So you mean to tell me that for the last 4 months, she's been walking around pregnant no symptoms, no missed periods or the like? Hells bells, if they were going to go this route, it would've made better sense to do this a month after her and Frank sleeping together. Hell, this would've been an allright idea if the show were still going to be on the air for at least another year or two. But with only a few precious months left, how on earth are they going to wrap this up so Otalia (and the Otalia fans) can have a happy ending? Plus I feel horribly sorry for poor Jessica Leccia; nothing like walking around pregnant for 9 months just to have the baby then be told by producers that your character is preggers. I'm calling bullshit on this. It's bad enough that Oliva and Natalia haven't even shared a kiss yet and declared themselves a full bonafide couple, now we to deal with theFrankenspawn??? Whatev, GL....whatev!

This is just stupid, if they wanted to make JL pregnant why didn't they do it sooner I mean the actress has been visibly showing pregnancy for months. I hate to say this but it looks like if she is pregnant with Frank's baby that Otalia might not be endgame after all ugh is Barbara Bloom writing this storyline?

Nothing like giving the middle finger to one of the most passionate fan bases in recent memory.

I'd have faith in the writers if they actually had some say in how things work out. It's not their vision that prevails.

NO! NO NO NO NO NO.
No, this is NOT TRUE!This will not be true and I DO NOT ACCEPT it as true.
Natalia will not be pregnant.
Having Natalia be pregnant is WORSE that The L Word killing off Dana Fairbanks.
NO NO NO!

I didn't think it was possible for JLH to make such a critical mistake at this late date in the storyline. This is an insult to us as fans, and a tired storyline that has been done to often. I'm so disappointed!! I don't care if they raise the baby together and get over this - to many they will not recover from this intrusion of Frank and his child, in the womb when Otalia make love. DISGUSTING!! I'm offended.

If GL does this, they will have a riot on their hands and will lose their Otalia fans in a split second. All the boards are in flames about this right now. We've given the show all the support, written to all the magazines so they get covered, made this thing into an international phenomenon, and this is the THANK YOU we get??!!! Nat pregnant with the man Otalia fans hate the most in the unverse, instead of having a happy ending. They haven't even shared a kiss, let alone made love, and instead we get a devil cooper spawn. I will throw up if this is true and never watch the show again..ever. More importantly, the writers will become the most hated writers in soap history, after they've been the most loved and revered. THIS CANNOT BE!!!!! I'm SICKENED and feel CHEATED like never before in my life!!

This is really disappointing. However, the writers finessed the runaway bride cliche, perhaps they can take this worn-out storyline and do something new with it. With September and the show's ending on the horizon, though, I wish we didn't have to go this route. There was so much potential to break more new ground. I was hoping Otalia would spend at least some time as a full-fledged couple (images of lesbian bliss are far too rare) then end with a wedding. Now they have to waste so much precious time with Frank. Sigh. Ellen Wheeler & Jill Lorie Hurst: I hope you are reading these messages and the massive discussion going on at the Big Purple Dreams fan-board. We still have faith in you!

Wow this rumor doesnt make sense. If it was gonna happen you would think they would have done it sooner, at least a month after the Frank "session". Maybe it has been a month or so in soapland. Who knows. I guess as cliched as it would have been anyway, if the show was gonna go on, it would have made more sense. Unless (I hate to say this) there's a miscarriage but then Natalia would be depressed over that so how would they be in the end when the shows over?

I can't say how strongly I DO NOT want this to happen!

Otalia fans, in general, but lesbian Otalia fans, in particular, have gone nuts over this rumor. We have had so many horrible storylines thrown at us that have no resemblance to our own experiences and here we got a beautiful and romantic story of true love (even if it's completely unrealistic that these two beautiful women haven't even kissed yet!!!) and they want to throw out one of the worst and most tiresome lesbian cliches out there.

If they had 2-3 years to play this out, it could have been a very powerful storyline; however, we want to see these two in love, kissing, making love and just being happy. We've NEVER had that in a storyline before and we just want it so bad. We don't have hundreds of storylines to pick from. This one was ours, and it would be a shame to throw it away this late in the game.

This would be disappointing. They organically had the storyline of two women raising a child...Emma! A Frank baby! Natalia won't be the only one throwing up.

