As the World Turns Daily Recap: Katie and Brad Learn the Truth

Vienna chased Henry after he stole Robobaby and found him in their hotel room. Henry confessed that he wanted to be a father in all aspects, while Vienna listened to him in shock. Katie and Brad received confirmation from Bob that Dr. Schmegletz does not exist on the Memorial staff. They had questions and wanted answers.
Vienna accused Henry of being jealous and he denied it. Vienna struggled to understand the change in Henry, not comprehending that he had a change of heart. Vienna told him that his sudden change didn't make sense to her. Henry talked about how much he loved her and the baby is a part of them. She told him it was Brad and Katie's baby, but Henry said it wasn't. Vienna admitted that it was a dream to have Henry's baby, but it was too late. Katie and Brad found the comedian pretending to be the doctor and he said he had no information for them. When Brad threatened to flatten him he said he didn't know anything except what the woman paid him to say.
Meg micromanaged Paul's packing list for his trip to Paris. Although she overheard him cancel his trip on the phone, she played up that he was still leaving. He asked her again to accompany him, but she said her cold was keeping her grounded. Paul had visions of Meg and Dusty in bed and wondered what she would do when he was gone. Meg didn't wait too long to tell Eliza that she was going to dump her on Emma because she had plans of her own while Paul lurked in the background.
Meg showed up at the Lakeview and chatted with Dusty and Johnny. She told Dusty that she wasn't meeting Paul. Johnny went off for a play date and then they were alone. Meg told Dusty that Paul was in Paris. They retired to Dusty's room, with Paul following behind them. He told her it was a mistake to go back to Paul and as he leaned in, she bolted. As she left, she caught a glimpse of Paul running to hide around the corner. She thought for a second, turned and knocked on the door. When Dusty answered he asked if she forgot something and she replied with a hot kiss. He pulled her back in the room and she abruptly stopped. Paul lurked outside the door as Dusty wondered what Meg was up to. She told him Paul was outside, but when he opened the door he was gone. Dusty realized that Meg was playing a dangerous game by luring Paul to do something drastic. He said that he wasn't going to let her do it and she said he had no choice.
Vienna told Henry that too much time has passed and that their baby now belonged to Katie and Brad. Henry said that they could try to make them understand, but Vienna said they were already attached to the baby and could not do that to them. Vienna tried to get Henry to think of Katie and Brad and how it will affect their friendship. She decided that she cannot risk it because she never had a friend before. Vienna said that she would have never been a surrogate if she knew Henry wanted a baby. They decided to find Katie and Brad to give them an explanation for Henry's stranger than usual behavior. Vienna told Henry to really think hard about how he wanted to handle the situation as they may be the only chance for the Snyders to have a child.
Katie and Brad went back to the hospital and talked to a nurse about the health of the baby. As they sighed with relief, the nurse looked at the chart more closely. Katie stopped her from getting Dr. Hughes and demanded to know what she read. The nurse told Brad that he is not the father of the baby and neither one understood how that was possible since it was conceived via artificial insemination. When the nurse went to fetch the doctor to explain it to them, Katie looked at the chart and realized the artificial insemination failed and wondered for a split second how Vienna was pregnant.
Dusty was concerned that Paul would make Meg pay if he was following her. He offered to help, but he needed to know what her plan was. Meg explained that if she could push his jealousy to the max, then Paul would blow and she would get Eliza back. She told Dusty that it wasn't his place to tell her what to do, even though he told her about the danger she was placing them both in.
Vienna and Henry caught up with an upset Katie and Brad at their apartment. Henry rolled off an fake apology and tried to give Robobaby back to them. Katie abruptly told Henry she didn't want it and told him to keep it. They went back and forth until Brad told Vienna it was impossible for him to have fathered her baby. Katie was hoping they didn't know, but it was clear that they did. Katie was crushed that her family, her best friends would betray them. She said that she knew something wasn't right because Henry was so possessive, but Vienna explained that it isn't what it looks like. Brad wanted an explanation for the lengths they went to to hide the truth. Vienna said she couldn't bear to see them devestated and she suddenly found herself pregnant. Katie was stunned that she was pregnant by accident when she had no success after repeated tries. Henry tried to get Katie to back off Vienna and thrust the blame back on him, which Brad was happy to do. Vienna said they would honor their agreement and let them have the baby. Henry wasn't so sure this was a good suggestion. They said no, they wanted Brad's baby, not Henry's. Katie called Henry on his silence and asked him if it was okay with him too. Vienna answered for him, but Henry remained silent. Katie said that they can't take their baby. She also said it was too late, she wanted them out of their lives. Henry begged her not to abandon their friendship and took responsibility for switching gears about his feelings. Brad coldly asked them both to leave. As they got to the door, Brad stopped them to get their keys back. Vienna pleaded with Katie as Brad shut the door on them.
Paul stewed with his fantasies of Meg and Dusty over a drink at the Lakeview Lounge. He asked for another drink and Dusty approached him. He tried to tell Paul that what he was thinking about him and Meg was wrong. Paul wasn't sure whether or not to believe Dusty when he told her that the plan was to goad Paul into a jealouse rage. Meg was ramping up her fake cold awaiting Paul's arrival. When Paul came home, he told Meg that he was aware of her scheme, thanks to Dusty. Fear crept in her eyes as he told her to pack up and get out. He told her that she would never see Eliza again. He told her she broke the one rule for her to stay at Fairwinds, never, ever see Dusty again. She told him that nothing happened with Dusty, but he didn't believe her. When she asked what she had to do to stay, he said for her to beg. Knowing that Paul holds the trump card, she begged him to stay. Dusty if forbidden, real or pretend, those were his terms. She went right to Dusty and accused him of taking her hope away and now she is back to square one with Paul.
Back at their room, Vienna and Henry wondered how they would get along without their friends. Meanwhile, Brad tried to console Katie who said she needed time to mourn the loss of their baby. Just then, Robobaby started crying and Brad snatched it up to quiet it. Katie asked for Robobaby and held it tightly saying that everything was going to be okay.

