Robin Strasser Doesn't Want to See OLTL "Joining Guiding Light"

One Life to Live's Dorian Lord may not be known for backing down, but thankfully her portrayer is a lot more rational. Robin Strasser spoke to Soap Opera Weekly about why she decided to be a part of the solution to keep her soap from going the way of Guiding Light.
Robin Strasser: I will say for the record that I called Frank [Valentini, executive producer] at about 3:15 yesterday. I said, "Frank, Frank, I hope you're happy to hear this but I can't, I can't...I have to say 'yes'. Whatever ABC wants to pay me is okay, I just love what I do and I can't continue in this holding pattern. 'Yes, I'm in, I'm in. Send me a contract, I'll sign it.' He said, 'Okay. That's great. I'll call legal and we'll close this up.' And then I said, 'So what about the rumors?' He said, 'Well, it's a secret until 5 o'clock today.' " Now this was at 3:15. He said, "ALL MY CHILDREN will move to LA and ONE LIFE TO LIVE will move into their studio." I almost screamed into the telephone bursting an eardrum on the man. I'm trusting and wishing the best for ALL MY CHILDREN. They've got some great real estate they're moving to in LA. And there's a lot of great opportunities for renting and buying the personal residences. And then our show apparently is going to get at least 30-50 percent more studio space so that our big concept productions and efficiency can be ramped up. Frank has found better and better ways to make a great show but does it cost effectively because if we don't do it that way we'll be joining GUIDING LIGHT. I'm so proud to be part of that solution.

Great!
Cuz I was really getting tired of all this "Is she leaving or not?" crap.
It's like crap or get off the pot.

I've been trying to avoid all the contract drama lately but it's nice to have some good news. So happy Dorian is staying where she belongs in Llanview.

As happy as I am that Robin is staying with OLTL, I really was extremely offended at the not so subtle jab she did towards the cast and crew and mostly the fans of GL. I think she chose her words poorly and needs to apologize not only to the cast and crew but mostly the fans as well. It's bad enough that we already know that our favorite show won't be continuing on past September 18, it's even worse when she adds insult to injury.

How is that a jab at GL? If that's her exact quote above all she basically said was she doesn't want OLTL canceled like GL.

Good for her and it's good for the show. She has to do what she has to do.
I did not take it as a slam of GL. Her show is in danger of being canceled and gone forever, that is what she meant.

Strasser wasn't attacking GL. She was referring to its cancellation. Sheesh! I understand a lot of us are grieving GL's loss but Strasser has no reason to attack GL's cast, crew, or fans. A death of any soap, is one less place where she might find future employment. Right?

I'm a GL fan and she didn't criticize or attack GL in anyway. All she said was that she doesn't want OLTL to be cancelled like GL. That is in no way attacking GL.
I have to admit when I read the headline I thought there was gonna be some negative remarks about GL but there weren't.
ABC may have their faults but they are doing a hell of a lot more than CBS is doing to save the genre.

Maybe their capitilizing on cbs cancelling gl and possibly atwt by keeping their lineup in a way that saves some money think about it they are talking about saving the genre and a lot of angry or sad fans might turn to them plus gl won't be on cbs daytime it might give abc a chance to take number 1 in the ratings
