60 Minutes To Air Guiding Light Special
By Jillian Bowe on June 10, 2009

Get ready to break out your hankies folks. Television news magazine 60 Minutes will air a special tribute to Guiding Light. There is no word yet on when the show will air. Sources are saying the show will be a great one for fans. The backdrop of the segment will reportedly be the Bauer BBQ. So does this mean Andy Rooney will re-enact Reva (Kim Zimmer) baptizing herself the slut of Springfield? Keep checking DC for the air date. Thanks to Rocki345 for the tip!

Oh, thank you, CBS!!!! The GL fans want to thank you so much for the rock you have thrown us in the light of the recent events! Your disrespect to us and our show is so sweet. Keep up the good work!

I'm happy that they are giving GL a tribute on 60 min, but still can't help but be mad with CBS' phoniness and them pretending to care about losing this soap when really they haven't given the GL cast/crew the respect they deserved in the past years.

I'm happy they are doing this, and looking forward to watching it, I will bend my no CBS besides GL rule for this..as this is GL related.
But it's too late CBS, NOW you want to show GL some respect - you already put the screws to them! You won't be forgiven for the "way" you do business, no matter how many "nice and thoughtful" things you do.
Looking forward to finding out the actual airdate.

That would be ok if KZ was taping the day of the BBQ, but she wasn't and neither was Robert N or Gina T or several other cast members.

Thank you for the update, DC! Let us know when that GL special is going to air, please!
Crystal Chappell spent the day tweeting from the BBQ that day with fellow cast members (Tina Sloan, Beth Chamberlin, Grant Alexander) posting from her twitter. It was soooo much fun!

Great that CBS is given GL some tribute. Let's keep up the fight for the Light to go cable. It will happen.

Jamey, Melodie...any new info on what's going on with negotiations? I'm seeing posts on other boards whose sources are saying it's all over, the negotiations have fallen apart over international airings.

I have talk to Telenext Media, talked to a live person, they said that their is no truth in that. These things take time; the actors are renegotiating their contracts; They have signed a new lease on the building they use looking for new ones; and made up a years worth of scripts. You can read it on this site.

I will watch it on our Global canwest network but I will definitely watch it.I hope it gets high ratings just to prove a point this show is worth keeping. The only stuff I have seen with good news about the show is that the Mayor of Peapack N.J. still continues to say P&G telenext still has not called to cancel any filming contracts with the Peapack and that Jill Lorie Hurst has been asked to write a complete breakdown of a year's worth of stories. Sometimes no immediate news is a good thing contract talks can be pretty tough and I hope they get this one right. I suggested to P&G that W(Women's Television Network) in Canada be approached it is a stable network with a solid following that is carried on basic cable across the country. GL could even be carried on TVLand in Canada too it already airs reruns of Dallas.Keeping fingers crossed for this gem!!!
