First Impressions: Cady McClain's Return to As the World Turns As Rosanna Cabot

Cady McClain returned to As the World Turns and it looks as if the story could end up being all about Paul, yet again. I pray that the show abandons anything and everything Rosanna might have to do with Paul, asap. The Cady McClain version of Rosanna I fell in love with was the Hogan Sheffer version. She was confident, in charge and a backbone. She was one of my favorite As the World Turns characters. That was years ago. The last time Rosanna appeared all those great qualities had disappeared. Hopefully "the third time is the charm" and Rosanna finds her spine. I'm not sure I can watch this once great character pulled back into the Vortex of Suck.

Once upon a time Rosanna would have been the perfect character to fill void left by Carly's absence, while Maura West took maternity leave. Today that isn't a certainty. Of course it isn't McClains fault As the World Turns is in shambles, but Rosanna's return will either make the show's problems more glaring or provide an opportunity to rebuild. Did they explain how she's not in a coma? I won't watch till i know this. If it's insipid and stupid like the last time, I won't have to put any energy to trying to watch again.

The main Hogan story I remember for Cady's Rosanna was her instaromance with Paul and her becoming obsessed with baby Cabot.

The best pairing Cady had was with Hunt Block's Craig, and all subsequent leading men she had never quite matched what she created with HB.
I'm hopeful that Rosanna will be quickly removed from Paul's orbit and that Paul is merely the character used for her reintroduction to the show. I think Cady could work well with Jon Lindstrom, Grayson McCouch, Jon Hensley, frankly, ANYBODY, but Roger Howarth. The moment Ro was paired with Paul, that was the beginning of the end of the strong and willful Rosanna I loved.

I know it's been only one day, but I liked it how Rosanna seems to want to make something of her life by herself (I hate weak women on soaps). The summer previews have Rosanna moving in with Carly so I'm hopeful she's only reintroduced by the Vortex of Suck and then she moves on to different stories.

Roger Howarth is the best actor on ATWT, so naturally they put Cady with him for her return. I'm so glad they are friends this time around, and he has forgiven her for what she did to him last time she was on.
