in. I am sure that part of why Genie Francis won the year she did, when she too was on for such a short time, was in part because she had never been recognized for her body of work. Tams got robbed not receiving an Emmy for her portrayal of Carly Corinthos. This S.A. Emmy probably was in part for Ava, in part for Reese and in part for Carly.

I am so happy Tamara won. She deserved it. I thought she brought so much depth to Ava, a character that could have been just another whack job. For me Ava was intense, funny, maddingly sexy, and scary as hell. I didn't know whether I wanted to shag her or run from her.
I don't think Bree was robbed, it's not like Alicia Minshew won. There were those who either picked Tamara to win or thought she should win.
IMO Tamara got robbed in '04. Those scenes when she found out Michael was "dead" still linger. She was brilliant.
TAMARA, YAY FOR YOU!!!

Tamara definitely got robbed in '04. I saw Tams for her entire stint on Days (she got me to tune back in there), as well as seeing her and Bree's Emmy reel. Tams was definitely the saving grace of Ava and did a great job, but Bree had one of those scintilating performances that just screams "Emmy!". she was utterly brilliant during Nash's death and deserved to be honored.

I think there is some backlash toward Alicia and maybe even toward bree for putting themselves in the "easier" category. Perhaps that factored in??
The two Emmy results I have been most upset with over the years was the year Tams lost and the year Kassie DePaiva lost when OLTL went live.