If they write it full term, everytime I see Natalia I will be thinking,"Poor Jessica. They should have written it in earlier or not at all." She has been wearing and carrying big coats and carrying bags and stuff for months and months and months.

When we get to the scene where the doctor tells her, I'm going to say, "Yeah you are. Look down."
I guess we will have to wait and see how this situation turns out.

Also, I guess Frank is right in the middle of the storyline right up until the end.
You just can't escape him.

I can't get my head around this rumor. It makes no sense at all at this point in time. I'm hoping this is a red herring.
If true, I would be so disappointed in this development for all the reasons the many posts above mentioned. Now GL has thousands of people hoping for a miscarriage. Even if that happens, how can people feel good about the story? Just leaves a bad note. Don't they want to go out on an uplifting note?

I just don't understand.

Again, if the show had more time, I guess I wouldn't mind the sl because it would've made for some damn fine soapy drama. But this show is ending September 18th....there's not enough time realistically to play the proper beats out. Especially considering the ladies haven't even shared their first kiss. The damn show is canceled and is pretty much not going to get picked up anywhere. What do they have to lose? I say let Olivia and Natalia lock lips and sweat up them sheets and simply enjoy being a full fledged couple and raising little jellybean. Trust, there will be plenty of drama from the Springfield denizens going batshit over Olivia (of all people) in a lesbian relationship, without knocking up Natalia.

Is it at all possible that TPTB were unaware at how poorly (to put it mildly) this idea would be received by the fans? Or is this just a deliberate middle-finger they're serving up? Because I just cannot fathom who would EVER think this was a good idea no matter how it's "finessed."

Bizzie fans don't relax yet...you may think you're safe but after this balderdash (God how I want to cuss right now!) nothing is over 'til it's over. I'm crossing my fingers for ya because wow does it stink to get screwed over at the last possible moment like this!

Well, we're obviously nervous about this. But we're really holding out hope that this ends up ok, that the spoiler is a red herring and a pregnancy scare propels our girls closer somehow. A false positive would be fine. But if, with three months to go, we have to deal with a Fratlia (eww) baby- we won't be pleased. We're going with our fun and positivity attitude and hoping that Nat just found a really old test under the sink and it lied to her.
Besides, all the drinking Nat's been doing the last few weeks, this baby is liable to be born with 4 heads. No one wants to see that...

IF this "rumor" is in fact true and Natalia is pregnant with Frank's baby and it is not a scare (if it is a miscarriage or something along those lines, gee, that's a really nice storyline to give a pregnant actress especially when the character's back story is essentially a clean slate and they could come up with ANYTHING to get her off canvas for a few weeks, but I digress) I really will be disappointed regardless of how "well" the story is written and if Olivia and Natalia end up "happy" on Sept. 18. Of course I want Olivia and Natalia to end up together and happy, but it is just as important to me how they get there. This couple has folded laundry together for crying out loud, you can't tell me the fans need more drama and angst to stay interested for these last 5 weeks. Why can't these two simply get to know one another more, go on dates, kiss and all of that like other couples for the 5 weeks they will be on air together after the mat leave. But, if you need more angst, there has got to, GOT TO be something else from either Olivia's or Natalia's past that could create the drama besides the one thing that would tie them to Frank and the currently insufferable Cooper clan (save Daisy and baby Henry) FOREVER.

And, I am not sure Frank fans would want this either. For me, my vision of a happy ending involves Olivia and Natalia together and in love, completely separate from Frank. A baby would tie all of them together forever. Frank would always be intimately connected to Otalia and that image would not make the ending happy for me.

And, good lord Bizzie fans, who the hell do you have to sleep with at GL to ensure a happy ending. Wouldn't a little Bizzie baby be nice? Don't even get me started on what they apparently have planned for Phillip.

I have to vent, sorry in advance if offend anyone.

