Tabloid Says Y&R's Phillip is Gay and Will be Paired With Rafe!

This has the makings to be gooood.

A better question is how will Phillip III's Iraqi war vet son Phillip IV (John Driscoll) react to a gay dad.

I don't know about this one! I thought Phillip Chancellor IV was going to be paired with Rafe. Isn't Phillip 3 a little old for Rafe? This story line will either shine or fall flat on its face! Time will tell.

Not surprising about Phillip 3 being gay and looking forward to all the drama surrounding his return. What I'm very less than stellar to read about is a possible pairing between Phillip 3 and Rafe. I'm not a huge fan of romances with huge age differences to begin with (gay or straight). Rafe already looks young with Adam, I can't imagine how he'll look with P3. Why not give them both someone around their own age?

Good lord almost all the soaps are getting into the gay thing! Not that thats a bad thing I just hope its handled well, I am sad that the only lesbian storyline is going to be gone with GL but this is the third gay storyline starting up right? We have OLTL, Y&R, and of course Nuke on ATWT, are the soaps afraid of Hello Kitty?

I don't know if Rafe will be paired with P3 (Bierdz only has a 6 month contract). But if Cane, who's supposed to be 40+, the same age as P3, is paired with Lily, who's only 21 on the show and in real life.

Older men and younger women are a staple of soaps. Surprisingly, no one has ever said anything about the 10 year age difference between Phyllis and Nick. Sharon and Jack have a 15 year difference in age.

Yani Gellman is 23 and Thom Bierdz is 47 years old! That is too much of a damn age difference. Y&R is wrong for writing this mess. I would rather him be paired with Phillip IV or better yet have a triangle between the three. This may be the turning point for Y&R. They need to get their s@#t together. The show is still good for the most part but it better tread carefully. Also, I know this is superficial but somebody needs to give Thom a makeover. That hairstyle is just not getting it. It makes him look even older!

When you put it like that you are right. I guess because it is a same sex couple we tend to look at everything including age. I know it is not right. I still hope he is not paired with Rafe. Please let Rafe be paired with Phillip IV I think that would be a good pairing.

Wow, everyone is turning out to be gay on the soaps. Hmmm, can anyone smell a ratings stunt? Just a little while ago Y&R had no gays on the show and now they might have two.

As to the age thing, who cares. As long as their two consenting adults big deal. I didn't see any complaints when Victor and Niki first hooked up, and he was probably at least 15 to 20 years older than her.

Wow! There is a 23 year age difference between Thom Bierdz and Yani Gellman.

Yeah, I don't think P3 needs a romance right away anyways, given Thom has a six month contract for now, the drama surrounding his reveal should take up much of that.

As for Rafe, I think the show should go the CLASSIC route of having the "villian" (Adam) fall for the person he's using (Rafe), for real and the all the drama surrounding that. THAT I'd much rather see, than P3/Rafe.

Adam and Rafe are soaps' "least gay" story. Director Alfred Hitchcock is famous for use of a plot device, a MacGuffin, that moved the story along. That's Rafe. He's here just to move the story along and show how Adam is willing to do anything to achieve his revenge. Rafe is a very underdeveloped character. We know little about him other than that he's a gay, Latino lawyer with an aunt who worked for Victor Newman. He's pretty 2 dimensional.

Adam, however, is a fully realized character. He's given moments to speak his thoughts. We know his back story. We know he's straight and holds no lust or love for Rafe. He's a con artist.

As for fear of the Kitty, I think the reverse has been historically true. The most popular gay character in soap history has been AMC's Bianca. Had Eden Riegel not wanted to leave, Bianca would still be on the canvas. The role is so closely tied to her, it's difficult to imagine it being recast.

But that would be stupid dkp. Adam showed no signs what so ever he was gay. Just not in his character.

Why do you like Rafe and Adam? It's a completely demeaning relationship for Rafe. Adam's straight. He doesn't lust or love Rafe. He's just using him. The relationship will make Rafe look like a huge fool who's willing to betray his aunt for sex with Adam.

Hmm? Sex with a guy I think may have set my aunt up for felony and the enmity of two of Genoa City's wealthiest families or try to help my aunt?

Hello! Rafe knows Adam is a liar and a cheat because of Adam's conviction for framing Victor. Adam lied to Rafe and claimed innocence there. Now Rafe is going to continue believing Adam?

How is that stupid? It's not like Adam has been on the show for a long time and has this very long sexual history with women. It totally possible. I think you need to google "Kinsey Scale" and learn a little more how fluid sexuality can be.

I prefered Rafe with Adam too, it's a classical soap story, good guy falls for bad guy and redeem him in the end. I hope that in the end tptb will follow that road.

That report says bets are on Phillip III being paired with Rafe. It was presented as a speculation, not fact.

I think it would be an interesting story if Adam did fall for Rafe. Since Adam is a liar and a con artist, the writers can manipulate his backstory without too much fuss. Who's to say he was not using Heather? Who's to say he's not bisexual? Who's to say he's not asexual and only used sex when serves his purpose?

I'm glad Thom Bierdz is back, but he looks way too old to be paired with an actor who would be carded at any bar. Gellman looks younger than the actor playing Noah. It's just silly. It's not as sickening as Annie and Adam on AMC, but it's in the same ballpark.

Frankly, I'm wondering if Adam stole some of Victor's Viagra to get through the deed with Rafe.

Oh I know josstheguy I just find it strange that soaps have had 3 lesbian storylines mostly told at different times I remember Bianca, then a few years later that girl from Passions (don't even remember her name ha ha) and of course Otalia but they all happened at different times. All the sudden soaps are having one gay storyline after the other fairly quickly I hope they don't all turn out to be rating stunts I think that gay/lesbian viewers will run to any storyline that is well written mostly because of under representation in the main stream media and that brings ratings I just hope they don't turn out to be complete ratings stunts.

Adam loves Heather. He stated this repeatedly. Watch Monday's episode and you'll understand Adam.

It's possible that Adam might suddenly find himself bisexual and wanting Rafe. Anythings possible.

As for Bierdz and Gellman being paired, I doubt it. But if they were, how's it any different than Cane and Lily being paired? Cane is twice Lily's age. He's supposed to be the same age as Lily's father, Neil Winters!

Besides, Adam isn't cheating on Heather because he wants to have sex with Rafe. He's going to screw Rafe to protect himself. It's for his survival and his goal to get revenge on Victor and Jack.

Come on! It's Y&R. Married folks cheat all of the time. Nick and Phyllis. Phyllis and Jack. Nick and Sharon. Sharon and Billy.

The fact that they cheat belies the notion that they are in love.

Most of those couples are not together. Look at Lauren and Michael. THAT is love.

josstheguy, you assume I have no problems with Cane and Lily. I've never liked them together. I'd like to see him paired with Phyllis or someone like that. Since Khalil plays Lily like a Valley girl, the age difference between Lily and Cane is even more pronounced.

And do you think Heather would give a damn about Adam's motivation for cheating on her? Cheating is cheating. It is not more virtuous to step outside your relationship and screw someone of the same sex just to keep them quiet versus just being turned on.
