Kathie Lee Gifford on Jon and Kate Gosselin: "I Would Turn Off The Cameras"
By Luke Kerr on June 03, 2009

Today Show host Kathie Lee Gifford is weighing in on Jon and Kate Gosselin's marital troubles. Gifford told US Magazine.com "I would turn off the cameras if I were them and just work on healing together as a family." and "Who knows the long-term damage something like this could do? I understand they are making a living, but you have to wonder at what price."

"Jon & Kate" gets at least 5 million viewers and probably cost very little to produce. Most soaps get about 2.5 million viewers. The production cost for "Jon & Kate" is probably 20% of a soap, I'd guess.
This is why networks turn to reality TV programming. Why hire actors and writers when real life shows can be just as dramatic?
P.S.
I can't stand reality TV. Most of if it is cynical and manipulative (like "The Bachelor").

I loved Jon and Kate Plus 8, but I just haven't been able to watch this season of the show. I don't want to ruin my fond memories of the family. If I watch it all becomes real. lol

Oh Luke I know what you mean. The show has just become to over the top for me. I want to remember the kids how they were cute and fun and loveable. I don't to know Jon and Kate are fighting and Aunt Jodi is an attention seeker. It's "too much" reality at this point. They should have ended the season last year. This season seems too forced and unnatural. AND WOW KATE'S MAKEUPOVER WAS EXTREME from last season to this.

Maybe I should start watching. I just want to see the drama of whether Jon will ever grow a pair.

If Jon and Kate shut the camera's off then how would they be able to support their kids?
Oh and Jon will never grow a pair Kate has his balls in her purse for safe keeping.

Grrrr. I'm so sensative to this show/topic/debate and I know I'm gonna hear it....I've watched every J&K epi prior to all the mud slinging and US Weekly obsessing... An Access Hollywood Corrospondent said it best last night on Headline News - 'they stop the show, the Paparazzi will be that much worse since there IS no more weekly show'.
I truly don't know what is more sickening. Jon's actions bringing this VERM into his family on a non stop basis (prior to Jon's 'behavior', none of this was going on;) US Weekly continually bashing Kate while the (cough) "Woman" that was sunbathing on Kate's lawn with her HUSBAND gets off scott free, or the Mainstream Media sinking to the lowest of low.
I understand Kate is "mean" - Again, I've watched every episode. And it's sad how she married a cheating, spineless coward.
And I know it's her job to speak of 'hot topics', but KL - -Please shut up. I remember you schlepping poor Cody on the LIVE stage a few times a year. Pot. Kettle.