You just cannot have it both ways, for months and months I have read blog and post after post praising this storyline and JLH's writing. I myself have been truly touched by the honest and pure way in which it has been presented to the audience, it's a love-story and a simple one. This storyline is not about being gay, it's not about women, it's about being a human, about being a loving and living person. I myself am a married (12yrs) straight woman in her 30's and I find myself understanding this storyline and the characters.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO

If we have praised this writer and this storyline why is it so easy for us to suddenly doubt what they are going to do to wrap things up. The show is ending and they are doing what they need to with a pregnancy leave in the mists of it. How can you not have faith in JLH's writing and this storyline, it has been the best written same sex soap storyline ever. No scandal, not over the top coming out storyline, no gay hate, no bashing the church, no bashing anyone.
Support these people and give them the trust they deserve.

How about if this storyline is about defining families, all types of families and the journey they take to become one. If we can accept that Olivia & Natalia fell in love and formed a bond when neither had been inlove with another woman before, both had been married to men and have children from those relationships. Then why is it impossible to look at what they are about to do as creating a new sort of family, one that only knows one thing, LOVE..
Two mommies and a dad. Frank is a big enough man to still support and help Natalia's son, he seems to be coming around when it comes to Olivia (I liked the card scene), this will be a journey for Frank as it is for Olivia & Natalia and Rafe & Emma.

This is a perfect way to show the world just how many families there are with two mom's who happen to be in love and a dad who understands and accepts and is still part of his child's life.

Again.. sorry to offend...
But these writers and actors deserve our support and our trust, they have done nothing but provide us with a wonderful storyline to this point and I see no reason to doubt them now.

In my Otalia Happy Place I have big dreams and they are all Purple!

I have enough confidence in Ellen Wheeler, Jill Lorie Hurst, Crystal Chappell and Jessica Leccia to know they are not going to let us down. This storyline has been going on for over a year and they have never let us down. They have presented us with a very special gift in Otalia and I have cherished every moment and will continue to do so. No matter what happens!

oh!, I respect the actors they have nothing to do with the twist the sl might do. But this is for me smth more than a simple plot divice to make the story interesting and it's not only because I'm a lesbian and want a story that represents me on tv...this is ridiculous from everywhere I see it.

1)you have two persons that love each other and happen to be two women, that is great but why add an unplanned pregnancy when they already have 3 kids?...they can raise litle Emma, in fact they are doing just that. There is NO POINT!, I just not understand.

2)the time, if this show wasn't canceled the sl could be interesting and would develop organically without affecting and waisting time they don't have.

3)why do this now? after the actress had her baby...are you trying to tell me that after spending 4 months ignoring the huge baby bump now I have to pretend that the new fake baby bump is real?...so why all the efforts from the crew and director to hide it in the first place?

4) this is character assassination. Nat's been drinking a lot lately if she is in fact pregnant that must affect the baby, man free guilty trip for Nat. And again I have to believe that a woman that was pregnant at 16 wouldn't use a condom? srsl? and after 4-5 months she didn't notice she is pregnant...give me a break Nat AIN'T STUPID!

so do ya see...why this is so wrong?...it's not only the Frank part (and that's bad enough) is an insult to the fans plain and simple, well IF the rumor is true.

I love Otalia no matter what though so I'm gonna watch but this will be a disappointment.

Smile

Had GL had more time, this would've been a good soapy story but we only have 3 months. This just screams of David Kreizman's rushed and plotty storytelling because after all he still is co-headwriter.

This is not even gonna look good for Natalia's character because she may be a little bit naive but she is NOT stupid. I think she had REALLY BAD sex with Frank after Coop died and Phillip returned which was February and you mean to tell me she went 4-5 months without having a period?(Now doesn't that sound like David Kreizman's work?)

Poor Jessica Leccia...she's gonna have to play pregnant right AFTER she was ALREADY really pregnant.(This one screams of Ellen Wheeler and I ACTUALLY kinda like her).

It is so stupid to have Natalia pregnant now, and its an insult to Otalia. Hell, they haven't even had sex yet, we never see them kiss either.
Its rumored that there are deaths coming on the show as well, you would think that they would want happier stories before the end. But its Ellen Wheeler running the show. She can't come up with better plot twists than deaths and suprise (four months later) pregnancies.

Part of me thinks that they're doing this because they're pissed that they couldn't get picked up or get an Otalia spinoff online. It has to be that, I can't bear to think that the writers have such little respect for the fans and the storyline *they* created.
If Olivia was the one to get pregnant I could see it, with Olivia pregnant, the two women would be able to come out and say they love eachother and than raise the baby on their own with no interfearance.

