Thom Bierdz Back on The Young and the Restless!

Canadian Daytime Confidential viewers have been abuzz about something other than the Enema nominations today. At the end of today's episode of The Young and the Restless—which airs a day earlier than the U.S. airshow— Cane (Daniel Goddard) flashed back to his conversation with his Uncle Langley, who turned out to be played by none other than Thom Bierdz (ex-Phillip Chancellor III).

At the end of today's episode of The Young and the Restless—which airs a day earlier than the U.S. airshow— Cane (Daniel Goddard) flashed back to his conversation with his Uncle Langley, who turned out to be played by none other than Thom Bierdz (ex-Phillip Chancellor III).
Earlier this week Soap Opera Digest and New York Daily News columnist Carolyn Hinsey revealed that Y&R executive producer Maria Arena Bell told her there would be a "big return". Could Auntie Maria be undoing yet another of Lynn Marie Latham's storyline stinkers? Is "Uncle Langley" really Phillip Chancellor III back from the dead? Or could he be some long-lost twin? Whoever he is playing, it looks like Bierdz is sticking around for awhile. According to TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco, the talented actor/artist/author has signed a one-year contract, and is set to be part of a big mystery story involving the recently-returned Nina Chancellor-McNeil (Tricia Cast). Please Soap Gods let this mean Cane really isn't the Chancellor heir!

This is so intriguing. I am so glad Y&R remember that phone call Cane made because it always felt like he just came out of nowhere and something just wasn't right about it. I want to know who this "Uncle Langley" guy is. I have a theory but I am going to watch it all play out.
GO Y&R I am amazed that they were able to keep this under wraps so long without people finding out earlier.

I'm so excited for this one! And the best: No one saw it coming. This is a total surprise and to get something like that in years like this where spoilers can tell you everything - it's just AWESOME!
Great job Maria Arena Bell and her crew did here. And that he signed a one-year-contract is great news. With Nina back in town this could become one awesome story line. And the Chancellors really could become something big here and wouldn't stay in the shadow of the Abbotts and Newmans anymore.

I don't how a colossal spoiler like this could have been kept secret - but however Maria managed it, it was all worth it. I was screaming like a banshee at the end of the episode. Would the real Phillip III please Stand Up!!!!!!!

I agree Season! What better way to stick it to the Emmy's then to have everyone talking about your show for positive reasons?
Maria is a GODDESS! The fact that she kept this completely under wraps makes me wish I wouldn't have known it was coming... I would have fallen off my couch. I can't wait!

I agree smitty I think Langley and Phillip The 3rd were twins and were switched. I think Cane found out and has been masquereding as the real deal. I think Cane somehow switched his DNA with Phillip The 3rds when they exhummed his body and that's Phillip showed as no match to Jill when he actually was

If he is a twin - and that is a BIG IF? "The Man in the Iron Mask" comes to mind - Louis & Phillip - and since it was a drunk Kay that gave the baby away, TPTB can spin this story anyway they want to.

What about all the DNA tests...One that says Cane is related to Jill, one that said Cane couldn't be ruled out as Delia's father, which gave him DNA with Billy, Jill's son. If Thom Bierdz comes back playing Uncle Langley that would be awefully wierd if he is supposed to be the real Phillip. Didn't Cane say Uncle Langley raised him? If you think about it, Cane being the real Phillip is a little weird anyway because he should be quite a bit older. Didn't the original Phillip (Thom) have a child with Nina. I can't remember, but they may have even married. Now Nina is back. I know they don't age soap characters in real time, but..... I guess all remains to be seen.

The revelation that Cane may be a fraud and Phillip Chancellor 3 may be alive is probably generating as much buzz as Y&R finally introducing its first real gay character (Rafe) and potentially a gay relationship (rummor: Nina's son).
The best way for MAB to avoid the glaring age difference between Cane and P3 is by not having them be twins. Besides Jill would recall giving birth to two babies. Kay's memory of baby swapping may be sketchy, but a mother never fully forgets the experience and thus details of child birth.
If P3 is alive, his death and motive for apparently faking his death will need explanation.
As for Cane, I always thought it was far too convenient that Amber found Cane online searching for his birth mother. Imagine when Amber learns that it was Cane who duped her and not the other way around.
LML was notorious for starting stories, dropping them and moving on. I'm actually surprised MAB chose to revisit the now-infamous Cane "I'm in" phone call.
LANE fans may be furious at the idea that Cane may be a fraud, but to me this actually makes Cane a hell of a lot for interesting than he ever has been.
Note to Lily - Girl you need to stay single. You and relationships just don't work. Try finding hobbies like developing that backbone that you should have inherited from mama Dru.
