Guiding Light Donates Another $10,000 to Peapack Church

As Guiding Light wrapped filming today, the show held a church service to commemorate its 72 years on the air. During the service, GL gave the church a $10,000 check.

A $10,000 donation from the show to the church paid for new chandeliers and refurbished lighting in a community room, Henry said.

Another $10,000 donation from Guiding Light was accepted by the Borough Council on July 28, to be used for picnic tables and benches at Komline Park off Apgar Avenue. The show also donated a new gazebo for the Komline property, another frequent Guiding Light location, said Mayor William Horton.

It amazes me that GL has all this money to give to Peapack but the Spauldings have a wedding in a field and drive a Ford Explorer. I just don't understand it sometimes.

My mom will miss this show dearly, people get so involed no mater how bad the show is, they know the characters history better then there own families, they are in their lives daily. It's like loosing a family member the networks have forgotten that.

No offence to the town, she never liked the real town setting, misses the Bauer kitchen. She has been watching the show since it began on TV, she may go to ABC, she started watching GH, but had to tell her that it's on the choping block too. She will not watch Let's make a deal. Looks like the GL writers are hard at work destorying ATWT.

The suits are doing their work in getting those charitable contribution tax write-offs at least...

Spilt milk. $10,000 would not have paid for a lavish TV wedding.

Given that most soap weddings lead to divorce in six months to a year, I know longer care about huge weddings or people getting married. Marriage on soaps have no real meaning when you have 30 year-olds who have had 5 marriages.

And are we not sure the donation wasn't the company of hard working cast and crew digging in to their own pockets as a thank you....

Given how slashed to the bone their salaries already are, I highly doubt that the actors and crew partook of these charitable contributions. I imagine it's the corporations -- PGP/TeleNext/CBS -- that made the contributions in the form of cash and other tangible assets/property to Peapack to lower their tax liabilities.

man, they could have used this money to have extras at the weddings and funerals! Here I bit my tongue while they put the same characters in the same outfits week after week. I figured I'd give them a break since they had a small budget. The truth is in the details. How about an actual chandelier from the Spauldings? I'm with you Mel, I'll just never understand it. And leave it to Ellen Wheeler the Healer to donate it to the church!

It takes $10K to put in a chandelier and some new lights? What the hell are they made of, Gold?

Well, I think that all this money should go to better things, like "Losing your job" bonus checks maybe? Hmm. But I digress. I will miss you my light. :/