Yeah, it's not even a question so much of the tired and over-used desexualizing pregnancy plot...I think I could eventually get over that (not really) if it does not in effect desexualize them, but the main problem is that it's FRANK'S!! That is the main thing that makes me want to puke my heart out and scream at the writers. Since they perfectly know the vast and overwhelming majority of Otalia fans bleeping HATE HIM, it is insulting they would do this to Otalia and the fans...I will say it again: INSULTING!!!

With so little time left, all they had to do was wrap it up with a great romantic ending, instead we get vital time wasted with the disgusting spawn of a Cooper (GAG). yeah, in case you were wondering, most Otalia fans cannot stand the annoying, dull Coopers!! Ugh, I still can't get over this. Someone needs to fix this trainwreck from happening. It will forever taint the memory and legacy of Otalia! Sad

Natalia has been drinking lately...vodka and beer. She is pregnant (unaware of course) and drinking. This is going somewhere.

The best we can hope for is that Olivia and Natalia choose to stay together despite everything they have faced, even the pregnancy. I dunno, I'm just shocked that it was written in this late after trying to hide the baby bump all this time. It IS possible to be unaware tht you are pregnant even in the fourth month, 2nd trimester.

The writers knew what they were going to do with with Natalia during JL's maternity leave months ago and maybe this is the original plan or plan B. Whatever the case, it is written and it is done. I choose to just watch where it goes and I hope it turns out better than the cliche it appears to be at face value.

I choose NOT to believe the rumours about pregnancy and Natalia. The writers have done such a wonderful job up to now. I can't believe they would let the fans down now with a ridiculous new story line.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that logic will prevaill

I don't see Otalia as ever being a happy couple. Too much angst for Natalia struggling with her faith, and disappointing her son.

Natalia does care for Frank a lot. These two having a baby I think would make Natalia happy. Olivia needs to stop pressuring her.

Maybe Olivia and Doris could hook up, they seem to be the more lesbian of the three.

I trust the writers and hope this will turn out to be a plot device to get Natalia out of town for the four weeks of Jessica's leave. Otalia is a family already - let's use the 6 weeks left after Jessica returns to make this couple as fully developed as couples like Bizzie... what can CBS do if they go there - cancel them?

that is the problem...they could use A LOT of different plot divices to get Nat out of town instead of making Nat pregnant!

I can't think of anything to say that hasn't already been said but I just have to chime in because this is the worst thing JLH and EW and GL could have done to all of us, fans actors everyone! If the intention was from the beginning to sabotage the story then I wish they had never started it. I could have been living my life differently instead of sitting in front of the TV 5 days a week watching a brilliantly written story only to see it end so badly soap opera or not! How rude.

It's criminal to tease fans for months when they knew they were going to be totally and completely gone as a show to have spent so much time writing this beautiful love story only to throw it in the trash bin at the end. The thing that bothers me the most is that there is nothing anyone can do, the whole show will be gone in Sept. and no amount of criticism will have the least bit of affect on the situation because they're outta there so they don't care.

I can only hope with these last few weeks they can do some little thing to salvage what they've ruined at least some little bit. But if they don't then I and I'm sure many others will be so disappointed that CBS daytime TV can go take a hike no matter what they replace GL with.

chris345 You make a lot of sense and I hope you're right. I was of course knee jerk reacting to what I'm seeing on the surface and what I thought of as sabotage and the way that made me feel. But after reading your comment I see that I hadn't even considered the extended family in a positive light. Thanks for bringing this point to light. If it's true that Frank *can* be in that role without judgment then I'm all for it.

My main objection is that if it is thought to bring this scenario around they will have to tell it not show it because there is so little time left.

There's Rafe to consider how is he supposd to get over his problem with his mother and her religion thing so quickly.

Like a book one doesn't get to dictate story but one would like to like what they're spending precious time on. One would like their writers to play fair in this case at the end of the longest run in history of any entertainment event. Maybe with the exception of the William Shakespeare events. But even those are only once a year not every single weekday such as this was for 72 years.

But it's moot, they're nearly wrapped, some have already finished competely. I'm now prepared to be disappointed so if they do something good for Otalia by the end then I'll be okay and let's face it that's what's most important to me.
