Guiding Light Not Cancelling Peapack Lease

Another good sign that Procter and Gamble Productions and TeleNext plan to make good on their promise to explore all options in finding a new home for Guiding Light came to, well,  light today.

According to a Central New Jersey website, the mayor is telling his townsfolk GL isn't leaving Peapack yet.

Borough Mayor William Horton said he met with representatives of Guiding Light team Tuesday morning, and was told the show won't be canceling its 2009 lease with the borough to film at municipal locations all over town and to maintain a home base at a borough facility.

"My impression was that they're very hopeful another station will pick up the show," Horton said Tuesday afternoon."

Come on, P&G, give us what we want!
As good as GL is right now, I just can't imagine parting with it in September. There has to be a network out there that wants to take on the show and the 2 million of us that tune in everyday...

Yippee!!

I hope Telenext/P&G can find another network very soon!
Thank you, Jamey for the latest info.

I'm not a fan of the show, but feel bad for the actors/crew members. Maybe CBS could do what NBC tried to do for Passions and put it on a cable/satelite channel they own.Or maybe they could sell it to Direct tv?

I'm afraid to hope. News like this makes it hard not to. But really all this news means is that P&G was telling the truth when they said they aren't yet giving up on the show. It's great that the production company is pulling for the show but I refuse to get my hopes up.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but this sounds like a good sign. Hopefully Lifetime (or another network) will decide to pick up the show!

I know what you mean. I am so happy but I know I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Also, we all made fun of Peapack in the beginning but I really love this town now.

Well good "rumor" news is better than all these depressing articles I've been reading lately especially the one practically praising CBS for cancelling GL.

I guess it depends on how much of a crackpot the mayor may or may not be.

Also, the show isn't going to be cancelled by CBS until September. That's like five more months. There's only three more months after September in 2009. I hope this means good things, but it may mean nothing.

It is good news. But until I hear of a contract negotiation, or an actor slipping about the show "looking good" I will be able to breathe normally again.

I don't understand how one network can be putting a soap into hi-def and that the other two shows will follow in one to two years and the other network is not even trying a different time slot to save one of its shows!!!
Please explain to me???? Angry Angry

I agree that articles like this make it hard not to get your hopes up, but it should renew everyone's resolve to help fight to save the Light.

Thanks to Linda Sadlouskos and Mayor Horton for spreading the news!

Don't forget to keep calling CBS everyday and reminding them you will be boy-cotting CBS after 9/18/09...

Hey OT: did any Days fans notice that Bill Horton is the mayor of Peapack.

This sounds very promising, hopefully the show is being picked up by another network!
Everyone should keep writing and doing everything they can to save this wonderful show.

This just gives me more incentive to keep writing, calling, faxing and emailing. This fight isn't over yet!

I'm praying this is a good sign. The show is must see TV now. And with the Otalia, Phillip vs Alan, Edmond vs Shayne, Dinah and Shayne stories heating up, it's only going to get even better.

Keep fighting PGP/Telenext! We Want It!
