Wishful Casting: Jessica Leccia as Rafe's Sister Arianna on DAYS
In Michael Fairman's new interview with Crystal Chappell for Advocate.com he mentions how awesome it would be for Days of Our Lives ot snap up the other half of the insanely popular Otalia, Jessica Leccia.
You told Jessica you were going to go back to Days. How did that go?
I did tell Jessica, and she texted me back and said, Yay! Employment. You know, that is what we all wish for each other. It was funny. I had this wonderful news breaking last Friday. I am so lucky as an actor to have a job these days, but I really thought it hit me hard. I am the first one to announce: Hey, I’m going over here, and you could kind of see that people were so happy for me, but there was a weight that fell on the group. I kind of felt it all weekend. I am vacillating between extreme relief and joy and excitement about going back and trying something old and making it new again. At the same time I was feeling devastated. So, it was this weird emotional breakup at some level.Perhaps Days could capitalize on the popularity of Otalia and have Jessica come over to join you.
Why not?
I don't know about you guys, but I certainly wouldn't be crushed if they recast Rafe's (Galen Gering) sister Arianna with Jessica! Then Arianna and the soon-to-be-returning Carly could be BFF's. But hands off Ari, I want my Carly/Bo/Hope love triangle smackdown before Katerina even thinks about any Hello Kitty! If the show is stuck on the actress it has, why not resurrect the character of April Ramirez, Mike Horton's former flame, and while we're at it, why not cast Grant Aleksander as Mike? Hey a boy can wish(ful) cast!

Jamey, thats what I was thinking as Wishful Casting, Jessica as Galen Gering's Rafe sister Arianna would be great and to have CC and JL onscreen again. Great wishful casting choice.

They're not going to be a lesbian couple. Well, who knows? Its been years since we last saw Carly.
The more that I think about it... what if Carly is no longer married and is gay? Bo would be like WTH.
I honestly don't understand why we would need to see Rafe's family. His family wouldn't bring any thing new to DOOL. They already have the cop family.
They could be the Hispanic family, but like GL's Remy and family, you have to be something more or that becomes nothing after a while.
They have to make them something more to keep an entirely new family in the spotlight. Look at the Lockharts.

if DOOL brought JL to the show that would be FABULOUS! even if CC and JL's characters were only friends that would be enough for me! their chemistry as a couple or just friends is amazing.

I could definitely go for that!! Jessica Leccia is one of the fastest rising stars on daytime IMO. Her chemistry with CC, even if its just friendship, is off the charts.

Wishful thinking? Maybe. But with Crystal Chappell back as Dr. Carly, Days just got its 'shot in the arm' that it was needing. Just imagine what adding Jessica Leccia to the mix would do to further extend Days...life.

I know Days would get flack for it, but I would happily take Lindsay Hartley as Arianna. She worked as Galen Gering's sister & Eric Martsolf's love interest before. Jessica as April would be hot bootz!

Truthfully, I'm not sure what opportunities will be there for Jessica Leccia or most of the GL actors. The remaining soaps are in serious trouble and have their own casts.
Leccia has the difficulty of being perceived as a Latina actress. Most soaps do a terrible job of creating roles for actors of color. Unlike Chappel, who has a history on another soap, Leccia derives all of her buzz from GL and its Otalia storyline. I'm not sure how much good that will do her.
Lindsay Hartley was the star of Passions but no other soap will touch her. Why? She's a great actress. Although non-Latina in real life, did her playing one for so long associate her so closely that casting directors can't see her otherwise?
Surely Days could have cast Hartley as Arianna.
Of course, other top passions actors are MIA. Ben Masters, Tracy Ross, Kim Johnston are nowhere to be seen. No one has bothered to offer them anything.
I'm such sad about GL's cancellation and the reality that most of the GL actors will, like the folks from Passions, disappear entirely from our screens.

This would be a big mistake.
Olivia is Olivia and Carly is Carly, they are two different shows with two different ways to telling storylines and indentities.
GL is going, Otalia is going and it's just one of the many storylines that were part of GL during it's 72yr history. Same as Carly on Days, she has a part in that shows history as well and I would hate for them to mess with the character just to reach out to a certain fanbase. The shows need to stick to what they do and what they are. Days would just ending messing with Otalia and their fans.

They don't have to make them a couple, just good friends. There's not many great friendships on soaps these days. JL would be a good addition to the cast.

That's not the sort of soap Days is. Carly is a totally different sort of character, she is a princess and she is nothing like Olivia. JL would just get lost on Days. Days is way more fictional and make believe than GL. They have buried people alive, possesed them by the devil an so on.