The baby storyline was - as usual - very rushed, but the acting was great. Especially Terri and Ewa.
I don't even want to think about the mess that is Peg. I hate it that Damian is going to get sucked into this story by the Vortex of Suck.

Mark, I was thinking the same thing. I thought the storyline was the dumbest thing and that it would drag out until the kid graduated high school in a couple of years with Parker.
Terri and Ewa floored me yesterday. I actually felt Katie's pain and betrayal, yet felt so bad for Vienna because she didn't do it on purpose and let things get out of control.
It was smart on someone's part to pick up on Katie's resentment that she could not get pregnant no matter how hard she tried while for Vienna it was an unplanned accident. I'm sure there is a lot of that in real life too.

This show is a hot mess. Why are they rushing things? I can't be invested in a show if you going to rush the s/ls and action without any pay off. I want Paul and Meg off our screens, hook Damien with Roseanna; they would be hot together. Give Nuke a real s/l, not a bad plot. The baby s/l was badly written and doesn't make sense at all.

I finally watched Wednesday's episode this morning and while I thought 3 of the 4 actors did well in the Baby storyline, I wasn't moved. It's like technically I thought those 3 unnamed actors were good but I had no empathetic or emotional response to it. I guess I really just didn't like the storyline and am glad it's over but I didn't feel for anyone in it. YMMV.
I don't watch The Vortex of Suck.

Mike,
Why isn't there any mention of Nuke, Damian, Lily or Holden in today's script?

Jay,
I don't want to misunderstand your question, so I'll give you the answers the way I interpret it.
1. There Noah, Luke, Damian, Lily and Holden weren't onscreen, so they weren't in the recap.
2. I just blog, recap and podcast. I'm not connected to ATWT.
I hope that covers it!

I agree the show is rushed and it's a hot mess, but TC and EDC stood out for me. In a world that spins too fast and doesn't make sense, it was nice to see actors excel at their job and make me pay attention. That's what I got out of the episode.
What can I say about the Vortex of Suck? Three to six months of story load was shot in one episode. It's insane!
