More All My Children Relocation Scoop: "Everyone on Contract Will Be Moved, Unless They Don't Want To Go"

More news is trickling out of New York, following yesterday's announcement that All My Children will in fact be moving to Los Angeles. According to setside sources, all contract players will be offered the chance to relocate.
"Brian Frons told the cast everyone who is on contract will be moved, unless they don't want to go," says one mole. "If the contract actors don't want to move to LA, they will be let out of their contracts. Several behind the scenes people will be offered severance packages."
AMC's current contract cast includes: Brittany Allen (Marissa), David Canary (Adam), Bobbie Eakes (Krystal), Melissa Claire Egan (Annie), Beth Ehlers (Taylor), Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake), Vincent Irizarry (David), Shannon Kaye (Natalia), Thorsten Kaye (Zach), Michael E. Knight (Tad), Susan Lucci (Erica), Jamie Luner (Liza), Ray Mac Donnell (Joe), J.R. Martinez (Brot), Cameron Mathison (Ryan), Adam Mayfield (Scott), Alicia Minshew (Kendall), James Mitchell (Palmer, who recently relocated to California for health reasons and is not expected to return to the show), Brianna Moncrief (Colby), Debbi Morgan (Angie), Cornelius Smith Jr. (Frankie), Chrishell Stause (Amanda), Aiden Turner (Aidan), Denise Vasi (Randi), Walt Willey (Jack), Darnell Williams (Jesse) and Jacob Young (JR).
With such AMC veterans as Jill Larson, Lee Meriwether and Jennifer Bassey on recurring, fans could soon see the last of beloved matriarchs like Opal Cortlandt, Ruth Martin and Marion Chandler, not to mention cutie Lucy Merriam who plays Emma Lavery.

This what I see happening. AmC will not fight certain actors who want out of their deals instead of moving
BUT if Cameron, Alicia, Thorsten or Melissa dont wanna mov, I bet AMC will try hard to presaude them too.

Jamey,
You're welcome. You obviously have done a great job in the world of soaps.

Like I said yesterday it is going to be interesting to see who will make the move and who will not. If certain actors don't want to go, I wonder does ABC have a preference. We will see what happens in the coming weeks.

Jamey, do you have any inside news about what's going on with James Mitchell? If I recall, when he appeared last, almost a year ago, he was seated the entire time. What do people say about his condition? I hope he's not doing as poorly as Mary Fickett. I've always hoped that they could let James retire in style by celebrating his 30th anniversary on AMC... perhaps they could even have Palmer get ill and have his beloved Nina and Daisy share scenes at his bedside one last time ... with tons of great flashbacks (and not those insipid quick 5-second flashbacks... let's see what made Palmer such a great character). Would he be up to doing something like this? (Hopefully Agnes could write this, since I have no faith that Chuck Pratt could do justice to Palmer's exit)

Darnell Williams and Debbie Morgan will probably move to L.A.
Let's be honest. Hollywood has failed to offer these two actors the opportunities they have earned. In terms of their careers, there aren't any similar offers of employment available to them.
Several years ago, Morgan earned rave reviews for her appearance in "Eve's Bayou." What happened? Nothing other than a recurring role on Charmed. Morgan didn't get any other great opportunities.
The sad fact is that the entertainment industry is still pretty racist, ageist, sexist, and homophobic.

So what happens if say Jill Larson is willing to travel to LA to film her scenes when needed, or even move out that way, does she still not get to play Opal?

I appreciate the financial logistics for this decision but I really think is the beginning of the end for this show.

Actually if they get new writers and producers this will be a win for AMC
This Move will already benefit OLTL the way it is now just by having more studio space and HD.
This has the makings of a real win-win situation for all daytime drama.

josstheguy, Debbie Morgan should’ve won an Oscar for her performance in EVE’S BAYOU. It was phenomenal and in my opinion, one of the best, if not the best, supporting performance that year. I also give her major props for her performance in LOVE AND BASKETBALL as Omar Epps’ mom. I was glad to see Debbie back on AMC, because I get to see one of my favorite actresses on a regular basis but she deserves sooo much better than what’s she is getting at AMC.

I cannot see Thorsten Kaye moving .. his wife Susan Haskell is on OLTL, they own a house in CT .. Alicia is pregnant, just married and her husband owns a restaurant in NYC .. I just dont see them moving West ... and Cameron (who I could care less about) has roots and connections to a lot of ABCDisney stuff here on this coast .. this is likely the beginning of the end of AMC and it makes me sad ..

I'm scared for AMC if it loses LaLucci (though i really really really hope she moves with it) or Canary. I'm just hoping that Denise Vasi and Brianna Moncrief (or as i dub her, brianna moncringe) won't be able to make the move lol

I hope they keep Jill Larson. Opal is one of the few vets who still gets decent screentime. Ruth only appears a few times a year anyways so I don't think it would be too hard to keep Ruth on AMC. Lee Meriweather could just fly to LA 2 or 3 times a year. It wouldn't be necessary for her to move.

Debbie has enjoyed a very long and varied career in Hollywood beyond Eve's Bayou and Charmed. She had pivotal recurring roles on my tv shows and has been in many solid feature films including being cast opposite Denzel Washinton in the Hurricane.
L.A. has long been on the Debbie Morgan love train but, she only came back to this role to be closer to her boyfriend now husband and her return has certainly been botched since Pratt came aboard as has Darnell's who is very rooted in NYC theatre both starring and directing plays.
I wondering it either of them will go to suffer more "Pratt falls".
BTW....I am loving that DC and you especially Jamey broke this story wide while denials were still hanging from the lips of tiic.... Way to go !!!

Great Job, Jamey. I was reading SoapCentral days ago and they were trying to downplay this story, saying that it was just a rumor and insinuating that it had no merit. I guess somebody done told them wrong. teeheeheehee

I feel bad for the actors that have to make a life changing decision to whether to move or just quit. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes, but I hope that whatever their decision they make to move or not, I support them and hope them much success in the future.

I feel worse for the crew. The actors on contract at least have job offers. Most of the crew are screwed. They won't get job offers to move west.

Jamey - would you be willing to do a post or a thread where you list the contract players with your best guess as to if they will make the move - ten being definately going to LA , 1 being definately not going to LA. So something like Actor x (4) doesnt need the money, extended family in NY, Actor Y (
wanted to move to LA anyway etc. etc.
I will bet all the cash in my wallet that we are going to get Rebecca Budig back. UGGH. I saw Sabine on one of the procedurals the other night and had a sad sigh.

So this is just a nice way for them to get rid of not only the people off contract, but anyone *on* contract that they know won't want to move? Lovely!