I agree w/both chris & The Best! I would hate to see those two ladies being thrown in the stupid soap thing as lets see if they would work on this soap as different characters. And from seeing the character of Arianna on right now and CC clips as Carly they are two different characters. I mean if they do cast her a Rafe sister I would rather see them as friends than romantic pairings and I wouldn't mind if Lindsay Hartley was cast as Arianna either.

In retrospect, isn't it sad that the only way we can conceive of Jessica Leccia joining Days is by dumping one of two actress of color on the show to make room for Leccia (especially since the current actress is doing a good job. We aren't talking about a Charity What's-her-name.)?
Couldn't Leccia be another of Rafe's relatives? Or just another person in general?

If she keeps Carly out of Bo & Hope's marriage, I have no problem with this possibly! Bo & Hope don't need another interloper storyline! Let's see if Crystal and Wally have any chemistry together!

KathyRon - i was too young to watch Days when Carly and Bo were a couple, so i have grown up watching and adoring bo and hope. but i must admit, after i heard the news CC would be returning i decided to watch clips of carly and bo on youtube and i think i am now a bo and carly fan.. their chemistry was off the charts (before Peter Reckell left). so whatever storyline they decide to write CC i am all for it because just watching her is enough for me.

Jessica would be a great asset to any show but is CC is the same show the rating will go UP UP UP.. They are excellents acting partners and their chemestry is off the charts..I hope the producers are listening to the public. Is easy..we want CC and JL workeing together..

Oh brother! Guiding light more real? They had their share of unreal storyline. They cloned Reva! Walked through paintings, weren't Reva and Josh Amish? San Cristobal storyline- Richard was a prince, wasn't Reva the princess of San Cristobal? I think Olivia was a princess too.
The two stories you mentioned took place years ago. Days is in a different place now.
Oh, and Jessica as Rafe's sister-brilliant! Watch out-Jamey doing a wishful casting it might come true!

AMEN a thousand times over!!! Liv is Liv, Carly is Carly and that's how it's supposed to be. Otalia is barely a blip on the radar screen in terms of GL's 72 years on the air and while they have a very devoted fanbase, they've also been on the show through it's descent to it's worst ratings ever. I don't blame them for the ratings crashes at all, but they obviously weren't great enough or popular enough to counteract the rest of the show sucking so badly.
DOOL is a whole different animal and they already have a very full canvas. Bringing in Leccia, who was never even remotely popular with GL viewers until the Otalia craze started, just to put her with CC would be a huge debacle. Days fans don't know Otalia or care. Those who remember her care about Carly Manning, not about CC's other show/character/pairings that she was in while she was off Days.
Didn't what happened with RPG and BE at AMC sink in? AMC tried to recreate the "magic" of another show's overrated, overhyped "supercouple" and it blew up in their face. AMC fans couldn't have cared less if they tried. Ditto when GH tried it with Nancy Lee Grahn & Lane Davies and Mary Beth Evans & Stephen Nichols. Heck MBE and SN couldn't even recreate the magic when they returned to DOOL together. To suggest that DOOL bend over backwards to recreate a pairing from another show, a coupling in which the parties haven't even kissed yet, is insane especially since CC has chemistry with everybody. It's not like Leccia is the only person she's ever had chem with before.

The chemistry between Jessica and Crystal is just out of this world, it would be crazy not to at least think about bringing her to the show and capitalize on the natural chemistry between the two of them. If not in a romantic way, but at least as friends/enemies, whatever.

So glad that CC found work, but feel bad for the rest of the GL cast, but hopefully they'll all find something either in daytime or in other areas soon!
I'd love to see Jessica follow Crystal to Days, even as a good friend. They have such great chemistry that its sad Otalia didn't have a longer self life, but at least we got them as long as we did.

As much as I like Otalia, I hate when soaps hire two actors in hopes in recreating the magic from another soap. Too often this has been such a huge disaster, the biggest case being (that I can remember) when GH tried to hook up Katherine and Stefan to recreate Steve and Kayla. It blew up in their face. Stefan and Kat were very different characters from Steve and Kayla so the match made no sense. I actually started watching DOOL right around the time Carly Manning showed up in Salem, so I missed Bo and Hope the first time around. While I love them together now, I remember tons of chemistry between PR and CC, so I'm more excited to see if a triangle plays out between Hope, Bo and Carly (Lord knows, Bo and Hope need a big storyline right now, they've had nothing to do for months!) As for WK returning as Justin, I think it would be kinda hot to see Justin and Victor duke it out over Kate. But I have no clue what their plans are for WK, so I guess we'll wait and see. I'm just thrilled Days decided to snatch up WK since GH has treated him so horribly for years now
